Watchtower Dates
The Watchtower Society (WTS) - the leadership of the Jehovah's Witnesses (JW) - is famous for their dates. Individual Witnesses know about the current prophetic years (1914, 1918, etc) but are mostly completely ignorant about the history of their movement, and when asked is most likely to deny that the WTS ever said anything about the end of the world in 1914 and 1925. Even for a recent episode like 1975, the JWs will often flatly deny that the WTS ever proclaimed Armageddon within no more than a few months from October 1975.
This list is intended to be comprehensive, if not exhaustive. There's a massive amount of research by many individuals behind this short summary, but we can never guarantee against errors. If you find any, please let us know.
As time goes, full quotations and even scanned pages of WTS literature documenting this will be included.
Dates
1798
End of 1260 days of Rev 12. Start of "the last days". Three Worlds (1877), p114. (see Key to publication codes)
Replaced by 1799 no later than 1889, with SiS2. [Note 1]
1799
Start of "the last days". Napoleon debased the pope and ended the 1260 days of Dan 7:25; 12:7; Rev 11:1-3. WT Jan-Feb 1889 [repr p1093]. SiS2 p256. SiS3 p58,63,64
Replaced by 1914 in 1930 [Note 2]
1829
End of the 1290 years (from 539AD) of Daniel 12:11, when Miller's movement started. SiS3 p84, SiS7 p40, 60, 163. Our Lord's Return (1929) p27.
Abandoned in 1930
1844
Miller's "end of the world." To Russell, start of 30 year "tarrying time," corresponding to 30 years from Jesus' birth to his baptism. SiS2 p240
Abandoned in 1930
1846
End of the 2300 days, G. Storrs and others abandoned false doctrines, "sanctuary cleansed". Also start of "evangelical alliance" between protestant churches, called "spiritistic". SiS3 p108, SiS7 p163.
Abandoned in 1930
1873
6000 years of human existance ends, start of seventh millenium: THE millenium of Revelation; the Day of the Lord. See SiS2 foreword, p39. (New chronology making 1975 the end of 6000 years was adopted in 1943, but 1975 was not made an official prophetic date until 1966, with Life Everlasting.)
Abandoned in 1930
1874
The start of Christ's invisible presence. Russell's most important date. Three Worlds p175, SiS2 p170, Our Lord's Return p27, Proclaimers p133 footnote. Until around 1904, Russell taught that this year marked the start of the Battle of Armageddon, WT 1/15/92 p21-3 [repr p1355]. SiS2, p101.
Abandoned in 1930; [Note 2] WTS itself claims it was abandoned in 1943
1875
End of "Great Jubilee Cycle." End of 1335 days in Dan 12:12. The invisible resurrection of the saints started. (Note also that Russell held that the "Biblical year" 1875 started Oct 1874.) Three Worlds p108.
Idea of invisible resurrection in 1875 replaced by 1878 in 1881?
1878
End of gospel age, the rapture of the saints. Three Worlds p68; Proclaimers p632; Divine Purpose p19.
Naturally abandoned after 1878
1878
Heavenly resurrection of dead saints. God's favor returning to the Jews. Kingdom of God started to exercise power. WT Oct 1879 [repr p39]. SiS2 p101. SiS6, p663. Millions (1920) p27-8.
Abandoned in 1930
1881
Rapture of the saints, including Russell and other Bible Students. WT Jan 1881 [repr p180], Dec 1880 [repr p172], compare May 1881 [repr p224].
Abandoned and even denied from May 1881
1881
Close of "high calling" to be among 144.000. Fall of Babylon. Proclaimers p632.
Replaced by 1918 in 1922?. Close of "high calling" later moved to 1935
1910
Expected rapture of the Saints, based on measurments in corridor in the Great Pyramid of Gizeh. SiS3, p364, versions issued before 1910.
Naturally abandoned after 1910
1914
The end of this world, Christ's literal return, the end of Armageddon and latest possible date for rapture. Jews expected to return to God's favour.
