  What you need to remember in this case is that the legislation adopted a few years ago had penalties for non compliance to the law.The witnesses refused to comply,so surely they should be held in contempt of the law and convicted of a criminal offence.

  How would you feel if when this legislation was passed,you immediately complied with the law,only to find out 2-3 years later another organization had snubbed their nose at the legislation and got off scot free ? I for one would be totally pissed off and want to know whats going on

  My wife and I attended the service today as we have these past couple of years and have a better appreciation for what it means to the people attending this service.I also feel that it is good to involve the young school children who have an active part,one young student played the last post on the trumpet,she did a good job by the way ,and another student a baritone sang the national anthem,he had a great voice,then school students took part in the laying of wreaths.I feel school students should be aware of their countrys history and involvement in world conflicts .We may not always agree with our govts.policy but war is a fact of life .(eg. the old testament/hebrew scriptures) For the first time I placed a poppy in honour of my uncle who was a POW of the japanese.I felt good that I did that.

  no it didn`t have anything to do with steven unthank,just general problems people had with the system.. however i saw it as an opportunity to" advertise advertise advertise "steven unthanks case,though i didn`t get on the air,i spoke to the receptionist and gave her a breif as to what the case was all about.they ran out of time i left it to late to ring in.they did seem interested though.. i have since sent an e-mail to the station if anyone is interested i could post what i wrote later i`m short of time right now.. also in the herald sun this morning their was a letter to the editor on the same subject,so i took the opportunity to write them also with a slightly different slant on the subject.i could also post that if anyone is interested.

  as i said i have to go out now.

  This is what I wrote in my e-mail to the ABC word for word

  All organizations church groups....etc have complied with the "Working with Children Checks" except the various organizations under the umberella of Jehovah`s Witnesses who for the past 3 years have thumbed their nose at the act and have refused to comply.They are now facing criminal charges in the Latrobe Valley Magistrates court brought about, not by the authourities, who should be doing it,but by a private individual.It should be taken over by the Dept.of public Prosecutions.As one of your listeners said,who has a carpet cleaning business they had to get one,because children may be in the house alone,then all adult Jehovah`s Witnesses should likewise have to get one because of their door to door ministry where they can come in contact with children when their parents are not at home.Or is this law a paper tiger applying to some but not others.

  I wanted to keep it breif and to the point,at least their aware of it now.I would hope their investigative journalists would follow it up.

  i am a little unsure why there is attention on mouritz.... i know his being moved to poland is of interesting timing and all.

  but why is the spot light on him?.

  is he suspected of molesting kids?.

  Though I`ve been out since 1993 ( Iwas a convert at 19yrs of age in late 1969 ) so an active witness for 33 yrs ,it takes a lot of time & effort to shake off the baggage this religion leaves you with.

  When I found this site 4 yrs ago I found I still had hangups with the apostacy tag ,however slowly with the wealth of information this site provides I truly feel liberated , I feel I have available at my fingertips a university degree on religion/philosophy,and humour,something you will never get reading the Watchtower & Awake mags.

  Kudos to all who support this board.

  One other thing, I know that their are many young ones joining the board for various reasons,and a big welcome to you all,however I`m especially interested in seeing how many oldtimers , those who have been witnesses 30,40,or more years join this site.A big welcome to you as it must be that much harder to give up on something you formally beleived in and spent a great deal of your life in a lie. I feel I can relate to that.
