I guess this can be considered active...
...my 93 year old great-grandmother gets out and travels way more than I do. I thought that was kinda backwards lol. I'm glad she's enjoying her life no matter what her age is though.
hi fellow jwders:.

did anyone resist getting baptized?
starting at the age of 12 my parents were pressuring me to get dunked, it started when i came home from school one day and there was a young dub waiting to study with me, he tried for a few months till it became obvious he was more interested in my sister than getting me in that pool.
another attempt was made when i was in the 8th grade, i was walking home from school and a pick up truck pulled over right in front of me and there was another young jehovie, he told me to get in the car, i told him no, and he said that if i didnt get in i would be in big trouble with my parents, reluctantly i got in, he proceeded to take me around town to a few of my friends(worldly) homes and started telling me that these people were all going to die, and that if i wanted to die with them.
Interesting experience Andre.
The idea of pressuring one to get baptized is something i've never understood. If a person just doesn't have faith that the religion is true then how could baptism save them?
Fortunately I was never forced to get baptized. In fact, it seemed almost as if dad tried to talk me out of it when we were on our way to the assembly that morning.
within the past week i have met two others in my area who are closet apostates, like me.
one still attends and one does not.
but it is noce to know that they are there and we can have conversations about it.
Yeah, sure is great. Good thing you found them.
I was glad when I found out that a jwd poster was actually from my congregation. There's another one that I wonder about too, he was an elder a few years ago but vanished off the face of JWdom. He used to say in his talks that he didn't believe what he was saying but that's what he's told to do. LOL!!
so, the people in my congo expended hours and hours distributing the invitations, but the attendance was the same as always (actually a little less than other years).
how about your congo?
-ootn
I didn't attend, but according to the numbers that i've found out about it seems the attendance dropped by 15 or so this year in the local congro. So I doubt that the invitations helped them out at all.
ok everyone, who has to go to the memorial tonight?
check in here, state the reason you have to go, and when you get back, let us know how it went and your impressions.
for me, i have to go for my family--since i'm doing the fade i figure it won't kill me to go.
I stayed home and played Xbox instead. LOL
I was surprised that my sister tried to talk me into attending. She's not a JW, and never goes to meetings now. She said that she should at least try to attend this one. I asked what was the difference between this one and the other meetings, she said she didn't know.
My parents didn't even pressure me to go as much as I thought they would. Dad didn't even attend, he worked instead. This is the first Memorial i've missed in my entire life.
i received one a couple of weekends ago while i was out of town.
some local jws left it here in the door jammed in between a couple of wt mags(mags that i still receive).
little did i know that there was a campaign for it's distribution.

This will be the first Memorial that I miss since birth.
check it out!.
watchtower comments exposes the memorial.
..."taking a sip anyway....priceless." LOL!!!
Loved it. Great video!
i'm talking about congos with at least 40-50 publishers in the file.
we had a nearby congo that supposedly had 60-65 publishers and their attendance on one tms/sm night hit an all-time low of 14. they had a ton of elderly/infirm.
they finally merged and now everybody's happy about the "increase".
I didn't see it personally but I know some from a nearby congregation that said their Public Talk and WT study had an attendance of 14 once, and that included the visiting speaker and his wife. It had 40 publishers at the time.
were you considered by others as "the cream of the crop"?
.
did you view yourself as a pillar in the congregation or were you "spiritually weak"?.
I was viewed as real asset to the congregation. It had become rare in this area to see young males pioneering, along with being an MS, so I was considered to be an example for other young ones.
Now i'm considered a "wounded sheep".
ok heres the scenario.. mom is still a jw.
her best friend and also neighbour (jw-elders wife) has a daughter who is "courting" (unofficially) someone who has just come back into the "truth", he has gone through his usual judicial process and repented from his wicked ways and has been publicly reproved.. now what puzzles me about this?.
he is on restrictions as he is not classed as being in "good standing" within the congregation.
There is no basis for it.
I don't remember Jesus putting any of his followers on restrictions. I would've thought Peter would've been the perfect one to make an example out of since he denied knowing Christ. He actually ended up receiving great privileges.
Those JWs sure know how to be imitators of Jesus don't they??
