during our wt life we met a good number of friends involved in the circuit and district work.
i am sure that we share the same experience and that we remember fondly some that we caring, loving and generally interested in the brothers.
at the same time we might remember others that were arrogant, selfish, abusive and oppressive.
I would have more respect for travelling overseers /former travelling overseers if they came on this site and apologized for their time with the Borganization , in promoting a sham of a religion known as Jehovah`s Witnesses .
Otherwise they can whistle dixie and drift off into the sunset .

joel rosenburg was on tv a few minutes ago talking about eisenhower's background.
he mentioned that his father left the religion after the end of the world did not happen in 1914 and that his mother continued.
then he mentioned that when he was sworn into office, he had his hands on a bible published by jehovah's witnesses.
When i was studying with Jehovah`s Witnesses in 1959 , the Bible they were using was the American Standard Version , why ? because it used the name Jehovah throughout..

Whether Poopie`s OP is valid or not , the responses it has generated shows their is a real problem with young people , some pre teens being baptized and the consequences that follow when they fall foul of the obligations that are expected of them at such a young age.Disfellowshipping and shunning .
Let`s focus on those issues as they are real .

since the memorial is coming up soon and its about time for me to go shopping for a new memorial ( aka easter) dress, i've realized what the memorial really is for us teenage girls, a beauty pageant!
the memorial is the day i spend painting my nails, curling my hair, and carefully applying makeup because my mother says i have to "represent jehovah" and look my best.
in reality its just to impress the newcomers and to compete with the other girls.

It all comes down to a fashion parade among all the chicks to see if they can impress all the horny young guys , and vice/versa .
The event has nothing to do with the spiritual aspects of the meeting ,it`s just an avenue to put yourself out their for all to see as you parade yourself around the grounds
Hey don`t get me wrong , the guys are just the same , Conventions are like a meat market , a calf sale ,what`s available , and does he/she meet with my , or my parents approval as a suitable mate.?

My 13 year old niece was put on probation for smoking a cig. 2 years later she was still on probation , they had forgotten all about her and her situation. Loving shepherds eh?
Of course she is now married and way out of the religion and bringing her 2 children up away from the cult.
I agree that baptizing children and then expecting them to make mature adult decisions and when they don`t to D.F. them ,along with the shunning , is nothing short of child abuse.
And they should be taken to task for it.

The more the G.B. stuff up with their bad timing for new songs etc, and make the meetings an embarrassment for newbies and unbelieving spouse along with the rest of the congregation , I say keep it up G.B., you make our job that little bit easier. ( our job being , helping people wake up )

a thought struck me...... the very generation (no pun intended) of people who the society is focussing so much attention on, that is the children, should not even be here!
(think caleb and sofia etc).
their parents, who are probably aged between 20 - 40 are the very generation too that should not be here if the societies strict guidance from the 70's and 80's was followed by their parents...ie to not have kids "because the end is soooooo close!".
My wife and I were told our children would never have to go to high school , this was in the early 60`s .
Not only did they go to high school they have children of their own who have not only gone to high school but their offspring are approaching it as well.
