it's like I've been conditioned to think one way and one way only all my life...and here I'm seeing people that used to be pioneers, elders and more saying that they have the same doubts that I have had most of my life I guess it's time to 'recondition' my thinking =)

Ok so I've been reading thru the posts here for the last week or so since I found it. And I just am amazed I think or I don't know...I feel something that I can't quite put my finger on. It's like this... I was raised in 'the truth' as many here were. I have spent A LOT of time around witnesses...it has basically been my whole life. When I go to the meetings I look around and see these people that are 'looking the part'. After reading thru some of these posts it really makes me wonder how many at he hall really are 'dedicated' to the cause. I guess I had this 'angelic' view of everyone that was a witness....that I must have been devil child because I had doubts and didn't agree with lots of things....now I'm realizing that 'HEY!' there are lots of devil children in the organization! lol I think my eyes are more open to things now...and honestly for the last week I've been wondering if maybe my dad has ever had these same kind of thoughts I have. He and I are SO much alike...we think alike on so many things that it wouldn't surprise me if he had this type of thought process. He also brought the computer/internet to the family back in the day....and he is on the computer A LOT looking stuff up like old war buddies (was in the army b4 he became a JW) and when AOL came out he used to like to go to the JW chat rooms and get people all up in the air about his comments.....I'm going to have to feel around and see with him.... Anyway I kinda went off my topic there but bottom line I'm seeing witnesses in a different light now....like not all of them are 100% dedicated....some might be on the edge just hangin around for nothing better to do....hmmm...interesting anyway sry bout my rambling....I don't know if I made the point I intended to make...but I sure tried ;p lol edit: how the heck to make paragraphs....

stupid things jws do
by logic ini like this site because you can say what is the truth, the things you would like to stand up in the congregation and say.
for just a few: the last par.
in the watchtower study says "what are we going to study in the next article" and then some moron always raises his hand and answers....... calling everyone by brother this and brother that.

there was one sister I LOVED going out in service with....she was a full time pioneer and an elder's wife (very sweet lady). we'd start our time by putting some magazines in an apartment laundry mat....then go do some 'not at homes' in a territory she had. we'd get out of the car and she would say to me 'Rosie you are walking too fast, you need to learn the 'pioneer stroll' So she'd slow me down, we'd look at the flowers check out the houses, talk about stuff and hit maybe 2 or 3 not at homes in an hour LOL. Then she'd say, coffee sure sounds good doesn't it? She'd leave a tract with someone there and so we basically counted our time THE WHOLE time...it was great....only thing it ..it was hard trying to get her as a partner in service cuz EVERYONE wanted to go out w/her haha... pioneer stroll silly really

Hi
by rosiegurl inmy name is rosie.
i'm 36, have 3 kids and was raised in the 'truth'.. since i was about 18 i realized that things weren't quite 'right' but stuck around mostly because my family is so much a part of it that if i left i'd have nobody.
i've been df'd 2 times...got reinstated the last time with the intention to just drift away after so that i could stay around my family and do my own thing.

by rosiegurl inforgive me in advance if i seem to not really know alot....i didn't pay really close attention at the meetings when i was a kid and i kinda just wasn't into it when i was an adult...i just kinda 'did what they said to do' >.< i know horrible.. but...here is my question.
wasn't the 'no blood thing' from the old testament?
and part of the laws given to the isrealites...the laws that jesus put an end to when he was born and gave his life for our sins?

Lisa:
My 13 yr old doesn't really talk much to my parents about the things he and I discuss. He learned along time ago from me that what is discussed in our little family stays in our little family. He made a few mistakes early on when he was younger and mentioned some topics we discussed....and realized what I meant...now he understands that they don't need or have the right to know everything about our lives (which they'd love to know if we'd just share it lol).
In regard to celebrating holidays....it's entirely up to my son... he does feel a bit like it's wrong to do so....so I'm letting him just work thru that. We don't celebrate anything at our home as we live VERY close to my parents and it's just not one of those fights I'm willing to pick atm...my son grew up not celebrating anhthing as did I...we are really not missing it and hey...the not spending money we don't have on gifts thing works too lol (I know! how cheap am I! lol)
Thanks for the welcome....it's reall nice =)

Let Kids see Dub Grandparents or?
by brunnhilde inmy mom and dad love my son, but i also know because of the depth of their brainwashing, they won't be respectful of my parenting (as i've asked them) and will try to "plant seeds" with him.
he's only 7, loves his grandma and papa very much and is easily confused and distressed when he gets conflicting info.
since we left the dubs, we've had a couple different run-ins with my parents trying subtle and not so subtle means to get at my son, or more accurately, get at me.

That's a hard call situation really.
Grandparents are an important part of a childs life. I'd say just keep the lines of communication open with your child and let him know there is always other ways to do things. I only had one grand parent growing up and feel as if I missed out.....it enriches childrens life to have them around and hear their experiences....but bottom line it's totally your call and your comfort zone =)

Forgive me in advance if I seem to not really know alot....I didn't pay really close attention at the meetings when I was a kid and I kinda just wasn't into it when I was an adult...I just kinda 'did what they said to do' >.< I know horrible.
BUT...here is my question. Wasn't the 'no blood thing' from the old testament? and part of the laws given to the Isrealites...the laws that Jesus put an end to when he was born and gave his life for our sins? If I understand correctly the slave class want us to follow a law that Jesus abolished. I will have to pull out my Bible and get the scriptures cuz I'm SURE I remember there being a scripture saying Jesus came to abolish or clear or somethign to that effect the law. And so we were to live by the 'principals' of the law but no longer were bound by that law.
Just curious..maybe I was listening at those meetings...or maybe I just caught a few things here and there and put them together wrong...anyone care to help me on this one?
