I just find it irritating that those damn stickers have to go up EVERYWHERE - even places where smoking has never been allowed - it's an on-the-spot fine for failing to have one on every entrance I'm thinking of putting this one up in my shop. Should cover everything:

i've been studying with the jw's for a few months and i've attended a few meetings but things are feeling somewhat strange...i don't quite get the jist of things but i feel that i'm learning more of what the watchtower teachers and less of what the bible actually says.. i never open my bible.. i'm always reading the watchtower pamphlets.
i really like the people i've met in the congregation and the guy thats been doing the studies with me has been an awesome friend.. .
but i'm just having some issues.. i mean.. they translated their own bible to suit their own doctrines it seems.
So I caved a little... I am going to move to the cabin by Russ. He gave me a deal on the rent and it'll be way more comfy to live. I also am finding out that there is DSL in that region because i have other friends in that area that have it. Russ said he couldn't get DSL but he hasn't checked in over 5 years rofl.
We had a long discussion today about beliefs , the watchtower and the Witnesses etc. We came to a conclusion, he said that he didn't mean he would think that less of me.. He was just dissapointed because he really wants me as a brother and whatnot. I made it clear to him that I am my own man and I'll believe in what I think is right. I told him just because i'm moving there doesn't mean i'm going to go his way. He agreed and he said he just really wants some company that far out from the main town and he genuinely likes me. So I said "So you don't mind if I become a Baptist, switch to Lutheran, and then go with the Methodists?" and he said "That's all up to you and i'll stop witnessing to you, but if you ever want my guidance spiritually I'll help you". He has cooled off a lot and I trust him. I think i'll be ok in the cabin I won't be pursuaded by his teachings especially with the knowledge that i've learned here.
>=D I really want to prove all his things wrong though, he almost seems haughty when he makes his logical points. I'll take things slow though. But 400 bucks a month for this cabin, and he told me he'd pay for utilities.. thats hard to beat where I live..
I too have reached a point with a couple of Witnesses where they say that they want to "agree to disagree" and leave it at that.
If that is the "stasis" that you want then that is fine. If he starts "witnessing" to you again, then let him know that "he has broken his word - what kind of a witness is that?"
BUT it would be good to shatter the illusion that keeps them prisoner wouldn't it ?
Don't let their "logic" and "hopping through the scriptures" get to you. As many here have said, the truth is simple - Jesus.

The seem to believe that this treatment will get you back. Probably with some sort of "now your blessings will stop" cack ! They have been conditioned to believe that this is the best thing that they can do for you. Sort of "tough love".

Kinda reminds of a conversation I had with a buddy long time ago now. I remember it like it was yesterday
We were discussing stuff and the fact that when you see the night sky, it is now as it was. The moon is just under two seconds old, the sun 9 minutes or so, etc. Extrapolate this to the furtherest objects we know of and we're seeing things that don't exist anymore, at least as we see them now. Light can only travel so fast and these things are so far away. Essentially, we are looking back in time. What exists there now, if anything, won't "exist" here for millions if not billions of years, long after we're gone. Time as a linear concept seemed rather inaccurate at the time and we played with the idea that if what existed long ago exists here and now, it will continue to exist as such for some time, perhaps forever, as a snapshot in time somewhere. Everything that existed will always exist, in a sense. Conversely, everything that is yet to be, has been for some time. Perhaps it's always been there. And then we both reiterated the concept that space is time, time is space, applied it infinitely and pondered the ramfications of it upon our minds.
But, we were stoned at the time,....
Amazing isn't it. Everything is just a matter of where you observe it from.
Imagine being able to travel faster that the light that leaves the earth and actually overtaking your image. Then STOP and look back at yourself.
