"New Light" Not Waking People Up !!!

i have absolutely no idea how to get through to some people.... i mentioned the 1935 change to a jw, and told him that i'd seen the change coming... it was a logical progression, not a revelation from god to the fds.... his response ?.

"i've also had changes revealed to me before the fds makes the change, it just goes to show that jehovah reveals it to his people and that the witnesses have the truth.".

aaaaargh !!!!.

His response ?

"I've also had changes revealed to me BEFORE the FDS makes the change, it just goes to show that Jehovah reveals it to his people and that the Witnesses have the truth."

AAAAARGH !!!!

Totally missed the point about logic and how "New Light" always seems to bail the GB out !!!

Any other similar responses ?

i spoke to my jw mum about the new watchtower study magazine and how in the first issue there is a change in "light" regarding the anointed.. she was floored and totally accepted that if they started to accept new anointed ones (non-replacements) that it *could* indicate that the society are extending the time once again regarding the coming of armageddon.

the idea is that if they accept new anointed ones, then they could be fairly young, hence they could still be around for a lot more years!.

As far as I understand it...

The Generation teaching(pre 1995) was that SOME of the generation that were (of an age of understanding, then changed to just alive) in 1914 would make it through Armageddon.

Then (post 1995), the Generation became simply a term for "a bunch of people", referring to a "wicked" group.

Now (as of the Annual Meeting 2007), the Generation is due to become "The Anointed".

So you now have the situation where the anointed form "the generation" that will ENTIRELY pass away before Armageddon. This is daft really, as when Jesus said "this generation will be no means pass away", he was speaking to people that weren't anointed (the anointing didn't take place until Pentecost). With the "new light" shining out of the May 1st 2007 Questions From Readers, the "anointed" rules were relaxed to allow pretty much anyone that feels that it applies to them to be able to consider themselves anointed WITHOUT BEING CHALLENGED by the congregation. Hopefully I've got a handle on it... but I didn't see that in the new Jan 15th 2008 Watchtower - I only saw clarification of the 1935 change. Can someone point me in the direction of the change if it was there please. Thanks AO

secret groups in modern times have often been formed for quite honorable reasons, possibly for "social and benevolent purposes," according to the encyclopdia britannica, and "to carry out charitable and educational programs.

" some fraternal organizations, youth clubs, social clubs, and other groups are also secret, or at least semisecret.

Are JWs Superficial ?

in my dealing with many active jws, the whole thing just seems so superficial, everything is about being seen to be doing the right thing :.

being seen at meetings (bums on seats = salvation)brotherly love bombing for newcomers - the love fades after baptismmiss some meetings and the congregation regards you as weak and starts to avoid youyour life-long friends vanish at the first sign of your "weakening"the enforced dress-codeetc etc.

am i right about this - is it all a veneer ?

Am I right about this - is it all a veneer ? Is more emphasis put on the VISIBLE aspects, are they cleaning the outside of the cup and ignoring the inside ?

I am generally referring to the organisation as a whole, but have experienced this from individuals too.

Can you add other (better) examples to the list ?

Question : How Rich Is The Watchtower ?

from previous posters, we have had access to the watchtower's accounts (uk), and especially the related company (ibsa), but... apparantly accounts are not as easily available in america.. does that apply to canada too ?.

how much the organisation is worth worldwide ?how much profit the organisation makes worldwide ?.

i'd be interested to know.. thanks in advance.
