"Watchtower" is a term from witchcraft NOT Scripture
by FuzzyPaul inhas anyone else ever noticed that there is no watchtower in scripture as part of any particular teaching but there is prominent use of watchtower in dungeons and dragons type games and forms of witchcraft including spells involving watchtower?

Amber, how'd you get involved in the first place? I agree the religion is stupid, but it must have seemed intelligent to you at some point if it seems unintelligent now. If you step back and gain even MORE perpsective ALL religions are stupid. Every bit as stupid as believing in the Flying Spagetti Monster or the Invisible Pink Unicorn. In order for a religion to NOT seem asinine and ludicrous like the FSM and the IPU it has to have somehow become a part of the culture, of consensual reality. Jesus is every bit as fake and stupid as the IPU and FSM but that fable is part of the culture.
How do you suppose people in mooga-mooga (not a real country) who've never heard of Jeebus Creebus react to the looney story of a dead Jew who was a godman and died for the sins of the world then came back to life and flew into the sky without a propulsion system or the principles of aerodynamics? They think it's pretty damned stupid.. Most converts from these sorts of countries are gotten by giving them food and clothes, medical care. If you were starving and sick, or your kids were, wouldn't YOU convert to the IPU or the FSM for food, clothing, shelter, and medical care? I would. I'd tell my kids its some crazy whackjob shiite though.
Anyway, I'm rambling. Sorry. Religion is astonishing to me.

Thanks guys! Your encouragaing remarks are encouraging. I feel edified, except by the referecne to the IPU. I was once taken in by clever fakes such as the IPU! I knew she existed because she was invisible. If she didn't exist, how could she be invisible? I knew by faith that she was pink. But I didn't know that she is a mere emanation of THE FLYING SPAGETTI MONSTER! I too was touched by his noodly appendage and NOT in an inappropriate locartion or manner.

Wow! Hey! Thanks for so many replies! I was unsure how to catch anyone's eye on a board with so many people posting. I still have an older sister in the bOrg, so that's a real concern. Nah, no preaching here. Just trying to make a splashy entrance and not shove my foot tooo far up my mouth in the process. I've been lurking here for quite some time and have enjoyed the posts of MANY of you. I think this is a very helpful place. We really prolly otter make up some songs and poems directed specifically to the GB so we piss 'em off when they DO take a peek here. As to religion, I no longer have one. I do consider myself a "spiritual" person though as I already know many of you here do as well. I was very sacreligious after leaving the Dubs until I had an NDE. None of the "scientific" explanations hold up. I used to think it was all caused by hypoxia until I had my NDE. Not. Any. More. I do know that Jehovah is not real, that "God" is not some Person seperate from us, and selfless LOVE is the final reality. It's all you take with you when your body dies. I poke a lot of fun at crazy human religions and ideas about God. The first thing everyone needs to get straight is that She is black. Oh, and being a Pastafarian is a much better idea than being a Baptist or a Dub. At least the Flying Spaghetti Monster doesn't kill people and most of us really LIKE spaghetti. - Martin

Embrace the moment and get out and have as much fun as you can before someone is shoveling dirt in your face. For the younger folks, your whole lives are open to you. Chuck religion. Don't be a chump and exchange Despot A for Despot B. Live your life, be your own person. Unless you really are, deep down, a "sheep-like one" and need a herd of identical thinkers around you that reinforce your religious delusion. Try standing on your own instead. You might find you like it. For the ex-JWs that became fundamentalists: How is Hellfire Jehovah any improvement over Annihilation Jehovah? Hellfire Jehovah is much worse. Think about it. Would you rather be mercifully annihilated or tortured by fire forever? Many of you seem to be still very confused people. You simply gave up one small mental cage for a somewhat larger mental cage, but the zookeeper is way worse than before.
I'm one of the GB by the way and we all get a kick out of reading your stories. I'm kidding of course, but surely you realize this board must be one of their favorite reads? The sturm und drang, the angst, they've caused you must surely be deeply satisfying to such sick and perverse dired up old hateful sub-humans.
