  Oh May We Ever Live Up To Our Chosen Name!

  there are some really weird and interesting names on this site.

  just out of interest, lets swap details of how we selected our chosen "stage name", it could be fun!.

  i chose "englishman" when i first started to lurk at h20.

  Hello Englishman , well here is my explanation...

  Faithful is what I will always be, no-matter what life throws at me.
  Through my life GOD has always been by my side, even when I was a horrible child.
  He waited for me patiently until I realized what he ment to me.
  And now that I have found him to be near, I will always have that GODLY fear, to listen to that still small voice that tells me to make a rightous choice.

  And so I choose this word that describes me perfectly, one that will always be on my mind and remind me, to be Faithful...

  Because he will always be there forever, waiting....

  Christmas Star = Satan?!

  i was talking with my husband the other day about the jw's belief that the "christmas star" that guided the magi to christ was the doings of satan.

  he didn't believe me; this is what i found in the "my book of bible stories" (copied verbatim from cd-rom).

  who do you think made that new star to shine?

  Hi there Reagan, sorry to get to you so late, but I just read your post.
  If you remember correctly Daniel was in the east all his life and he was made head of the Maggi and the courts. Since we found out through the reading of the book of Daniel that he was searching in scriptures all his life to find out just when Jerusalem would be rebuilt again he probably at some time or another explained to the other Maggi when this was supposed to happen. Remember that Daniel was looked upon in this time period as a Great Prophet and councelor to the King of the east and after daniel died these star gazers wanted to Honor the great King of the Jews which was to be born and so could pin point the exact time period of the appearing of the star, since according to their knowledge of astrology, every King that was born had his own star in the sky. They went on their own accord to honor the Jewish GOD and present him with gifts, not because Satan sent them. If it were truely so, why would GOD warn them to go a different way since he could have easily destroyed them. GOD took a situation that could have been a disaster and used it to his advantage, because the gifts that these wise men from the east brought to Joseph and Mary were very valuable and helped them in escapping King Herod.
  We all know, King Herod had his own advisors and they knew exactly where this child was supposed to be born, all they had to do was look at their scriptures.
  And besides, GOD knows everything before it happens and he intercedes and uses mankind to further his purpose. What is a mere human King
  ( a speck of dirt )to someone as Magestic and Great as our creator.
  God directs everyone, even Kings and nations.....

  What Will Occur In 2012 When Mayan Calender Ends?

  what will occur in 2012 when the mayan calendar ends?

  when people say the mayan calendar ends in 2012, they're referring to the end of one 5125-year cycle that began in 3114 b.c.

  this cycle ends on december 21, 2012 (although some peg the date as the 22nd), marking the end of the mayan cyclical calendar.

  Hey Jim,
  the LDS church uses the Mayan calander also and it's supposed to agree with the Jewish expectation of the Red Heffer that has already been born.
  According to the LDS church 2012 is a terrible time of earthquakes and destruction to their own people and others especially in the Utah area. Everything from a great canyon opening up all the way to Mexico and an underground see comming up to the borders of Colorado.
  The poles are expected to shift and most of the U.S. is going to be under water towards the east.
  Boy, sure hope I'm safe living up here in Alaska, maybe I'll just climb a mountain and hope it's high enough. :o)

  I guess it's my turn, I hope I'm not the last one...
  I just signed up and am anxious to meet all of you..

  I'm 43 and the Mother of 4, ( 2 boys and 2 girls )living in the great state of Alaska.
  About 13 years ago my Aunt who is a witness and lives in S.Carolina got me interested in this religion. I was searching for answers and living in the bible belt at the time. It was a very confussing for me,( all those different preachers on T.V.) I didn't know what to believe anymore and so started my journey.
  I was very surprised to recieve answers to my questions and studied with the Witnesses for 1 year. For some reason I just couldn't get babtized, something was stopping me and I didn't realize at the time that it was my conscience. I felt pressured by them to take the initial step and finally moved as far away from them as possible, at least I thought so. Had no idea they were up here too, :o)
  To make a long story short, searched for GOD, became a Ladder Day Saint for 2 years, left , became a witness and found it to be the most depressing and unloving religion one can emagine.
  This religion almost cost me my marriage and made me suicidal.
  After many months of feeling numb and alone with no-one to turn to I gave up on GOD and religion...and left.
  Well, I just couldn't stay away from the love of my life, my GOD, and the spitit of truth brought me back to him.
  Many months of reading in other Bibles without the WT mags. and letting the spirit guide me has given me hope again.
  I don't know if I will ever have the same relationship with GOD the Father again the way that I used to have it, I pray that I will, but the Witnesses have taken allot out of me.
  All this religion has done for me is taken away my hope in GOD and my love for life and replaced it with fear and sadness.
  I hope that someday soon, that those that are trapped in this cult, will have their eyes and ears opened to the truth and they see for themselves the hypocracy and lies that this Org. has spread..

  just a little niggle i have:.

  in genesis 1:6-10 it talk of how the 'waters' were divided into upper and lower with an expanse in between.

  this expanse became known as 'heaven', the waters underneath the heaven became the foundation of earth.

  Dear SJ,
  If one believes that Adam was the first ( literal ) Man created , then you might be right, but if one understands the figurative use of GODs words and understands that Adam was the first one chosen by GOD to bring about his purpose and make a people unto his name, then one gets a whole new understanding of scripture...

  From all of humanity GOD chose Adam, and seperated him to be a prophet. GODs laws where given to Adam and he in turn was to instruct the people in all the ways..
  The woman( congregation or church )was to be a helper in bringing new ones( giving birth ) to GOD.

  Gods way of thinking is not our way of thinking, because his thoughts are higher than ours. It is up to everyone of us to learn this way of thinking.
  Take the tools that he has given all of us in his book and stop imagining and using mankinds understanding to bring GOD down to our level. Use that spirit within you and learn of GOD...

  As we all know, GOD is a spirit and to understand GOD we must learn his way of thinking.

  The waters above the expanse are the angels and the waters below the expanse is humanity.
  We can find GOD using symbols for certain things all over his Book, why take everything literaly ?

  Thus were the heavens and the earth created,
  and all the HOSTS of THEM.

  Hi there Jurs,
  I just joined this forum and wanted to let you know that your post has helped me tremendously. I left the congrgation 8 months ago and the elders haven't called me yet. I live in a very small town and run into all of them quite often.
  I have had several talks with them already while I was still at the meetings and contrdicted some of their teachings and proved everything that I was saying came right out of their own bible. I think that they might be a little scared, because they never bother to call on me. But that's O.K.
  I will use your info if they ever do, and thanks for the site you mentioned about shunning, I'll be sure to check it out...