"Present truth" until the end of 1914, but replaced by 1915 from around 1912 to Aug 1914 (start of WWI, which was felt to somehow fulfill the above prophecies about 1914).
1914
Christ's invisible return, start of reign as King, end of last days. "Gentile times" ended, but this has no visible effect, except an (JW-imagined) increase in violence, wars, pestilence, earthquakes and other calamities since that year.
Current JW doctrine. From 1922 this was held to be start of Christ's *reign*, from 1930 also the start of invisible presence (earlier held to be 1874). [Note 2] Until recently, the WTS taught that some of those who experienced the events in 1914 would be alive to see the end of the world. This "1914 generation" doctrine was removed in November 1995. See WT 11/1 1995 p17. The "Creator's promise" about the end of the world before the 1914-generation died was removed from masthead (p4) of Awake! in 11/8 1995 issue. Whole idea of "generation" in Mt 24:34 being specific individuals is now abandoned.
1915
The end of the world. From ~1912 until start of WWI this year replaced 1914 in Russell's writings, since 2520 years from 606BC ends in 1915 not 1914 as Russell had thought. The fact that there is no zero year was "forgotten" when some events happened in 1914. In 1943 the idea that had been promoted in SiS7, namely to move Jerusalem's destruction from 606 to 607BC, was officially adopted (The fact that Jerusalem according to Bible chronology fell in 587BC does not interfere with Watchtower chronology.)
Year abandoned after start if WWI
1918
False religion, especially Christendom, to be destroyed. Demons would enter the minds of clergy, the "swine class", causing them to do stupid things that provokes "the masses" to destroy them. "Church members by millions" thus killed by God. SiS7 p128, 485.
Naturally abandoned after 1918
1918
Fall of Babylon, close of call to be among 144.000. This year is still held by JWs to be date for fall of Babylon, "all false religion." See Revelation Climax p260 which says "So by 1919 Babylon the Great had fallen".
Current JW doctrine. Close of "high calling" was later moved to 1935.
1919
The Bible Student/Watchtower movement chosen by Christ to be only "channel" of communication from God to men.
Current JW doctrine.
1920
Worldwide anarchy, collapse and fall of all earthly governments. SiS7 p258.
Naturally abandoned after 1920
1925
The end of the world immediately following the resurrection of "men of old" (Biblical heroes listed in Hebrews chapter 11). Establishment of Kingdom in Palestine. SiS7 p128, Millions p88,97. Very definite statements in WT 6/15 1922; 4/1 1923, elsewhere.
Naturally abandoned after 1925, even though the date itself was held to be somehow fixed in the Scriptures even as late as in 1931 (Vindication I p338).
1935
Close of "high calling" to be of the 144.000. From this date, JWs have taught that the "great Company/Crowd" in Rev 7 will live on Earth, not in heaven. The "Great Crowd", all JWs except ~8000 living now, is not considered anointed Christians, is not "born again," do not partake in communion and does not have Christ as mediator. They expect eternal life on Earth. See WT 6/15 1992 p23; Proclaimers (1993) p166. This date is justified only on the fact that the doctrine about earthly hope for "great crowd" was created in 1935.
Current JW doctrine
~1941
WW2 was expected to end in Armageddon, God's War. WT 9/15 1941 p288 talked about the "remaining months before Armageddon."
Idea abandoned in 1943, after death of Rutherford, when the Watchtower Society started to proclaim a "very short" period of peace after WWII.
1951
This was 37 years after 1914, like Jerusalem was destroyed in 70AD, which was 37 years after Christ's death (WTS chronology). Some WT articles in 1950 hinted strongly to this parallell. WT 11/1 1950 p407; 9/1 1950 p277; compare WT 3/15 1951 p179 and 4/1 1951 p214 both pointing out that "we are 37 years into the 'time of the end' of this world."
