Thank You All
by R.F. ini realised that the end of the year is upon us, and now that i think back, it sure has been one hell of a year.. i have never been through so many changes within this short a time span ever in life.
between the death of my formerly held jw beliefs, the death of a very close family member, the death of an engagement, and the extremely high life-threatening surgery which almost caused the death of my mother (because of the blood issue by the way), things were very rocky, and of course i was hit pretty hard by those things.. i wanted to thank all of you for the support you've given me throughout these 7 short months.
alot of times, it is a great source of help just to sign in, not post, and just read some of your experiences.

I've also made many new friends here that I know i'll be friends with for a very long time, as well as finding some older ones, such as Purps, who i'm sure I wouldn't have found out about her feelings about the religion if it wasn't for this site.
Thank you all again, and even though it can get a bit crazy in here at times, I still love you guys.

Chaperones?
by CHILD inhow many of you courted as jws?
did you have chaperones?
if so, do you adhere to that rule all of the time?
-
R.F.
I did court as a JW and used chaperones.........most of the time.
There were many times I would pick my ex up on my way to the KH alone so we could go in field service, since she had no driver's license. Most of the elders didn't care about this, but there was one that yanked me into the backroom one day to tell me how dangerous it was for me to do such a thing. Sometimes, we went to stores alone, but that was when it had gotten to the point where I just didn't care about getting caught anymore
We pretty much used anyone as a chaperone just to say we weren't alone. We even used children, more than one though.
In short, it was hell. There was always this tension while courting to watch your back at all times to make sure you don't "stumble" anyone. I'm SO glad to be out of that now.

Bible Study Arrangement at Hall
by KW13 inremember how the bible study was conducted at the hall?
they had bible highlights then focused on a particular chapter.
was this done in such a way so as to take attention away from scriptures that could bring up red-flags in the minds of jw's, letting the dodgy bits be skipped over?.
-
R.F.
It's interesting how the "Bible Highlights" is all about the WT spin on the Scriptures. The brothers giving the parts were often hounded to to make sure they handled them this way.
When I walked away fromt he org I listened to different commentaries online of the Bible and found they are far superior in comparison to the WTS method.

Of The 5 Meetings, Was There One You Hated More Than The Others?
by minimus inusually, i enjoyed the public talk, if the speaker was good but i thought the theocratic ministry was boring!!!.
the service meeting was just a sales meeting.
the book studies were simply ridiculous.
-
R.F.
The
SalesService Meeting was the one I couldn't wait to leave from. There were always two elders that always went overtime, and that was rough when I used to work nights.I would always purposely keep my talks very short so that we could maybe get a out a few minutes early. There was always that one elder that made sure he took up that extra time.
