  The Nurture of Nature, how to get from genes to behavior

  one thing i have enjoyed since leaving the jehovah's witnesses is learning about science and evolution.

  it's so great to be able to look at things without the fog of religious belief clouding things.

  of course i have learned a lot from cofty and his threads on evolution, but one thing i struggled with was what causes instinctual behavior in animals for example, what tells birds to fly south for the winter?

  I see where your coming from LisaRose ,

  I often wondered how birds knew their were fish in the waters ,rivers and oceans that was food for them to eat.

  Another one was how did bears know when Salmon were even in the rivers , let alone when they were migrating upstream to breed , and was food for their taking.

  It`s easy to say they instictively knew that , but HOW ?

  Why would birds who live on the land and fly in the sky even know their was a source of food beneath the waters.

  And the same can be said of bears , why would that concept even enter their brain ?

  I shall have to look at the link you mention in more depth to see if it answers my questions.

  Major congregational quake in Southern California

  this notice is not official yet and it should be confidential until released thru the proper channels.

  a friend of mine told me about a huge elders meeting in southern california.

  the subject was the relocation and dissolution of some congregations; it seems that this is the result of some project that has been going on for some time and is going to be implemented right now.. please let me know if this is happening all over the country?.

  Have not had a visit in over a year

  i have been out of the cult for over 20 years.

  i left when the idiots changed the meaning of generation in 95 and the internet came to life giving me the links to see just what a mind numb bunch i was with.

  i now live in a populated area where there is a hall about half a mile away.

  i reccomend you read it.. jarrod booth also has an extremely interesting article in this publication .

  ok so i was stupid and looked at the text for today, i do not know why i did it.

  i lost a couple of brain cells and put myself into an even deeper depression over it.

  it was just that my husband had it out and i thought what can it hurt, wondering what they are up to.

  Hang on ,is , "Armageddon" just around the corner ?

  or is it ,"The Great Tribulation" , that is just around the corner ?

  Hang on again , maybe its , The" New System" that is just around the corner .

  I`m confused , where does the "Paradise Earth " fit in with this picture.?

  And not to be picky , but where in the Bible does it even mention a paradise Earth ?

  " we are avoided like the plague .They tried contacting us a few times and then gave up ."....?

  All in the same sentence ,one thought contradicts the other..Which is it ?

  "They avoided you like the plague ", or "They tried contacting us a few times and then gave up "

  Aside from that I`m glad for you and your spouse , life is better for both of you and your kids.

  Dagney ,that story is .....i`m almost lost for words , absolutely appalling will have to do.

  It just demonstrates to me what I have known for a long time .

  This excuse for a religion sucks the blood out of your soul .

  You lose whatever you had of natural affection for fellow humans.

  "The committee wouldnt support them because of low field sevice reports and low meeting attendance", .unbelievable.for normal people to comprerhend.

  I`m glad to hear the whole family is out and the boy is still alive with the love of family still around him

  My thoughts and best wishes for the wellfare to the boy in question , and my thoughts and best wishes to his family and friends.

  Another Kingdom Hall sold

  berkeley kingdom hall in wollongong south of sydney australia has just been sold.

  berkeley congregation are now sharing a neighbouring hall at dapto.. .

  the reason given was the governing body has taken over all the halls and the building was in need of repair.
