on the subject of truth.
..... i was always under the impression that one of the reasons jws couldn't do jury duty or go to court etc was that we were not allowed to swear on the bible.
..as in i swear to tell the truth the whole truth etc etc .
blondie , your Questions from readers as you rightly state is from 2003 ?
I believe this is just another example of the G.B.speaking out of both sides of there mouth .Doublespeak.
I`m going back to the period of 1960-1993 the time I was a JW in Australia .
And it was definetely told to us that swearing on the bible was a no-no. back then.
Matthew 5:33-37 was used to support that belief ,particulary vs 37 which states
" just let your word yes mean yes your no no for what is in excess of these is from the wicked one "
If any other Australian has a different view on that in the time period stated by all means correct me.

on the subject of truth.
..... i was always under the impression that one of the reasons jws couldn't do jury duty or go to court etc was that we were not allowed to swear on the bible.
..as in i swear to tell the truth the whole truth etc etc .
Here in Australia , I was in for 33 years and I was always under the impression that it was wrong to swear on the Bible , the scripture that was quoted to me was Matthew 5:33-37 , the last part which reads , "just let your word yes mean yes your no , no , for what is in excess of these is from the wicked one."
So I was convinced swearing on the Bible was wrong a definite no/no.

hey all.
i haven't posted in forever and a day, but i feel like this is a great place to ask this question because of so many people who are unsure of their beliefs.
my mom was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer about four years ago.
ilikecheese ,
I`m very sorry for your loss my friend,it`s going to take time to come to grips with that ,
I would take a break on what you want to believe until you are in a more stabilized environment ,so you can make more rational deciscions to be made in a more relaxed environment .
Do not let emotions govern your decisions,
Give yourself time to reflect on your options .

i've always found it amazing that people can say with such conviction that jehovah is their friend.. we are talking about a "friend" who perhaps daily "tests" us to see if we are his friends.
all of us have dealt with some form of hardship such as the death of a loved one, chronic illness or whatever.
it is in these cases that the brothers will tell a person that perhaps it is a test, or that "jehovah knows you're not ready" or some other lame excuse.. do our real friends "test" us to see if we will be loyal to them?
Marriage partners that do not communicate , eventually fail .
Intelligent worshipers of God , who do not get feedback from him , need to get a life ,he is obviously not interested in you.
No communication with humanity and God for 2000 years ? Either God does not care or God does not exist .
Actually because he hasn`t contacted anybody these past 2000 years he isn`t interested in anybody . or worse he never existed except in the minds of men .

a film to watch out for is .
life for ruth -- 1962. http://akas.imdb.com/title/tt0056181/.
note paragraph 2 of this review.
I saw this movie when I was new to the religion early `60`s not that I can remember much about it today .
Another movie about that time starred Dennis Weaver and the blood doctrine , though if I remember correctly they did not say JW`s.
How about you guys check out Dicte a danish production that is current for today, I`m into the second series about a woman who was brought up as a JW and kicked out of her home when she was sixteen by her Jehovah`s Witness parents and has been shunned ever since .
Go the Danes

is it just me?
My 2 cents worth , OK ?
To me , proselytizing is something religions do to promote their faith without giving any , concrete / substantial / verifiable evidence to back up there claims except to say you must have faith in their belief , whatever it may be,
Thousands upon thousands of religions that exist today , fall into that category without exception.
Evolutionists , and if I might take poetic license here , cofty , as this poster seems to have taken exception to , is quoting , or referencing to verifiable learned people in their field of expertise that corroborates proven scientific methods in many fields to support evolution as a fact .
Religion , faith , belief ,all fail dismally in providing any verifiable facts .
So in short , evolutionists do not proselytize , they present verifiable facts . Religion does not.

So please , keep posting here
, You may eventually learn the real truth about the JW cult religion , who are not just satisfied with the shed blood of Jesus as a sacrifice , no , they want the rank & file to shed there blood also with their ludicrous blood ban , causing deaths to young and old over decades.

exploring the human genome is like roaming around an historic town.
some places are pristine and obviously still in everyday use.
others have been unused for a while and starting to show signs of decay and if you look carefully there are relics of buildings that were abandoned long ago.. in this post we are going to look at a gene that we still carry in every cell in our body but which fell into disuse 10s of millions of years ago.. humans are placental mammals.
Keep them coming cofty
