My dad left the religion years ago, but my mom is still an active JW. I'm pretty sure they hate each other now. :(

Observations about dubs as people...
by Princess Daisy Boo ini was thinking back on some of the people i knew growing up, as well as my own family - many of whom are dubs... tell me what your own experiences are of these kind of people, did you notice a large prevalence of these types of people in the congs you attended:.
1. health nuts: into all sorts of alternative health theories like iridology, reflexology, homeopathy etc?
2. get rich quick folk: always getting involved in this scheme or that, this business or that - especially pyramid type things?.

lol my 2 sisters and I each married good JW boys (only my oldest sister is still married, but I digress), and all 3 of those guys' fathers have their own businesses (2 of them are elders).
One was a carpet cleaning company, one was a construction company and the third painted houses.

When I was a JW, I knew many brothers and sisters who were going to wait for the "new system" in which to have children. They did wait...for a little while.
They now all have children. Guess they were enlightened.

Hot Food at the DCs past...What was it like?
by bronzefist ini came in to the "loving" organization when they had the nasty cold food so i dont know how good the hot cooked food was.
my ex says it was pretty good, but should i have belived her?

I wasn't allowed to get the hot meals. I'm not really sure why. I'll bet it's because my mom didn't want to wait in the really long hot lunch line. We always got hoagies instead.

I knew so many who were into the home parties (Tupperware, etc.) so they wouldn't have to work and would be able to pioneer. Almost all the mothers were stay-at-home-moms too. I often wondered what kind of jobs their husbands held. I was often embarrassed to admit that I was a working mother lol.

How'd you pick your Avatar and/or Username? (Share a little bio?)
by Open mind ineven though you might think it's painfully obvious, explain why you chose your avatar and/or username.
it could help us faceless "netizens" get to know each other a little better.
open mind.

I don't think I have an avatar yet.
My username is referencing my daughter. She took dance classes a couple of years ago. The 124 is her birth date (January 24th).

Oooh, here's a good one. My ex-husband is disassociated. He's remarried and has a beautiful 2 year old daughter with his current wife. Ex-husband's parents are VERY strict JWs. They not only shunned their son, but they shunned his daughters too! For awhile, they only shunned the 2 year old. Their reasoning was that he made his choice and that includes his children too. ?????? However, they were still seeing the child he and I have together (she's 6), but since they just found out I've been inactive for quite awhile, they stopped seeing her as well.
When the ex and I were still married, we lived down the street from them. We skipped many meetings. Everytime we skipped one, his father would knock on our door afterwards to find out why we didn't go.
And those are just a couple of examples. Those people are crazy.
