My first experience in going to a church was when I attended a funeral of my workmate in a Uniting Church of christendom
The church was packed and the service was respectful as you would expect , however what surprised me was one of the songs that was sung out of two ,was a song of praise using the name Jehovah ,apart from the eulogy ,speakers etc for the deceased.
So much for christendom hiding Jehovahs name , not making it known.
The name Jehovah has been around for seven centuries since it was first coined in the 13th century long before Jehovah`s Witnesses came on the scene.in the 20th century.
hi all, just recently i was thinking about the period of my study and eventual baptism as jw.
it took many years, i guess in all about 10 years.
various times i stopped the study but after a while it started again.
In the 60`s , Australian witnesses I knew used the "American Standard Version of the Bible , simply because it used the name Jehovah in the Old Testament
Why didnt red flags go up then ? We all knew that all crackpot ideas /religions originate in the USA ?
My apologies to all the sane ex-JW`s who have left the cult who are exceptions to this rule.
edit to add : The WTB&TS printed and published a few other Bibles under license ,notably the King James Version , Byingtons Bible ,and if I`m not mistaken the American Standard Version , their may have been more .
the big day is two days away when she will say "i do".
i knew this day would come someday but as a mom you just want to hold on even though i did everything to train her to be very independent.
she has been making most of her own decisions since middle school.. she moved away 5 years ago but still was totally mine till 2 years ago when mr. wonderful appeared in her life.

I cant speak from experience myself but wasnt their a movie ,Deliverance ,that did show an animal squealing ?
isnt that a natural thing that animals do under such circumstances ?

I think the story of an Almighty God , Jehovah/Yahweh was a hoax designed to control the people that spawned offshoots such as Jesus ,Allah ,and whoever else since the beginning of time.
And thats just considering the Judeo / Christian / Islamic religions .
The same can be said for the multitude of non Christian Religions around the world going back to the beginning of time , that it was all a hoax designed to control the masses ,I can accept that

so i ask because of all the books, mags and testimonies that the wts promotes.
not only the wts, but many other christians attempt to speak about the bible with authority.
how do we measure who is an authority if we don't know that much?.
If an Almighty God was really the authour of the many books of the Bible ,how is it that Moses was the first one to put anything in writing , 2000 years after the event of creation.? Maybe thats why Genesis 1 & 2 have differences about creation ,God had a seniors moment informing Moses.to its accuracy.
