August 1980 Kingdom Ministry about Apostasy & Franz resignation

i was sorting some papers tonight and came across a copy of the august 1980 km which announced the "apostasy against the organization" (a letter from the governing body) and has the notification that raymond franz was no longer a member of the governing body and bethel family.

i remember reading this just as i was making plans to disassociate myself at the same time.

this copy of the km was in some papers that belonged to my mother-in-law (who passed away several years ago).

Misquotes from the "Reasoning Book" re: Cross (scans included)

the "reasoning book" claims that the 1874 edition of the imperial bible dictionary verifies the idea that jesus was crucified on a stake.

however, when you check the reference with the imperial bible dictionary, you see that it acutally is not as clear cut as that.. as usual, the infamous "..." of the watchtower has been used to edit out any opposing ideas in the source that they cite.. i know that this may have been mentioned before, but the scans of the imperial bible dictionary that are floating around the internet are from later editions, hence the page numbers are not those cited in the reasoning book.. .

"Special" Talk Outline for this Sunday?

last night hubby told me that his brother (an elder) told him how "provocative" the outline for this sunday's special talk is.

apparently it's something like "who is qualified to rule mankind" and goes on about how government is not qualified.

he then asked me if i'd like to attend (ha ha).

i remember speaking with a jw who read a scripture to me.... it said something like god's people were those who look at the world and wail and mourn or those who look at the world and weep are the ones that are drawn to god.. it was an old testament quote from what i remember.. .

i have been given some photocopies of this book by another researcher here (many thanks to them).. they look as if they have been taken with an overhead book camera as they have hands and fingers in them.

i have cropped the pages down and made them into a pdf.. http://www.sendspace.com/file/tn9rz7.

you will see that the crux simplex illustrated in it is the same illustration as the one that the nwt used in its appendix.. there is another copy of this book in pdf form, but it seems to be a smaller format and the illustrations are slightly different (as you can see below), so i thought this might be handy for people to have in their collections and it seemed appropriate for easter.. .
