Haha, I probably would have. Most of my friends left the borg before I did.

Would you have made friends with the type of friends you had as a witness,?
by LouBelle ini ask this because when i look back on some of the friends i had back when i was a witness, they were so much work (not all).
plus a lot of them were rather nerdy / sheltered.
not that i thought myself as uber cool, but i was street smart and had to grow up early in life and had a few responsiblities on my plate.

I'm Engaged!!!
by bluesbreaker59 inso late last week, i decided that the time was right, and i asked my girlfried to marry me.
i had asked her father earlier in the week for his blessing, which he gave.
we had visited my mother (also df'd) in georgia prior to that, and mom and her hit it off.

What Was Lousy About Being A JW For You?
by minimus inwas it that you never got holiday candy until the day after?.
that you couldn't be a "normal" kid?.
that you always were feeling restricted, depressed and angry???.

I was born into it and didn't really know any different. With that said, I didn't realize it was lousy until I was out. I do have to say, though, I always felt really left out during school holiday parties.

Do JWs Shun You?
by minimus inrecently, i've heard from various jw family members that either i am viewed as "close to being an apostate" because i had made some comments suggesting that the fds is clearly wrong on many issues over the years or that i "have left jehovah" and therefor by my new way of life, i must be shunned.
while visiting my dying non jw uncle in the hospital, i was told outrightly that it was wished that i never showed my face and that my mere presence was objectionable and that since i "left jehovah", they could not talk to me any longer.. their viewpoints saddened me because they said all this in front of my uncle who can barely respond to anything.
his reaction: he cried his eyes out!

The only ones in my family still in the religion are my mother, aunt and sister. None of them shun me. I have 2 friends who are still technically JW's and neither one of them shun me either. I suppose everyone else would (if I ever actually made it to the KH, which I refuse to do), but I don't care since none of them mean anything to me.

Most Awkward, Embarrassing, Comical things you Experienced as a Witness ?
by flipper inmany of us i'm sure experienced embarrassing or comical moments as a witness.
some things we'd rather just forget , i'm sure, but some things helped us think on our feet, quickly in helping others .
here are a few of mine.

RR, my ex-husband and I used to do that when we were dating, but we were very discreet. I would drape my jacket around me so that no one could see him reaching his down down the front of my dress.

You should have it checked out to make sure you don't have dry socket or whatever it's called. Btw, the "caverns" do close up. ;)

My dad left the religion years ago, but my mom is still an active JW. I'm pretty sure they hate each other now. :(
