my step-father did the wt study today. the PO commented on the 3rd par. which talks about divorce in the world saying that "some in the world have not only been divorced once but two or three times..." this is my step-dad's 4th marriage. i had a good chuckle to myself.

he was a witness through his first three marriages. and none of his divorces were on scriptural grounds. infact his exwife had to sign a document saying it was ok for him to remarry so he could marry my mom. now's he on stage givin advice on staying together. lol.

yes, there are several of us that either have to go to the crap-assed assembly this year, or simply because we plan on taking notes and posting them here.

knowing how bloody boring the entire thing is, i've made some tips up on how you can keep awake during the 2007 borefest:are you really going to the assembly this year?

are you ready to fall asleep by 10:05am when the opening song and prayer are over?

DID YOU DEDICATE YOURSELF BEFORE BAPTISM OR DID YOU LIE?

i was just wondering when you where going through the questions for baptism did you know you had to dedicate yourself to jehovah before hand or did you lie?.

i didn't know i had to so when i went through the questions i had to lie and say i had.

i always felt bad about it afterwards and quickly did a little prayer that night.

i was really confused as to what i was supposed to do. since i wasnt sure(i was 12) i just kept putting it off and eventually did it after baptism..like 2 months later. i was like "um, ok jehovah, i dedicate my life you." lol.

marriage and family in the "new system"

my ex came back from the convention and the subject came up of familiy, marriage etc...i asked, how they believe marriage family etc will stand in "paradise"...do they believe earthly marriages will still be valid and mates will still be together, or is that annuled!!

!..also, whether families now will once again be families then..he didnt seem to be sure.. just out of interest, could anybody shed some light on the witness beliefs on this?.

what is the net effect of every year that our loving god jehovah, who is patient and desires "none to be destroyed", holds back the winds of destruction?

it ultimately results in roughly 80 million more humans to be added to the pile of post-armageddon bird food.

i've read this concept several times before on jwd but decided to do a little googling to get the 80 million number.

The Bible does not directly answer that question, and we are not the judges. However, the Bible does show that God views the young children of true Christians as "holy." (1 Cor. 7:14) It also reveals that in times past when God destroyed the wicked he likewise destroyed their little ones. (Num. 16:27, 32; Ezek. 9:6) God does not want anyone to be destroyed, so he is having a warning sounded now to benefit both parents and children. Would it not be wise for parents to pursue a course that would result in their children being looked on with favor by God both now and at Armageddon?

Earthquakes (again!)

it still annoys me that the wts have never withdrawn their quote about the increased frequency of earthquakes (and this quote was used by several speakers in the recent special talk , unaware that the wts has changed its position on this) , so i emailed the national geophysical data center in colorado and the national earthquake information center in golden, colorado to get their comments.. my email & replies:.

the watchtower society of pennsylvania (the corporate arm of jehovah's witnesses) have for over twenty years been using the following quote to support their belief that earthquakes have increased since 1914 in fulfillment of bible prophecy.

thanks for this. i always wondered how they tabulated that from absent and incomplete records. i showed this to my friend and she said she disagrees. apparently the WTS is a higher authority on earthquakes than the USGS. i'm sure if i showed her the watchtower article where they admitted it's been the same throughout the ages she'd readily adjust her view. gotta be careful with the aposta-chat though. don't wanna get reported.

first post, not sure if this is in the right section....anyway, last night's service meeting included a part about the upcoming district convention.

the usual take notes, make sure your teenagers sit with you, blah,blah, blah, was there but then they mentioned something new.

apparently now you have to wear your suit and lapel all weekend if you stay at a hotel.

thanks for the responses guys and gals. didn't realize there was another thread on this already. i didn't have a KM and i was doing the mics at the time so it was kind of a shock to hear them say "no jeans." i was looking around mouthing "what the f...?" but nobody seemed fazed 'cept for me. they were just basking in the 'new light.' i'm glad i found this forum and other so-called 'apostate' sites. really opened my eyes to those morons. i feel like wearing cut-offs and a tshirt to the actual convention now, just out of spite. lol.

hi everyone! first post, not sure if this is in the right section....anyway, last night's service meeting included a part about the upcoming district convention. the usual take notes, make sure your teenagers sit with you, blah,blah, blah, was there but then they mentioned something new. new to me at least. apparently now you have to wear your suit and lapel all weekend if you stay at a hotel. they said don't even pack jeans and tshirts. dress like you're going to the kingdom hall everywhere you go: restaurants, in the hotel (i wonder if that includes the pool). have they ever said this before? i don't remember ever hearing it but if you needed any further proof that is a cult, that was it.