Idea was abandoned in WT 9/1 1952 p542
1954
Theoretical length of 1914-generation after the old "30-40 years" definition. See WT 9/1 1952 p542. "Generation" idea based on Matt 24:34, but it was finally abandoned in WT Nov 1, 1995.
Replaced by 70-80 year generation in 1952
1975
End of 6000 year of human history after WTS chronology. Strongly hinted to be end of the world; could only be a matter of "days and months, not years" before Armageddon. Life Everlasting p26-30; WT 7/15 1967 p446-7; 8/15 1968 p499; 5/1 1975 p 285. See also YB 1980 p30-31.
Abandoned and sometimes even denied after 1975
1984
Object for much speculation about maximum length of generation, based on 70 years from 1914 and Psalm 90:10. See WT 9/1 1952 p542; WT 12/1 1968 p715.
Abandoned silently as date approached.
1986
Declared by United Nations to be "International Year of Peace," which caused much expectations with JWs about the expected declaration of "peace and security", a sign of the imminent end based on a special interpretation of 1Th 5:3. WT 10/1 1985 p18.
Silently forgotten after 1986
1994
Object for much speculation about maximum length of generation, like 1984. See WT 9/1 1952 p542; WT 12/1 1968 p715.
Abandoned silently as date approached.
2000
End of world expected to come before end of century. WT 1/1 1989 p12 (work to be completed "in our 20th century", text changed in bound volume); WT 10/15 1980 p31 ("highly improbable" that this world continues to 2000); 3/1 1984 p18-19 ("end much closer than [2000]).
Notes:
Note 1: References to this beginning of the "last days" in 1798/9 is found to be remarkably absent in many of Russell's writings. In fact, 1798 was a part of in Barbour's chronology, with the (alleged) start of papal rule in 538AD as a basis year, but Russell replaced it with 1799 (539AD basis) in the beginning of 1889. The 1799 date was emphasised as late as in Our Lord's Return, a Rutherford booklet from 1929, but evidently abandoned with almost all of the old chronology in 1930, with Light I. See Note 2.
Note 2: Sometime between the booklet Our Lord's Return in 1929 and Vindication I in 1931 Rutherford rejected almost all of Russell's old chronology and many other central doctrines. The book Light I (1930) emphasised the time from 1879 to 1918 as a time of preparation, and 1918 as the coming of the Lord to his temple. 1914 is stated to be the year God put Christ on his throne. 1874 is understood to be wrong. The first explicit statement about Christ's "parousia" from 1914 seems to be in the 1932 booklet What is Truth? which says "The prophecy of the Bible, fully supported by the physical facts in fulfilment thereof, shows that the second coming of Christ dates from the fall of the year 1914." For some strange reason, the WTS book God's Kingdom (1973), p207-9, claimed this change from 1874 to 1914 came in 1943, when the WTS completed a new chronological system, which included moving Jerusalem's destruction from 606BC to 607BCE to keep the 1914 date while finally accounting for the non-existing "zero year." See also Proclaimers p133.
Note 3: Some Watchtower dates are NOT included in this listing, notably those who were derived from earlier chronology but were abandoned long before that year approached. One example: SiS7 p61, 62 says "The actual depopulation of the whole of Palestine did not occur until the year 135 A. D. (corresponding to our year 1980), . . . It is possible that A. D. 1980 may have something of special interest for Fleshly Israel, but certainly not for us. It is 70 years beyond 1910, the date when Pastor Russell gave his great witness to the Jewish people in the New York Hippodrome."

Hundreds of Failed Predictons
by writetoknow infailed predictions:sometime in 2000: many christian individuals and groups have long anticipated that christ's return would happen in 2000 ce.
many of them believe that this event would be preceded by a 7 year period called "the tribulation.
" they expected that this interval would start in 1993 and that 42 months into the tribulation, terrible things would occur.

