WHO ARE THE FALSE PROPHETS TODAY?
by Dogpatch inwho are the false prophets today.
by barbara anderson.
in 1991, one of the watch tower societys senior writers, colin quackenbush, told me in the privacy of his office about letters which the society had received from prominent and credible elders, not apostates (thats exactly what he said), who were concerned about the increase in accusations saying that jehovahs witnesses were false prophets.

To any JW apologist: how would you answer the question "WHO RUNS THE WATCHTOWER BIBLE AND TRACT SOCIETY?"

Faithful slave has been around since the 1st Century?? So why DIDN'T Charles Russell join them?
by Witness 007 inthe watchtower claims there has been a "faithful slave" since jesus time till now so.....why did russell go independent and start his own group of bible students?
why did he claim the title for himself alone?.

But I liked Apostolic Succession............
Sure, and i used to think i was going to live forever. :) (The above is just another interpretation, pointing to a separating of the weeds and the wheat IN THE KINGDOM as a future event not in 1919..blah blah blah....King has his own problems so ill leave this alone......)
No matter how you cut it theres no escaping the fact the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society isnt connected with 1st century christianity other than eshewing a bible interpretation for their followers that will listen.

(2 Timothy 3:16-17) All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving...so.. Dont question anything. Study everyting but dont question anything.
actually that isnt even true, as there is a few spots in the bible where the author , stops refering to the Lord , and says"ok, this, is from me"..paraphrasing.......so you cant even say ALL scripture is inspired, never mind that no original copy exists.....
- 1 Corinthians 7:12
- But to the rest speak I, not the Lord.
- 1 Corinthians 7:25
- Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment....

(E-Watchman) Robert Kings answer: From 2004
My question is this: Who was the F&DS during the intervening years, say 100 CE to
1879 CE, as Jesus said he would be with them until the end of time. Who 'fed' Russell?
From what I understand, the F&DS feed the 'domestics'. So who was the F&DS
during these years and who were the domestics? There is no account of Russell being
contacted by any F&DS.We notice in the teachings of Christ this peculiarity: He always referred to his second
coming or presence as if it were going to take place immediately following his first
appearance. For instance, as a prelude to his discussion of the faithful slave, Jesus said to
his apostles: "You also, keep ready, because at an hour that you do not think likely the
Son of man is coming."
Obviously, Jesus knew full well that he was not "coming" during the apostles' lifetime; but
yet he speaks in the present tense to the slaves who would be alive in the run-up to his
coming. What's the point? The point is that as far as the prophecies are concerned, there are
only two relevant periods of Christianity: the apostolic period following Christ's first
coming, and the period immediately preceding his second coming, are the only two
significant stages presented in the Scriptures.
Keep in mind, too, that the reason Jesus couched his discussion of the faithful slave in the
form of a question, as in "who really is the faithful and discreet slave?" is because it would
only become conclusive who that slave is when the master finally arrives.(oy vey!)

This is THE reason I left the WTBTS. I just couldnt allow for this. I could buy into all the other crap but THIS I couldnt make any excuses for try as hard as i could.
Prior to 1993, when i left, I found this material was published by a former circuit overseer named Don Frye.He wrote a kind of treatise on it.if memory serves, and it just blew me away...
You can add to this conversation that the WTS teaches that the Jerusalem congregation held the GOVERNING BODY. That governing body spearheaded the work and should of taken the lead in passing the light, dim as it was, through succeeding generations of christians. When Russell was digging around for truth, shouldnt he have joined the already existing slave class with or without a governing body?
The society says the light was shinning dimly and the lollards, waldenses and others were annointed during those centuries. Yet there are GAPS of time where no one coudl qualify as an annointed class.
IF the faithful and discreet slave class of Math 24 was under the direct control of JESUS himself back in the first century he failed at supervising its continuity. There could not have been a continous uninterupted existence since Jesus supposedly appointed them in 33 Pentecost, when 120 were "fed" by holy spirit, which class became a close knit body, feeding successive generation after generation until there was an UNEQUIVICAL identification made by Jesus in early 1918/19. As Ray Franz has pointed out in his book ISOCF, the Society was built around I person who didnt consulted any existing Faithful slave class.
The intresting thing is that the Society LOVES to say that Jehovah deals with us THROUGH an organization, hence the faithful and discreet slave CLASS, NOT THROUGH an individual AND YET THATS EXACTLY how Jesus is supposed to have acted in choosing Charles Taze Russell and individual who consulted NO CLASS of christians save perhaps the Adventists WHOM he did not join.
THIS is enough for any thinking person to to be honest enough to question the validity of the WTS. UNLESS OF COURSE JESUS has changed his mind ..........

