Yeah, we need names and accurate locations to believe that one.

Circuit Overseer wakes up, packs his bags and leaves!
by Anony Mous ini just heard this about a co i knew back in the day before he was even a co. he must be in his mid-late 40's now, my mother told me the story as she knows the family very well (the entire family has gone 'apostate' including several elders, circuit overseers and missionaries - this was an "example" family, always on the stage etc).. he wasn't 'feeling well' so he took time off from his co duties.
that week he packed his suitcase, told his wife he can't do it anymore and he's leaving, leaves her the car and the house and went to live in a small apartment, bought a small car and a week later got a decent job.. this was very recent so not everybody within the org has heard yet what happened..

This is a very good idea. I know of a pioneer, elder-wife, who killed herself. One of the saddest thing there is to hear really. It’s a shame I still stuck remaining anonymous.

I just got to play householder!
by Laika ini was a little nervous and a bit dazed, i think i will do better next time.
he offered me the memorial invite, i told him i had jw family who would invite me and he got interested and wanted to find out more, so i told him i wasn't interested in the jw religion, he asked why and i said i find it too controlling.
he thought i was talking about moral rules so started on about how jehovah doesn't want to restrict us 'blah blah', so i pointed out that i meant they're not allowed to read certain materials which is wrong if it's as true as they are confident of.. he then went on about how satan uses false teaching to manipulate us and so we have to be careful of what we read.

I used the example of a Catholic,[..] not sufficiently challenging his beliefs, as you need to get different viewpoints to make a proper perspective.
That is the type of thing that will eat at him slowly. Even if he seemed head strong and not troubled by your words, believe me, these words will make their way to his heart one day ... that is of course, Asuming he has one!
When I was a kid, I was out, alone, pioneering in August and knocked on the door of a man who changed my view of preaching. I started my presentation as always:
Me: Hello sir. My name is ....... and I am out discussing with my neighbor about...
Him (Cutting me off): What? Did you just say discuss? Realy? Discuss? You're not here to discuss, your here to preach to me. And by definition, in your mind, we are not on the same level, you think you need to share something you know that I don't and its so important to you that your here on this sunny day, at my door, rather then being out and about playing with your friends.
I don't remember the rest of the conversation, but I do remember that on that day, I started to really listen to what people had to say. It changed me.
My point is that it is possible for a house holder to say things that will change the lives of the JWs.

Thanks WTBS for changing the Kingdom Songs, you freed me!
by StephaneLaliberte inyesterday, i saw a picture of a family signing kingdom melodies together.
it made me realize a fact that i am somewhat ashamed to admit:.
for over a decade, i have been aware of the false prophecies, the deceptive statements, the lack of scriptural support for many core practices and other issues with the witnesses.

TD, I could not have expected a better answer! Sounds to me like this one was even older then the one I grew up with. I know that for the one that I grew up with, it had a lot of songs that had not been modifed and that they added more songs in the song book.
This time around however, they changed everything.

Strange... I can't recal of a pink one...
I do remember a brownish one though. The 1984 release stroke my imagination when I was young because of the picture of the priest on the inner back cover that was visibly signing very loudly - it made me laught.

TD: Ds is for real.
The previous song book (1984) had even more references to the faithful slave!
Song 51: Your slave, so faithful and discreet,
Song 114: Us he gave the faithful slave, Him a grand commission gave,
Song 118: His steward, so faithful, serves him so well, And as a result, there peace does now dwell.
Song 156: When he sent the faithful, wise slave,
Song 203: His faithful steward keeps us well-informed, And by such loving care and guidance, our hearts are warmed.
Song 223 : This faithful servant class, Now the other sheep do feed -

Wow, this is big! One less "appeal" place to go for the R&F. What I’m saying is: If you’re not happy about your elders, you can complain to your CO. If you’re not happy about you’re CO, you could complain DIRECTLY to you DO at an assembly. Agreed, it was not that easy, but still possible. Now, without the DO, try, just try to complain about CO. Without the support of an elder, it won’t happen.

WTWizard: I doubt that the ones in charge desired to cause harm to all those (and mostly everyone), who had emotional connections to the old songs. However, that’s what happened. The culprits: Human weakness and the environment of unconditional submission fostered by the Watchtower.
Most people agree that the changes brought to the kingdom songs (aside for some new songs), were not improvements. This can only mean that the people who directed these changes were part of the few who thought otherwise, yet, were surrounded by people who obviously did not tell them their real opinions and feelings.
There is nothing worst for a boss then to be surrounded by YES men. Unfortunately, the WTBS continually prints that faithful Christians humbly accept the authority without questioning it. This results in actions that don’t take into account the impact these will have on the individuals. The KMs change is one of their best examples.
As bad as they were, those old songs still bring back memories of relatives who are now long gone
TD: I am totally with you on that one. One of my immediate family members has passed away. Back then, I would sing a song with her (No. 4 about the resurrection) and we would know it by heart. Then, these imbeciles decided to change the lyrics and even part of the musical arrangement! When I noticed this at the KH, I felt like they were attempting to kill a memory of my loved one. That’s all I have left now, memories, and they were trying to take it away! I felt utterly broken that day.

Yesterday, I saw a picture of a family signing kingdom melodies together. It made me realize a fact that I am somewhat ashamed to admit:
For over a decade, I have been aware of the false prophecies, the deceptive statements, the lack of scriptural support for many core practices and other issues with the Witnesses. Yet, I would find various excuses for all of these.
As I was raised in the truth, I had associated some of my best family memories to various theocratic activities. As a result, some kingdom songs could bring back nostalgic memories of my family happily going on a road trip, or being united in worship at an assembly, etc. I even recall deliberately not signing at some meetings so as to hear everyone else and bath myself in nostalgia. Sometimes, I would even cry over it.
Thanks to the WTBS though, this all came to an abrupt end when some of my favorite kingdom songs were changed. There are some songs in there that, to me, were classic. Would it make sense to change the lyrics and melody of a classic like the Beetles’ “Yesterday”?
I felt violated and angry that they would change things so much without asking anyone about it. And it was then, and only then that I stopped finding stupid excuses for every bad things they were doing.
So there you have it: It was not the heroic power of my willful mind that brought me out, but the simple severing of a strong emotional tie lead by the change in the kingdom melodies. - I'm a week week man.

A friend gets his last check from a JW company.....
by problemaddict inso basically he is a subcontractor for a company that owes him money, and has been paying him very poorly for his service.
(industry wide problem).
so he e mails them a venting e mail, saying he will no longer take work, giving them a date he expects the pay to be cut or he leins properties etc.... he gets a response, they go back and forth, and the last response they send the check and at the bottom post a scripture (he didn't remember which one) with the phrase "and we will continue to serve our god jehovah".

In my own experience, my success rate in dealing with witnesses has largely been the same with that of non-witnesses. - I've had people fraudulently take money from me and some others gave me better deals then I would ever had expected.
The core difference however is what you can do about it when you get a raw deal: In the world, you have courts and in the congregation, you get elders.
My personal experience so far has shown me that people are much more afraid of the worldly courts then the brothers. One main reason is that I have seen the following quote be overly used:
(1 Corinthians 6:7, 8) 7 […] Why not rather let yourselves be wronged? Why do you not rather let yourselves be defrauded?
It’s like a free ticket to saying: Yes, you’re a victim! But we don’t have the balls to call out the bad witnesses so we ask you to keep being a victim, but for the glory of Jehovah’s Organization!