More Predictions
A Chronicle of Predictions by Robert Gates...12/3/98
1998-DEC-12 : A survivalist from Arkansas spammed a warning to some mailing lists. He predicted that in the early morning hours, a massive nuclear war will begin in the US Food will be wiped out; water will be contaminated; 75 million will die immediately; even more will die later. He recommends to "Get strong in your spiritual life, get out of large cities and away from military sites and mil itary storage facilities and get prepared to survive."
Sometime in 1999: Edgar Cayce predicted that Armageddon would arrive, the earth's axis would shift and both England and Japan would sink in to the ocean. New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco will be destroyed by earthquakes and floods. The island of Atlantis will rise from the ocean floor. However, this may not happen until 2001 or 2002.
1999-JAN: According to the 1997-JUN-24 issue of Sun Magazine Pope John XXIII predicted in 1962 that visitors from outer space will arrive in chariots of flaming steel and will share their advanced knowledge with humanity. Our life span will be increased to 150 years or longer. Most diseases will be wiped out.
1999-JAN-20: Between JAN-20 and FEB-4, an asteroid measuring 20 miles in diameter and traveling about 20,000 miles/hour will hit earth. At that speed and probable mass, it would massively disrupt all life processes on earth. Dr. Morris Plammer says that a photo was leaked to him by "highly placed friends" within NASA. The photo allegedly contains markings in the shape of a Satanic face. Other equally reliable articles claim that Adolf Hitler is alive and living in Santiago, Chile, and that the captain of the Titanic was a woman.
1999-JUL: Nostradamus predicted that a great king of terror will come from the skies. This has been interpreted by some as referring to a nuclear missile strike.
1999-AUG-6: According to the latest interpretation of Biblical prophecy by some followers of the Branch Davidian sect, 5 months of major torment will begin as the sixth seal is fulfilled.
1999-AUG-11: According to the 1997-MAY-27 issue of Sun Magazine, the Anti- Christ is alive today and living in the Middle East. On AUG-11, the time of an eclipse of the sun, he will make himself known to the world. "It will be the ultimate war." Many will perish, and their souls will travel to Heaven or Hell, depending upon which side that they supported during the conflict.
1999-AUG-24: Valerie James wrote in The European Magazine in 1996 that "The configuration of planets which predicted the coming of Christ will once again appear on Aug 24, 1999." We assume that she is predicting that Jesus' second coming will happen shortly after that date.
1999-DEC-19: Sun Magazine listed a prediction of "Bible expert" Dotson Meade. He predicts that "something will happen that brings about the war which will end the world as we know it... There will be a vicious cycle of storms and earthquakes that lead to the final battle the world has awaited." This date was derived from information in the Dead Sea Scrolls.
1999-DEC-31 - 01-JAN-2000: In a new video released in Nov of 1997 and sold approx 1900 copes the Rev Jerry Falwell predicts that the Y2K computer problem is Gods method of causing a great religious renewal which directly leads to the rapture and the 2nd coming.
2000: The Virgin Mary is said to have communicated to Father Gobbi of the Marian Movement of Priests: "I confirm to you that, by the Great Jubilee Year 2000, there will take place the Triumph of my Immaculate Heart, of which I foretold you at Fatima, and this will come to pass with the return of Jesus in glory, to establish His Reign in the world." 21
2000: Michael Drosnin, author of "The Bible Code," found a hidden message in the Pentateuch (the first five books in the Bible) that predicts that World War III, involving a worldwide atomic [sic] holocaust, will start in 2000 (or perhaps 2006).
2000: Hal Lindsey currently does not make specific predictions about the end of the world. In his book The Late Great Planet Earth he did predict the battle of Armageddon in 2000 CE and the second coming of Christ in 2007 CE. He also cited 2048 as an alternate date.
About 2000: Jack van Impe predicts that tumultuous events will happen about this time. The antichrist will appear, and cause a 7 year period of worldwide distress called the Tribulation. This will be followed by the Battle of Armageddon and the second coming.
