i'm doing my psychology assignment tonight and i had to do a report on these questions.. consider a person that you have strong negative feelings about:.
if you found out you were wrong, would you be willing to change the opinion you have held?.
would you be willing to make an effort to change the basic relationship?.
Empathy and liking someone to not have to go hand in hand
I agree with this, however, I believe compassion is diluted by disliking someone. So empathy would be more of an effort, more of a conscience decision.
i've received several messages from friends about posting an update here.
it is true there are people here who care for/ about me, and it doesn't take too much time out of my day to just post a litte update, so i figured i would.
i heard from a little birdy with a big nose that my name has been mentioned once or twice around here, and that prompted me to stick my nose in.
I wasn't around here much when you were. I did catch your wt comments....you were great. Nice to hear from you.

four weeks ago, my only child, my daughter, was asked to leave my home.
it was tough love.
she has spent the previous 3 years incarcerated.
I am also raising my grandchildren, age 3 and 4. Both girls, both precious. Long story, but I know how hard the acceptance is, and how VERY hard to let go of hoping in the mother to come through for you.
As for a calmer, more serene, moment in time....? I just asked my daughter (the mother) to leave after a two week trial here with the kids. She stole some money from me which left my bank account in the red and I don't get paid until the 1st. Yet, just knowing she will be gone has given me more internal peace than I have had in some time.
I understand.
what are your favorite jw guilt trips?
mine are: "you hurt my feelings when you say things like that" and "oh i pray to jehovah, that you will come back, what did we do wrong with you"
"...the end is so near"....(you poor little misguided pawn of SATAN!)
another musician i have really liked over the years !
has a crazy , catatonic electric guitar sound over the years that sounds like the guitar is moaning or screaming at times .
pretty creepy at times ; but very cool !
Hi, been gone awhile, thought this was a good place to jump back in.
world on a string
comes a time
rockin in the free world
human highway
just a few of many
i think posting on a discussion board can tend to come across in a certain way, personality wise.. i'm the type of person "in real life" that is usually considered quite funny.
i have a very quick wit and i can usually disable someone rather quickly with a facial expression, smile or definitive body language.
of course, you can't see those things here but you might notice a person's humor (or lack of it) by how they post.. so what tickles your funny bone?
So if this is going to be a debate over dry humor vs wet humor...let me just say I love them both.
Dry humor to me is (without any intention of defending my personal interpretation) directed at my cognitive senses. Then brings a deep smile or soft laugh. Wet humor hits your funny bone and makes you laugh whether you want to or not. If it makes you laugh or smile, you get the humor. If you don't it is probably not your humor (or you are not drunk enough or you are not in a humorous mood). IMHO both can be sarcasitc or ironic.
Now with that out of the way...
My favorite humor is found with close friends when the jokes aren't funny to anyone else.
I love political jokes.
I live with a 2 yr old and a 4 yr old an 81 yr old and an 83 yr old, so I have no shortage of humor in my life.
Like the time my 81 year old mother got in the car to go to the store (before I was ready). She got in the back seat (my dad is still alive so that is where she belongs), then I didn't come....didn't come....dad didn't come....didn't come....she tried the door....CHILD LOCKS...she couldn't get out. By the time I got there she had crawled in the front seat and was sideways, butt on the console, MADDER THAN HELL, SPITTING FIRE. (this woman is 4'11" and 200 lbs)
Why is that funny? For a million reasons, not all of them honorable, but that tickeled me and it always will.
when i joined this board around the the turn of the last century, it was rather small and comfy.
there were the usual cliques as there are everywere in life, and newbies like me were outsiders.
we were scrutinized and evaluated and judged for worthiness.
bttt back to the top
thanks
