Gary,
Congratulations. You do realize that your courage is the reason that he is not part of a mind control cult. No matter what else you do in this life- you have made sure that a 5 year old gets to celebrate his birthday. I'm happy for you.

i'm just wondering how many who are still "in" have stopped carrying an" advanced medical directive"( blood card)
I am a little more fearful of the consequences of past documents that are floating around out there. I wrote- "This document does not reflect my current wishes" and crossed out all of the pages. Its in my desk- not my wallet. In my wallet it would take room away from my blood donor card.
i know i am going to get caught being on here...and i don't want to get caught, but i need support or i will lose my mind.
how can i give information about my convention without someone figuring out who i am?
(i am not important i know that, but i know so many people in the organization) .
BonaFide-
Your feelings remind me of my own. A few months ago, I went back to meeting to see friends and while they were singing I had a feeling of complete isolation. They were singing words that I had sung hundreds, maybe thousands of times, but this time, I was reading the words first. And the words to the songs are (besides being rythmically and melodically atrocious) judgemental, rejoicing in destruction, narrow minded, and focused on giving glory to the organization. I was so digusted that I could not sing. I felt like a man who could see at a convention of the blind (no offense to the visually impaired). In a world where I had been at the center, I all at once felt like a stranger. But I kept up appearances.
The control mechanisms of the Borg are no trifle.
Keep looking and you will find.

besides the folks walking with signs at each convention, what was your first taste of "apostasy"?
my first interesting experience happened within the kingdom hall.
my congregation in dallas (farmers branch) was in the same district as the bonham congregation which was about 70 miles northeast of dallas.. http://governingbodyletters.blogspot.com/2008/04/who-owns-kingdom-halls.html.
Its absolutely amazing that a "suspected" apostate was allowed to give talks in neighboring congregations. Are any of those elders on this board?? Have their stories ever been told here?? I heard about this case at Bethel, but I always wanted to hear the "rest of the story"
what was wrong with the 'green bible'?.
i understand (rightly or wrongly) that the 'green' had occult connotations that some did not approve of.. is this true and were the early jws too involved with hidden, esoteric, occult meaning that 'others' found uncomfortable and so they had to go to the sobre black bibles?.
Knorr felt that green was the color of life. Green bible. Green walls in the factory. Green windows (frames) on all of the factory buildings. Green logo on some of the letterhead.
a friend (who no longer attends meetings) told me about an incident about seven years ago in north carline involving one of her male friends.
this friend has ceased believing the society's diatribe for some time and was only staying in it in order to associate with friends and family.
he had visited a friend in a town about 30 miles away and heard a sunday talk from one of that congregations elders.
I'd love to know the scriptural basis for that disfellowshipping- "Fornicators, idolators and bevis and butthead will not inherit Gods Kingdom."????
results of a recent research shows that there are 7 kinds of sex:.
the 1st kind of sex is called: smurf sex.. * this kind of sex happens when you first meet.
someone and you both have sex until you are.
Well- you know what they say- if you keep a jar by the bed and put a penny in the jar every time you have sex before you get married and then take a penny out every time you have sex after you get married- the jar will never go empty!!!
i've got the book, starting the scan now!!
will have it online in a bit.
i have a manual (not sheetfed) scanner, so it's a manual process.
Oh, and I forgot one- Simplicity. Everything that a young person faces will be simple- able to be solved with, what 16 font on two small pages- about 75 words at most. Name the issue- anorexia, drug abuse, teen pregnancy, parental abuse- all simple issues solved with simple statements. "Just forgive him." "You may be taking this too seriously" etc, etc.

I know that the consensus feeling is disgust. But I am really sad for all of the teenagers who will swallow this hook, line and sinker. While the "creative thinking" department at Bethel is reduced to .5 people, the propaganda department must have well over 1000 people. Every kid with a media studies associates degree (bachelors degrees are from the Debil) is coming up with better ways to sell the same ole, same ole.
Slick packaging. 21st century, MTV graphics. 1950s morality. Prehistoric values.
Sad.

july 6, 2008 tablet ignites debate on messiah and resurrection by ethan bronner jerusalem a three-foot-tall tablet with 87 lines of hebrew that scholars believe dates from the decades just before the birth of jesus is causing a quiet stir in biblical and archaeological circles, especially because it may speak of a messiah who will rise from the dead after three days.
if such a messianic description really is there, it will contribute to a developing re-evaluation of both popular and scholarly views of jesus, since it suggests that the story of his death and resurrection was not unique but part of a recognized jewish tradition at the time.
Classic biblical archeology.
Fundamentalists (including JWs) will jump up and down saying that there is now proof that the biblical timelines were correct and that Jews were expecting a messiah and here is more proof that Jesus is the promised one.
The rest of the world will say- "Oh- so being resurrected in 3 days was a typical thing in 1st century religion- so the gospel writers needed to include that reference in order to give the story legitimacy."
Meanwhile- all we really have is a rock with a smudged phrase on it.