000-JAN-1: According to the 1997-JUN-24 issue of Sun Magazine Pope John XXIII predicted in 1961 that Doomsday will begin with the detonation of an atomic bomb in a major European city by a Libyan terrorist group. This will trigger a massive six-month war that will cause the deaths of millions of people.
2000-JAN-1: William Cooper, head of a militia group in St. John's AZ, predicted that on this date the secret chambers of the Pyramid at Giza will be opened. Its secrets will be revealed and Satan will become a public figure. The American militia will engage in a massive war at this time. This, and the previous prediction, are the only two that we have been able to find which agree on the same day. Of course, it is an obvious date to select, because most people believe that the next millennium begins then. It doesn't; it starts one year later on 2001-JAN-1.
2000-JAN-11: According to Weekly World News of 1997-NOV-18, the CIA has caught a space alien who had crash-landed on JUN-20 in a New Mexico desert. He is from a species that is considerably more developed, both mentally and spiritually, than mankind. He is only survivor of the destruction of his world - a planet some 200 light years from Earth. He reports that God is "furious with His creations everywhere." Apparently none of the species that he created turned out at all well. So, god is systematically working his way across the galaxies, setting fires to the planets and exploding them one by one. Earth will be next!
2000-MAY-5: R.W. No one has written a book "5/5/2000 - Ice, the Ultimate Disaster," in which he predicts that the first alignment of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn in 6,000 years will cause total devastation. Ice buildup at the south pole will upset the world's axis, sending trillions of tons of ice and water sweeping over the planet. The cover illustration shows an Egyptian pyramid surrounded by ice and lightning.
2000-SEP-21: Dan Millar, mentioned above, estimates this date as that of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Four events happen on that day, a Thursday. The sidereal day is reset. It is also the Jewish New Year, using the Canaanite calendar that was in use within ancient Israel prior to the Babylonian Captivity. It is the time of the Jewish "Feast of Jubilees" according to a message given by the Virgin Mary to Father Stefan Gobbi. This feast occurs only once every fifty years. This date is also the Autumn Equinox.
2000-MAY-31: The Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in front of Taurus and the coming back of the Star of Bethlehem like 7.B.C. Some people expect a supernatural event comparable to the birth of Jesus.
2000-DEC-25: According to the 1997-JUN-24 issue of Sun Magazine Pope John XXIII predicted in 1962 that Christ would appear in the sky over New York City. He will announce the creation of a 1000-year paradise, to be proceeded by six months of great sorrow.
2001: The Unarius Society has received interstellar thought messages from a Pleiadean starship. They will land in the year 2001 on Atlantis, which will have risen from the depths of the earth in the Bermuda Triangle. Earth will join an alignment of 33 planets to form "Interplanetary Confederation for the Spiritual Renaissance of Humankind on Earth!"
2001-JAN-31: Sun Magazine reported in its 1997-OCT-14 issue that Noah's Ark has been discovered intact in undamaged form on a slope near Mount Ararat in Turkey. Inside were a group of 6 copper-gold-silver scrolls, each 12" square. Scroll 2 reveals that the sun will superheat the earth, melting both polar ice caps, and creating a worldwide flood. Scroll 3 reveals that Doomsday is set for 2001-JAN-31. Good people who repent of their sins will be saved; cruel tyrants will be cast into the burning fires of Hell.
2001 Jack Van Impe Ministries sponsors the largest Evangelical Christian program devoted to end-time prophecy. In his home page, he discusses his book "On the Edge of Eternity" in which he predicts that the year 2001 will "usher in international chaos such as we've never seen in our history." He predicts that in 2001, and the years following, the world will experience "drought, war, malaria, and hunger afflicting entire populations throughout the [African] continent...By the year 2001, there will be global chaos." Islam will become much larger than Christianity. (That would take a sudden growth spurt; Islam is currently followed by 19% of the world's population vs. 33% for Christianity). A one-world church will emerge; it will be "controlled by demonic hosts." Temple rituals (presumably including ritual animal sacrifice) will resume in Israel.
