  let's assume that there are about 9,000,000 armageddon survivors (baptised jw's and their children), after just 30 years every survivor will be sexually mature and with increased vigour and health.. .

  chemical contraception, condoms, i.u.d's etc will all be long gone so any married couple with a normal sex-drive will be producing children at an average rate of about 1 per year.. .

  world population at the beginning of the 20th century was less than 1.5 billion.

  I love it! You are correct, of course. I am sure this has never come up. Neither has how are these people going to feed themselves? Clothes?

  This brings up the question of where people will live. I brought this up to my JW mother a few years back and she told me she had "picked out the Art Institute of Chicago". I was dumbfounded. I told her that if Jehovah were to destroy all the people, did it not make sense he would destroy all the buildings? She said, she did not know, Jah would take care of them. However, in case buildings were standing, she had put dibs on the Art Institute. She said she told the elders about it and they agreed to abide by her claim if it was still standing after Armageddon!!

  i started a new job last january with a fairly young company.

  within just a few weeks, i realized this was a pretty good company to work for.

  they pay well, bennies are good, senior management is pretty decent, future looks secure, etc.

  Hi Andi,

  I worked at Lucent Technologies in 1996. When they were doing really well. I had recently started. A co-worker, who had 25 years in the company (Western Electric, ATT then became Lucent in 1996)told me of a wonderful business he did on the side. He was convinced that Lucent was going down the tubes and he was planning for the future. (I should have paid attention to that part!)

  After harrassing me long distance (he was in New Jersey, I was in Kansas) for months, I finally agreed to listen to see if perhaps I could work on the side and earn even more money. [;D]

  He sent me a packet of information and a video. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be AMWAY!!!! He would help set me up and get a part of my sales, all I had to do was convince family and friends to purchase Amway products.

  I declined to be a part of this pyramid scheme.

  I understand your frustration. Someone you trust tries to take advantage of that trust and use you for their gain. A neighbor recently came by to tell me I would make a great travel agent (Lucent layoffs)! I declined to become a travel agent....especially now!!

  I did!

  I was 13. I was hoping the new system would arrive so I could be perfect. Being considered a 'loser' by my high school classmates only made surviving into 1976 worse. I then had to figure out how to survive the rest of my life. For instance, would I go to college (my mother was pro-education; go figure), would I ever be married, when would paradise arrive, etc.

  Watching the older JW's sell businesses, quit jobs, go on lavish vacations (might as well see the sights while they were still around, huh?) and purchase all kinds of ridiculous items was eye opening.

  Then, nothing. When 1976 rolled around, the JW's I saw looked like they were shell shocked. Now what?

  That was a wake up call.

  can anyone please tell me the latest official position of the wbts on family members who are disfellowshiped or disassociated.

  (please quote wbts literature or boe letters as i don't have the latest).. why all of this?

  this week i met a wonderful couple who are being shunned by their own 28 year old daughter.

  As I read the official WTS document, I felt sick to my stomach. I have not been df'd, however, my sister and father and mother all were. Only my mother was reinstated. She continues a relationship with my sister and father (her ex-husband). She also is an active JW.

  My mother now is the first one "to throw the stone" when dealing with people she considers morally lapse. This brainwashing and terrible behavior towards people who might need help the most (hence the reason for the df'ing) is reprehensible. Would Mother Teresa shun someone because they had a lapse of judgement?

  Again, I am distressed reading this. It was like looking into the mouth of the beast!

  Hmmmm....this was a joke and should have been posted under the humor section...however, there are some similarities.

  No premarital sex-Duh

  No oral sex. Giving or receiving. Never.-Ask billy his opinion; I recall being told oral sex was what homosexuals did, therefore, it was banned....seeing a similarity?

  No booze. None.--No drunkeness...what is the point of drinking!

  No TV. No cable TV.
  No Spice channel. No Playboy channel.--these two go together...TV has bad images of evil, worldly people (what I was told), therefore, you were allowed to watch cartoons on Saturday, after field service. Playboy and Spice channel need no explanation.

  No Hooters, No titty bars, no sports--sound familiar? I recall no sports allowed for JW's. It would take away from field service. No titty bars, because I might masturbate which in turn could lead to fornication....seeing the similarity?

  The women have to wear baggy dresses and veil's. Women have to cover up everything! I recall my mother begin called in because her neckline was too low. I recall my sister being called in for her jeans being too tight-at a roller skating party? Sound familiar?

  This was intended as a light hearted poke at the WTS mandates some of us grew up with. The Taliban is similar in my mind in many, many ways.

  billy-in all seriousness, welcome.

  I understand your wondering why a group of people are on a board posting notes about something you are involved in-perhaps happily.

  We all have different stories on why we questioned the JW teachings. Questioning should not get someone reprimanded or df'd. Free thought is a wonderful process.

  As you read the various posts and threads you might start to question some teachings yourself. That is not bad.
