JW black-and-white thinking, "us" vs. "them"...dispelled

just hearing the comments at this week's bookstudy, i marvelled at how black-and-white the typical jw is with regard to "us" vs "them"--with the main "them" being the "churches of christendom".

i sent out wedding invitations last week.

apparently they caused my parents to get a divorce.

i got an e-mail from my mother saying that she left my dad, is filing for divorce, and that dad thinks she left because she wants to go to my wedding and he won't let her.

Yup I agree it suck big time, I got hubby to open all mail regarding invites and I got him to just say yes or no as I knew I would be hurt reading comments from my family.

I got letters from one cousin and one sister telling me how I was going against my baptism and so they wouldn't be attending but I didn't read them until I felt strong enough to endure the condemning prattle. Both were like they'd have been there if I wasn't living with him already. I had moved in with him when I realised no one was talking to me anyway. I doubt they'd have come even if I'd stuck it out on my own, living on my own and only having him and my mom talk to me.

Have a wonderful day despite them all - I had a fantastic day and I'm sure you will too.

how does one obtain this cd?.

what is it called?.

The watchtower library 1997 CD will have watchtowers, awakes, tracts, brochures and books published from XXXX date up until 1997, unsure of when they start maybe 1940's up to 1997 or something.

i just learned that a childhood witness friend, rusty, just passed away.

he was 60 and had suffered from a heart condition for many years.

Again and again I am grateful to my mom - when i said to her that someone had said i'd never finish school she told me she had never thought that at all. my mom never once said that kind of thing to me. makes me said cos now i kinda think that maybe she has ALWAYS known its a load of croc but doesnt want to lose her family and support network.

Wife finally sees truth about "the truth"

well it has finally happened.my wife is not going back to the meetings again.as you would probably read in my previous posts, i have written a book about my experience in the watchtower organisation which is on the verge of being published.she still tried to cling to what little belief she had in the borg and did not want to read my manuscript.we discussed many of the issues and concerns i had about the watchtower but most of the times it ended in a heated argument.. i was quite surprised when she approached me about two weeks ago and asked to read my manuscript.after reading it she handed it back to me and said she fully supports me in publishing this book.her eyes have been opened to the deception and lies.i think she and a friend had a bad experience calling on one of her so-called jw friends.furthermore, she did not attend this past weekends circuit assembly..

hooray!!!.

all i have to do now is to introduce her to all you wonderful people here on jwd.. jakes.

carbon dating

just wondering and not wanting to take over perrys thread re: dinosaur dna.

i know the dubs poo poo the idea of carbon dating saying that it's all wrong and that the human and animal remains are not millions of years old because according to them mankind is 6,000 years oldish, is there anywhere where they contradict themselves on this, so that they accept carbon dating on some things and not on others?.

Where did JesusGet this Idea From?

as we all know, jesus many times quoted the old law, but then he'd give a further application of that law.

one example is the passage in matthew 5:43,44 which says, "you must love your neighbor and hate your enemy (44) however i say to you, you must love your enemy and pray for those persecuting you".. so, the question is....where did jesus get the idea from which says "you must hate your enemy"?

did the 'law' teach this idea?.

it is a pity that the watchtower prefers the god of hate in the old testament as opposed to the god of love in the new. my view is that they seem to be going on about two different beings!

How much of a man are you? Problems with rats, I just can't do it

last summer, i noticed a rat living underneath my shed in the back garden.

i tried my hardest to convince my female counterpart that we had a rat living with us, but as usual was met with a wall of silence.

so time passed and i didn't see rodney the rat again, so i just figured that he had gone away some place else.

hmm well ....

i would be able to kill a rat but i would hav to get my partner to remove it and bin it!

i tend to save flies, wasps, spiders. but every now and again i just kill em. sometimes i feel bad sometimes i dont.

Husband forgot our anniversary....again

i'm wide awake at 2 a.m., with my mind ruminating on stuff i should leave alone.

i wish i could turn it off in the night, when worries spin out of control.

let me list my concerns: this was my 26th wedding anniversary, and my husband forgot it apparently.

maybe you should have just given him the card, you didnt forget even if he did- maybe the conversation could have happened then.

conversations that are serious are hard. i hate them too.

hope you manage to talk with him and sort something out, everyone deserves to be happy. maybe he is unhappy too and you can both go your own way or maybe you can communicate and sort things out.

thinking of you (i need to have a serious conversation with my other half and am putting it off too)

Crisis of Conscience/ISoCF Library Campaign

many libraries do not have copies yet, as it is far from 'mainstream' reading for most people.

i propose that we can all do a small deed that can/might be a huge favor to our former 'brethren' in the 'truth'.

check with the local library, see if they have the books on the shelves.

just checked - there is one copy of CoC between the libraries in my county. theres also one by brian battison in large print - who is that??!

what does ISoCF stand for please? in search of ........?