Circa 2001: Charles Spiegel, a retired psychology professor, preaches from a small town near San Diego CA that the ancient land of Atlantis will emerge from the Caribbean circa 2001 CE. Shortly thereafter, 1000 extra-terrestrials from "Myton" in 33 spaceships will land there and bring new knowledge to humanity.
2003: Sree Vishiva Karma Veera Narayana Murthy, an avatar of Krishna will arrive to establish a 108 year reign of dharma (righteousness). This will be preceded by four years of: a rain of blood in towns and villages, circulation of poor quality coins, the appearance of male goats and oxen with mammary glands that can be milked, and many incurable diseases will be present.
2003-Late spring/early summer: Space aliens called Zetas are communicating through their earthly contact, Nancy. They describe how a comet visits earth every 3657 years. During this pass, the earth will pass through its tail. This will stop the earth's rotation for a few days. There will be "gigantic Lightning Bolts occur in the upper atmosphere, Violent Winds occur, and petrochemicals formed in the skies rain down in Firestorms; then, as the core of the Earth attempts to align magnetically with the giant comet, there is a Pole Shift with Continental Rip and Sinking and Rising land; how gigantic Tidal Waves assault the coasts, though Water Movement began when rotation stopped, and an Ocean Vortex can form; how plate shifts can result in a Sinking Atlantic floor, affecting the surrounding shorelines; but how the Other Planets will be little affected." The earth will start rotating again, but with new poles, equator, geography and climate. The ice caps will melt and the ocean will put shorelines under water. Sounds like a wild ride. (18)
Late 2004: Arnie Stanton noted on 1997-SEP-16 that that evening was the fourth Jewish festival since 1996-APR-3 on which a lunar eclipse occurred. (7) He quotes Luke 21:25-26 which mentions "signs in the sun, in the moon and in the stars and on the earth distress of nations" He believes that "these recent lunar eclipses are the last known astronomical signs that will precede a 7 year (360 day/year) countdown to Armageddon/Christ's return to the Earth." He expects that Christ's return will occur within a few months of 2004-SEP-29 when Asteroid Toutatis will make a very close approach to the Earth - perhaps even a collision!
2012: Michael Drosnin, author of "The Bible Code," found a hidden message in the Pentateuch (the first five books in the Bible) that predicts that a comet will crash into the earth in 2012 and annihilate all life.
2012-DEC-22: The Mayan calendar has many divisions of time: months of 20 days, years of 360 days, katun of 7200 days and a baktun of 144,000 days, and a long cycle of 5,125 years.Their calendar started on 3114-AUG-13 BCE with the birth of Venus. They expected the world to last for exactly 13 baktun cycles. They anticipated the end of the world near the Winter Solstice of 2012. (3)
2016: An article in Weekly World News describes a find by a Professor Lloyd Cunningdale of Salt Lake City who was excavating with his students at the site of the famous Donner party disaster of 1847. The latter were a group of settlers bound for California who became trapped by snow in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Cunningdale and students have found a time capsule left by the settlers which contains many predictions for the future. They predict that nations will abandon traditional methods of conflict and resort to the use of biological warfare. In 2016, one such disease will spread and kill all of the humans on the planet. (4)

A prediction by a web site called "Troubled Times"
http://www.zetatalk.com/thub.htm"Troubled Times believes that a world-wide cataclysm, of massive proportions, will strike the Earth in the year 2003. The cause of this natural event will be a monster planet, known to the ancients but as yet undiscovered by modern man, which will pass very near the earth as part of its normal 3,600 year orbit around the sun."