Why JWs are unreliable and why they can be called false.
First when they say the that the light gets brigher and brighter it usually refers to an ORGANIZATIONAL understanding with the guidance of the holy spirit.
But then on the OTHER HAND it THERE ARE TIMES it takes on a different meaning. Like when Rutherford himself said that it was revealed to him that the great crowd doctrine of Rev7 9, and the other sheep of John 10 were the same group , HE GOT" lightning flashes in the spiritual temple" in 1935. You can add to that that the sociey has called itself a prophet organization.
Therefore when the Society speaks DOGMATICALLY on a subject or a date, as seen in the past, they have made those claims of proof but when things go wrong progressive revelation just means enhanced knowledge.
All the predictions by Russell and Rutherford never happened. All the chronlogies from the past have been abandoned.
So JWs now always like to say that they arent inspired prophets but Jehovah is guiding them. But what we always get is a distinction without a difference. Be dogmatic about certain things but when they dont happen then well we arent infallble or inspired.
Thats not very reliable or truthful.

God has two principle channels for communication: His inspired word and his holy spirit (active force).
.
Holy crap ..you have a copy of the original bible? cuz none of what we have today is inspired! what do you mean. Do you mean the slant the JWs put into NWT so as to showcase their doctrines so that you can call it inspired? Inspired how then? The holy spirit inspired Fred Franz and the rest of the translation committee? Cuz if thats what you mean then SHOULDNT the holy spirit have come through when they made all THEM PREDICTIONS?

Christianity gives you.........umm.......uh.............................................?
by Terry inthat's right, nothing.. you get struck on the cheek and you pony up for the other slap.. your pray for the enemy who wants you face down in the mud with his heel on your neck.. you get treated like pond scum and force a smile and forgive.. abused?
forgive and forget.. need help desperately?
when nothing happens, chalk it up to your unworthiness and lack of faith.. .

Appreciate that Terry.
However I do think Christianity does give ppl "something". Think of all the farm workers in Ecuador, RIGHT NOW, that toil in desperation. Grief stricken, tormented by poverty, yes they survive and they have but ONE single solitary HOPE. The hope that the local church has given them. The cross that hangs around there necks, whilst they TOIL, gives them the urge to battle on because not only do they need to feed their families but ..............................HALT!!!!!!!!!!..screeching HALT!...yeah ur right, theyd still be working with or withour Jesus around their necks..HEHEHE

Dear Debator,
Just a thought....
Take the Bible and the way The Society, and by extension Jehovahs Witnesses view the bible. JWs believe that the ORIGINAL TEXTS were inspired. The Society has been HONEST in admitting that no translation is inspired.
Im sure you would agree with that. Its common knowledge and certainly not controversial.
However, even though no translation today is inspired, The JWs bible is seen as the ultimate translation, the BEST translation. and although not inspired the NWT translation is the basis for JWs beliefs. , it displays the JW doctines most closely. Closer than any other bible around it shows the JW doctrines and in actuality its a translation that justifies the JW beliefs. Its easy to use the NW translation as a basis for JW beliefs. Sure u can use the KIng James but the NWT conforms most closely to JW doctine.
And thats the way it is with JW prophecy.
Make a translation that is best suited for JW beliefs THEN make great claims, great speculations, great utterances, based on such. When such claims go unfulfilled simply say we arent inspired just on the watch.
If we are honest, The END RESULT must be. to call into question the entire religion.
If we are dishonest the result will be to ignore, disfuse, squash, and vilify any skepticism on the part of onlookers or insiders.
