are there really 8 million jw's?
by wannaexit inlast circuit assembly there was 700+ present and 1 baptized.. recently there was a foreign language assemble of over 500 and 1 baptized.. in the last 5-10 years i haven't been to one assembly where there has been more than a handful baptized.
at the memorial all i see are the same old faces that have been coming since the flood.. the hall complex i attend has 6 congregation and several groups-there is negative growth.
when you factor in the demographically aging folk and the many who have already passed away, i don't know where they get the 8 million.. i know that most of the growth is from the developing countries, but still i think they are fudging their numbers.

She thinks I doubt due to a mental illness. I am alone, I go in field service and become extremely depressed as I hear the critical opinions of Bro and sisters towards the people in our territory.
The arrogance, the self righteousness and the pride make me so unhappy.
Any suggestions how to cope?

disfellowshipping
by Sabin inif disfellowshipping was to be done away with, aside from the authorities that should be informed of child abuse so it may be dealt with legally, how should these one`s be dealt with within the congregations?.
-
Deltawave
Disgellowshipping isn't the problem as many who I have known to be Disfellowshipped have done something pretty bad, cheat on their wives, get girls pregnant then ignore them and split up families or start abusing drugs etc.
So many of these people are ones I would choose not to have close association with anyway. However I do not and can not for the life of me comprehend why such ones are totally shunned. Especially inside the kingdom Hall. The kingdom Hall should be the one place where we are ALL equal in the sight of God. And not having close association with a person doesn't mean you have to shun the with the extremist behaviour that prevails the congregations today 😕

JW Lurkers and curious. This is for you.
by punkofnice inhello, lurkers and curious.
i imagine you're reading this because either you think you can defend your beliefs victoriously or you have doubts.. i have 2 questions that i hope you can log in and answer (no one will know who you are unless you tell them or leave your page open for others to see).
1. what actual worship did you do at the meetings or gatherings?.

In our meeting yesterday I Lear ed how we are better than all other religions numerous times,
That we can avoid anxiety by begging God for help and that we should not worry about our financial struggles and just donate to the worldwide fund.
It sounds like I'm been sarcastic but that was actually our meeting yesterday 😕

by Deltawave inso we have another assembly upon us next week and everyone is excited because.... it means no thursday meeting and no sunday meeting either.
i have to say it intrigues me how happy very dedicated witness's are about the week of freedom.
i jokingly said.... shouldn't we all be sad their is no meeting.. and the reply was "we should be but it's great isn't it!

When the hours for pioneering are dropped they celebrate,
When the speaker doesn't turn up as stuckinarut2 said they celebrate
When the assembly was cut down to one day they celebrate
That's when they have the kingdom smile 😁😁😇

omg...the smile on my face, and the one on my dads was priceless......along with the frowns on theirs... thats all....just wanted to share that..

Buddhism Anyone?
by LaurenM inso, i have recently been delving in buddhism and i must say it all makes sense!
like, the philosophies and ideas are what i've always believed but could never put a name to.
for example, they don't believe in god, they teach acceptance of all faiths, that peace can be achieved - not by changing other people - but by changing yourself, that everyone has goodness in themselves, that happiness can be gained internally (not externally as a gift from god), and that life is temporary so we should enjoy it!

Yes I totally agree. I've been researching Bhuddism for about 3 years now and it makes much more sense to me than JW Theology does. I find its principles inspiring, refreshing and motivating. Christianity is full of Death, Guilt and the beleif that the more you suffer the closer to God you are. I know pioneers that would deliberately make their lives hard as it seemed to make them feel more spiritual to be always struggling. Bhuddism is about peace, harmony and internal unity...rather than external longings for a brighter future! -

4 versions of Jesus resurrection- all different
by purrpurr ini've been reading more and studying about the bible .
it was brought to my notice that out of the four different versions of jesus resurrection they do not back each other up.
instead they contradict each other a lot.

Smiddy, that is exactly what I've been thinking for months now. Those resurrected should by rights live forever as they paid for their sins when they died. Looks like nonsense....
