So...why is taking blood essentially viewed as unforgivable by the WT?
by sd-7 inbeen hearing about this 'grey's anatomy' episode, and while i didn't see it, it brought up a question i wanted to throw out there, albeit a long-winded one, as is my usual nature.. the fact that people would rather die than take blood, as if...if they take it, they're doomed for sure to not make the new system--it doesn't make sense to me.
people both in the organization and the bible stories are forgiven for heinous crimes, murder, adultery, child sacrifice, everything up to and including denying jesus altogether.
(let's not forget child molestation and rape, apparently...) so why does it seem like this one act is presented to jws as one that's never to be forgiven?.

Black kids - males, especially - are soooo adept at putting each other down.
My g'daughter is well ahead of the curve, academically speaking, but I have to stay on her rear end.
Even now, I can see her backsliding, and I shudder to think of high school.

Education definitely begins at home.
A child's curiosity is a wonder to behold.
I just wish ALL parents would take the time to nurture and encourage their children.
It doesn't take much effort to do that, and in the long run, it really pays huge dividends.
My granddaughter recently graduated from middle school.
I attended the ceremony and was heartened to see so many young men take top honors in math and science.
My only hope is that the challenges they face in high school will not rob them of their potential.

Quendi, I share your pain and sorrow.
We have lost an entire generation to the prevailing mindset that it's not cool to be smart.
My youngest grandson is a casualty of such thinking; he was picked on and derided to the point that his mother is going to homeschool him.
It is so heartbreaking, but what can a grandmother do?

by snowbird inwas first organized in new york during the late 18th century.. prominent members included sojourner truth, harriet tubman, and frederick douglass.. many black churches followed suit and added zion to their names.. i know of a greater zion tabernacle, little zion missionary baptist church, and big zion ame church.. charles russell decided to drop zion from his magazine title because many people were associating his publication with a "colored" church.
his explanation as follows is from the december 15, 1908 wt.. .
with the new year we expect to drop the word "zion's" in the title of our journal, because many of the friends inform us that the word is objectionable, having been so much used by mr. dowie and his followers.

I've heard of Carol's Daughter - my non-JW daughter swears her products are the best.
Here is a true story: A Vietnamese man opened an eatery here that sells really good food. I mean ol' boy can throw down!
I asked him where he learned to cook like that. He said he learned from a Black lady who lived next door to him.

i'm 20 and have been studying since i was 14 (not a publisher) but i honestly didnt really look into the witnesses or analyze what they said.
all i wanted was to learn more of the bible lol, but recent events have made me notice how pushy they can be.
