What's the BEST thing about being "out" of the "truth"?

it's amazing how they teach you that only jws can be your real friends, but in reality, it's all contingent upon your religious "performance.
" sure, if you're not going to meetings, they'll try to be "friends," by encouraging you to go back.

New family situation, and I'm HOT!!!

she's telling me about what happened to her this weekend.
apparently my scumbag of an uncle (non-jw, he faded) came home drunk, and pushing her around, raising cane, and apparently hit her a few times.

god loves unconditionally, but only certain ones, god is going to save the world from its downward spiral, but first of all he is going to destroy millions of evil people.
it is all so fatalistic and unkind.

Mum and Dad were very supportive when all of this happened. As far as they were concerned, I was a good, heterosexual, ministerial servant. Sometimes it is easier to see what you want to see.
Its only now, that I have left 'The Truth' that i have lost their support. When i stopped pretending it wasn't an issue, was when they had to turn their backs. Sad, but thats what the WTBTS does to families.
Welcome to the board, um, I wonder what you would like us to call you as your username is quite long (but clever)! Your story is only too familiar to so many of us - I'm not a gay man, or a man for that matter, but I can relate wholeheartedly to the psychological torture of being dragged into the back room for questioning, and the line of questioning being appalling! In the end it was a good thing for me to go through, as it helped me to wake up and realize this is not the Truth. Though I am sorry for the humiliation you endured, and the nightmares, I'm glad for you that you saw the truth of these men.
I highlighted your above quote because this is EXACTLY how my parents have been to me - even when I was disfellowshipped they were really supportive of me because I was attending meetings, studying my Watchtower, being a good little girl. But when, after being reinstated, I deliberately rejected their religion, simply walking away from it and saying "I am no longer one of you" they were then obligated to shun me! So sad what happens to families! This tearing apart of families is on the Watchtower Society's shoulders, like so much else.

It's "lie through my teeth" time again.
by easyreader1970 inwell, the elders are coming over tomorrow for a shepherding call with me and my wife.
i am sure they will discuss my low hours in the field ministry and how i am not doing everything i could be doing.
for my wife's sake, i will be good and mostly "smile and nod".

FLIPPER - I am an ex-jw or shall i say i was never baptized but all this witness bashing is weak. I know good witness bashing when i see it, so far i havent on here at least. Funny enough most of my issues with witnesses are from people like the TS. For years i've seeing people go the easy route and just lie and they get all the respect and love from the witnesses meanwhile people like me and my friends get judged just cause we werent doing as good when in all reality we were the best little witness kids around (looking back). so to me when i see people like you guys, you guys are a part of the corruption.
Also, there is a BIG difference between being a baptized adult in the religion and being an unbaptized witness kid in the religion. I am sorry for what you went through, but you don't have to rip easyreader apart because of it. In his first post he stated that the elders will give him a hard time for his low field service time, and for not doing all that he could be. So he is not putting on some kind of show acting like a holier-than-though Witness. He is viewed as weak, or else he wouldn't be getting a shepherding call. The people who are part of the corruption are pedophile elders and the governing body, to name a few, not people like easyreader. IMHO. Rachel
