i've been reading this thread for some time and finally had the opportunity to create an account.
i am anxious to meet you all and have a support group/active audience over the next crucial months and years following.
background: long-time doubter, giving way to frustration and skepticism beginning about 10 years ago and finally to total admission that this is a cult and that atheism is the way to go.

no call to invite me to a committee meeting...no notification of deciding i should be df'd....no telling my jw wife of the announcement...not a chance to appeal what i did not even know what was going on...my mini-serve son is devasted....he even researched it....told me to go to page 153-154 of the od book...never heard of it but it is a green hardback given to all who are to be baptized.
wow...the elders broke every rule in this book as to my case.... i have no respect for these men that can take away your jw family without even telling you they are going to.
my jw son has now begged me to meet with my committee...even though there is prob zero chance they can reverse the decision...that chance is from when they let you know...and you have to appeal by letter within 7 days (i cant make this stuff up!!
So sorry to see you go through this ,next thing they will probably attack your wife for signing,what a bunch of pricks

my mother was very strict about entertainment.
in school i was doing a project about teen suicide and had checked out some books on suicide and abortion.
i had alot of explaining to do for that.
Hey I was one that did the banning
My son liked "Kiss" that got banned he was a young teen at the time
My eldest when he was a minor loved "Astro Boy" that got banned because he was disrespectfull to his parents
The monty python movie where john cleese kept referring to jehovah,I quickly got up and turned that off.(disrespectfull)
Well at least we can look back and laugh about it now

i loved the way don cameron refused to get bogged down with arguing for an alternative scriptural interpretation to the witnesses.
This is an" EXCELLENT" publication: Words cant describe the priceless information thats contained in this book,and for a measley >$10 from lulu
I have just given it to my daughter in law to read , and to any jw lurkers who read this ,I challenge you ,if your so sure you have the "truth" read this book,after all truth is supposed to stand up to investigation,what are you afraid of?

It`s nothing new really,back in the 60`s,because churchgoers would criticize us for playing down the name jesus ,we would identify ourselves as christian witnesses of jehovah,or jehovah`s christian witnesses

I was a convert at 19,I bought it hook line and sinker.
Within a yr I converted my girfreind and got married in a K.H.
Within a couple of yrs we had 2 children
A couple of yrs later we moved interstate away from the influence of unbeleiving family
We then became totally dependant on our new family in the "Truth"
We made freinds and asocciates built wholly around Jehovah`s Witnesses, for the next 33 years
I can honestly say, ashamedly, I would have given up my marriage,if she had turned her back on the WTB&TS,I would have sacrificed my children in refusing blood transfusions,as well as my wife, and self,to this organization....So the answer is NO....smiddy

I wasn`t expecting much from this movie at all,and was pleasantly surprised.I would give it **** out of 5
As for True Grit again I wasn`t giving it much thought being a remake and all,however ***** out of 5 for my book.
