I know weddings are in the bible but I can't remember seeing anniversaries being celebrated mentioned in there.
So if its not mentioned in there and anniversaries are celebrated then the anniversary of your birth can be celebrated as well.
Makes sense to me.

Is it the JW's or the God of the bible you no longer believe?
by reniaa ini have a question for the ex-jw's on this forum after months of reading the forum..... many say how good it is to be free of the oppressiveness of the jw's that they can now enjoy the freedom to... have sex, celebrate christmas, gamble, embrace politics etc.
there are still biblical scriptures and principles in place that if you still followed the bible would mean you avoid these things and yet these are now embraced as one of the perks of no longer being a jw so in my confusion i ask.... if these are what you want, isn't it more correct to say you no longer follow the bible as apposed to just the jw's?.

You can not say celebrating Christmas is the same as
"smoking, shooting, running around the streets painted blue screaming "Come on you reds"
But what you are saying by your silence is that it's not in the bible saying we can't celebrate Christmas, so its up to each person how they want to celebrate something so wonderful as the birth of Jesus, without Jesus there would be no christianity.
Another thing I have said to my friend is that if Mr Russell came back today he would have to start a new religion as he would not know the JW's. When he died Christmas, birthdays, smoking, the cross and a host of other things were what he preached. -

I have never been a JW never going to be one but I have a friend who is one. The question I ask him but never get an answer for is
Show me in the bible where it says I CAN'T celebrate Christmas or Birthdays.
So maybe you can show me in the bible where it says these things. Not just a watchtower take on why they say you can't celebrate them. -

What will you do when the Great Tribulation Begins?
by Malkiel ini've always wanted to ask this question to those that have decided to leave the organization.. what will you do when the great tribulation begins?.
right now folks, a lot is happening in the political world.. gordon brown (prime miniter of england) last week gave a speech to the un stating that it is time for the un to step in and solve the world's problems, (specifically mentioning the economy and hunger crisis worldwide.).
barrack obama is shaping up to be the next president, a fellow who sure knows how to persuade and lead great crowds.

I am going to heaven. What it's going to be like when I get there I have no idea.
I believe your own personal world will come to an end when you die.
Maybe there will be a big A or maybe there wont.
I am not scared to die I have come close to death a few times in my short life so far.
You have to live every day as if its your last day, but plan to live forever. -

You said
"but it saddens me to know that others live in constant fear and horror thru no fault of their own. This is the wickedness and evil I'm looking foward to not hearing about or seeing on the news."
The only thing that wrong with what you are saying is yes you want to see an end to it, but if they are not JW's then they will be destroyed anyway. As that is what you all believe. So again it will just be you that is happy not the ones in fear or what ever. -

You Said
"I think you miss the point, TD, the point being that ANYONE, including myself, desiring to see the end shortly wants it that way because it is such a significant event. It is the beginning of the end for Satan once and for all, and so the end for all that is wicked"
Maybe I am lucky I have had a wonderful life I don’t see the amount of wicked my friend who is a JW's sees. Everything with him at the moment is doom and gloom. Why can't you just enjoy the life you have now live it to the full find good in everything you see and hear. Love others as you would want them to love you.
You can’t be very happy if you can't wait for the end of the world. How can you think it will be so wonderful to see people destroyed to then pick about the bones and make things new (the JW view)?
I like the bible view that there will be a new heaven and a new earth, all ready waiting for us. Also the bible tells us we will have everlasting life if we believe and trust in Jesus. So that must mean when I die I go to Jesus I don't lay in wait somewhere.
You was given one life now live that one life to the full, enjoy it see new places make new friends learn something new every day and it wont be a life wasted.
Put your trust in God not man.
So happy I was never a JW and have no family that are either. -

Question about the memorial
by Amyfa inas i am not a jw and never going to be one or study with one, can someone tell me what scripture they use to make everyone reject jesus.
it just feels to me like something satanic worshippers would do, not something christians would do.
it just seems so wrong to me

What about
Revelation 19: 1 After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: "Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,
Is this not telling us there are more than 144,000 in heaven. So then shouldn't all Christians partake?
The rejection just dont seem right to me. -

So is that logic you speak of just a watchtower logic, or is there a scripture that says only the 144,000 should partake.
Also why would it of taken so long to get the 144,000 people? They should all be long dead by now. -

In Britain last year it said there were 50,164 bible studies is that the number of people who are studying?
If it is why after a year only 3.383 of those got baptised?
Never being a JW I don’t know any facts. so sorry if it's a silly question.
