Changed Wording in February 2017 WT Article
by Ding inthe february 2017 wt had stated that the gb is "neither inspired nor infallible" and that it can make errors in doctrine.. the language of the online wt issue now says, “the governing body is neither inspired nor perfect.
therefore, it can make mistakes when explaining the bible or directing the organization.”.
why the change?

Its not the first time they have done that and it wont be the last .
What about Judge Rutherfords "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" talk .
Changed to ,
"Millions Now Living May Never Die"
The Governing Body speak out of both sides of their mouth .
They hedge their bets .
They have each-way bets .
If you pin-point them down on one statement they just bring up their alternative statement explained as new light.

Navigating the "real world"
by Minerva inalthough i haven't called myself a witness in almost 15 years, i'm still married to one (which has it's own set of challenges and is fodder for a completely different post).
i haven't spent a lot of time on forums with other ex-jws either, but thought i would throw this question out to you all because it's something i still struggle with.... particularly for those of you who were raised in or were in the religion for many years - what has it been like for you to navigate the work world?
i would be a 3rd generation jw on one side of my family and a 4th generation on the other side -- the hardest thing for me has been just knowing how to act and behave, especially among co-workers.

Hi Minerva ,welcome to this site ,glad to have you on board. I wonder if you fall into the catergory of one who has left the "truth" however the "truth" has never left you .
I`m thinking this may be the case because of hubby still being an active JW and your still being subjected to watchtower dogma through him. And of course influences from other "in" JW relatives.?
Have you really proved to yourself that the JW religion is no more "true" than any other man made religion ?
If not I would suggest looking up JWfacts and reading Don Camerons "Captives Of A Concept" by a former Elder available from LULU
Congratulations on obtaining your Bachelors and Masters and working at a University.Well done
I think you just need to shake off all that is JWism and embrace the real world we all live in.
Take care .

Visit to my Psychiatrist today
by James Mixon ini told him i communicate with my dog, my dog informed me that the cute little french poodle two doors south is a slut.
my orange tree is not producing fruit this year, so i cursed it and told it i want you out of yard.and then i told him the other day i was at the race track (horses) and while passing the stables old turkey told me he will win his race today.
what do you think my psychiatrist diagnose for me.

I think he would / should have told you to go and see another Psychiatrist ,however your dog needs not to be so judgemental about his peers. Talk to him.
Maybe your dog needs to see a psychiatrist.
Hey , put me in contact with old turkey , I need a few winners today , you cant beat a tip that comes from the horses mouth .
"Every person on this earth is evil except my family ?" That does not compute : It should read " Every evil person on this earth is not one of my family."
haver a good day.JM
You obviously need it.

Awkward exchange with my JW sister in law regarding the circle of life
by TTWSYF inso we were at another family members home for a random celebration when the nature channel showed a killer whale eating a seal and my sister in law was horrified.
we made a joke about the circle of life and i said something along the lines of 'everything that lives must die, the bible says every king must die, so even jesus wasn't immune'.
after that comment there was an awkward silence with our jw family whispering to each other about my comment of dying.. once upon a time i asked my uber elder jw brother if he thought that he would not die and he asked me if i knew when god would start armageddon.

Maybe not in this Solar System , but somewhere else in the Universe their is a lifeform that see`s / views , humans , as a source of food , for them to survive.
It`s not so far fetched really , if you think about it.

Why did Jehovah's Witnesses release the Byington and New Jerusalem Bibles in the early 70s , and forget about them in the 80s?

Byingtons Bible along with other JW publications is what I dumped in the garbage bin when I had had enough of JW`s
I do believe they only used that version because it had the name Jehovah in it.
Maybe I should have kept the Bibles.and just thrown away their other books.
The catholic version by Knox ? that used the name Yahweh in the Old Testament did JW`s ever print that ?
Just wondering

That One Defining Moment That Changed Your Life.
by new boy init seems that many times in life there is a moment or an action that changes your whole world.
it could be just a look that someone gives you.. many times it can be something rather small.
something hardly noticeable by anyone but you.

That was a comment I made to a co-worker one time about the wonders of the human body , apparently he was a born in just coming back into the "truth" after being stumbled previously and after working with him for a number of years knowing he was" different" confided he was a JW , which I had never heard of at that time and I was 19.
Curiosity got me to read any and everything he had , the name of God Jehovah being the defining mark.
That was what got me into the religion
After about 10 years in the religion a couple we hadnt seen in a few years called on us to say they were now living interstate and encouraged us to join them ,within 6 months later we went interstate and remained for the next 37 years
That was two defining moments in our lives. and not all bad I might add.Their were some positives.

Jesus and the fig tree, what are jws taught?
by Crazyguy inin the story in the gospel of mark, mark writes that jesus is hungry and comes across a fig tree.
mark explains that it not in season yet jesus upon finding the fig tree has produced no fruit kills the tree.. this story makes no sense if literal so do the gun teach that it literally happened?.
