  You mean they DON'T get all that wrong stuff from God? Shoot! You just ruined my day. I'll have to go off and find another goofy cult now. I just HATE that part! And that will mess up the shopping I need to do today. Dang!

  Farkel makes notes here: dubs are a zero. Find a new cult to worship and give your life, money and energies to so they can live on after they took your money and you die....this makes perfect sense to me.....

  Thank you for your kind words, everyone. I feel very proud to have to such warm and special friends. Most people would deem themselves lucky to be in that wonderful situation.

  That's a fun read, but in order to get a better glimps of my feelings, I also suggest you read Richard Bach's next book: "Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah." It's in paperback and is very fun: full of great aphorisms and simple, yet "deep" (shuuder to use THAT word) thoughts on life and its meaning.

I have no use for the silly and insane notions of the "ransom" or "orginal sin," though, and I suspect that the more you think about it, the more you might tend to see how absurd they really are. IF God does exist, and IF God does care, then he must care equally for all of the human family, and that would include Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, agnostics and even atheists. A truly caring and benovelent God would not care
  if He was worshipped or not. Why should He care? Would a truly caring human father want his own children to worship him?

  If our life on this planet is just a small fragment of a bigger continuum, it would explain many things. If our life on this planet is all there is, it would also explain many things. At any rate, we all die. That's the only constant. After that, who knows?
  I had no problem with non-existence before I existed here on earth, so I'm certain I will have no problem with non-existence after I take my last breath here on earth, if that is the way it is to be. In the meantime, being the cautious person that I am, I'm not wasting any of those breaths.

  Thanks Lauralisa and you too, Friday,

  Dad is not taking his last days in a rest home kindly. He has left the facility at night several times to go "home" to my Mother (they've been married 55 years) only to get lost and confused. Mom visits him several times a week, but it is very difficult for her because over several hours, she will only get a few coherent sentences out of him. We're not the only family to have to go through this painful process, but now it is out of the realm of books and anecdotes and is very real in my life. My dad was convinced twenty/thirty years ago when he was very vigorous and strong that he would never die. He now knows that he will indeed, die. Mother tells me that he sits alone and cries and cries and just keeps saying he would like to die. My dad only cried twice around me in 53 years of my life. Now he cries frequently. His "Brothers" don't visit him. They haven't visited him since he could no longer handle his duties as the Magazine servant (or whatever they are called these days.) As soon as he was no longer useful to the congregation/society, he was no longer worthy of any attention.

  The whole thing breaks my heart. If I go to his dub funeral and all I hear is a sales-pitch for the WTS, I'm going to take my right as his oldest son and march up to the platform and tell those folks in the audience what a great man my Dad really was; how he taught me to use tools, my hands, how to do lots of stuff and then I'm going to tell those bastards that I will NOT let them use my Father's death to promote a religion. The religion will go on. My dad will get his final eulogy from me. It won't be from those "Brothers" who read a script at a funeral. It will come from me. Mom will be pissed. I don't care. I'm going to send my Dad into the dirt with some very good things to say about him. Because after he's in the dirt, no one but close family will care.

  And those bastards at the Hall can go fuck themselves and say whatever they want to say about me behind my back. They have no power over me anymore, anyway. They're victims of a Cult that tells them how to think and even worse, tells them how to FEEL.

  And that is it about that.

  How are sales of your book doing? Sorry I couldn't get that professor to review even one chapter of it. He could have made a fast several hundred bucks. He'd rather have his fingernails pulled out one-by-one than take that money and waste his time. So we pulled out his fingernails one-by-one and he said that was the better option.

  And another thing: he says that I'm a GREAT writer and guarantees that if I write a book he will get it published. Since he's a published author himself (he has written a tome on the Titanic among many other things in his distinguished career and is well-respected around the world), he ain't jiving me. Doesn't it just PISS YOU OFF that he wouldn't review a SINGLE CHAPTER of your book for MONEY, yet has been pleading with me for over two years to write a book on dubs?

  The reason is simple: I talk to the folks and you are a pompous windbag, you pompous windbag.