I-Ching Predictions: 2000-2002 AD...04/20/99
By Prasad Sundararajan, PhD,
Executive Director School for Creative Perspective, Cochin, IndiaThe Search Theme: "The prospects of world: 2000 AD - to - 2002 AD"
Revelations:
a.Many individuals in authority - government - will be corrupt and will not be able to perform their jobs properly.
b.The people in authority will become so mainly due to an utter disregard and insignificance attributed to them by people and relevant systems of society. This will create a complex which will further worsen their approach to things. In general, 'less intelligent' individuals will have power and authority during the period.
c.Life and work activities in cities and towns will flow against the properties of life-sustaining forces and elements in the Nature.
d.Water will turn more and more unusable for human beings.
e.Even birds will not drink that water, which will force them to migrate into scarce locations and many will perish due to over-crowding. Gentle plants also may not survive in that polluted water.
f.Creatures of 'insect' characteristics will start surviving in a large scale.
g.The potential shift in ecology will be like 'breaking the bucket' - not exactly 'kicking the bucket'. [In Nature, the processes are typically slow. For example: if you put 995 grams of sugar the platform balance will have the one kilogram weight still hanging down.
h.Water reservoirs will break or develop leakage. Pipelines - of all kinds - will undergo massive damage, or succumb to wear and tear.
i.The 'rulers' will, meanwhile, go haywire that the usual administrative or management strategies [which actually maintained a lot of social security and infrastructure systems] will not be effective. Therefore, for example, the planning or work required to get good and usable water - which will require massive activities and cooperation of different sources - will not be undertaken properly.
j.People rich in resources, especially money and wealth, will not be of any help. Not because of any selfish motives but of a shocking discovery of the uselessness of money and wealth vis-à-vis the context then.
k.All initiatives will come from individuals whose intelligence operates in tuning with Nature-processes ['naturally intelligent'].
l.'Good fortune' is certain for those who live by sincerity and integrity in a firm, correct, and complete way ['emotional competency' - not 'emotional intelligence' of Daniel Goleman].
A Message from Standing Elk...03/15/99
On Thursday, March 4, 1999. I met with my Kola, Steve Red Buffalo. He asked me this question, "Tunkasila told me that when the moon dies, there will be no control over the water, there will be many floods". He then asked me, "What do you think it means?" We know the first thought that pops in your mind is usually the answer. The only words that came from my mouth was, "they are mining up on the moon and they have been there for over 50 years, I think they dug a little too deep". I told my kola that we would be going into ceremony and we'll ask the Grandmothers and Grandfathers what they mean.
In ceremony Grandmother came to give Her answer. Her dress was torn and tathered; Her body was marred; Her heart was black from the emptiness of theft: yet, even still, She came to bear a message of Love amongst tears and to heal in the steam. Grandmother said, "two-leggeds have mined my blood and stolen the treasures of my heart. Greedy ones have taken for wealth and science.
" I choose to die. I choose to give-away for I love Earth and the children. If you want to help, you may make a bundle for my Spirit; you can help me transition. My bundle is not for doctoring, nor for your concerns; it is prayer--to my Spirit and for the ways of woman. Keep my spiritbundle pure and until you receive a sign.
" In my giveaway are seven tears. Tears will drop to the ocean called Peace. The Woman--La Nina--will answer; wave will splash; blood of Earth will rise to the surface and boil. Though I die--in death rebirth--a new body will I have, perhaps even twins. If you care, keep my spirit: for, I will keep for woman."
This is a serious message everyone needs to take into consideration, meditation and prayer. I am asking the Spiritual Women Nations of the four directions and the Holy Women Nations of the four races of mankind to go into silence and pray for answers for the preparation. For it is the Women who are the representatives of Mother Earth and Grandmother Moon. Please share this message with everyone and go into your prayer circles and ceremonies because their is much that is coming with this message. There is time to change the outcome of this violation of Spirit. Please drink water, alot of water during this time, and share the following keys.
1. No more judgment, do not judge yourself.
2. Forgive everyone, learn to forgive yourself.
3. Find peace with everyone, find peace with yourself.
4. Love everything and everyone, learn to love yourself.
Mitakuye Oyasin,

Urgent Message From Steffan...01/27/99This letter is strictly for the West Coast. Others needn't worry, but should send light to the situation if you can.
I would ask that everyone pass this letter along to anyone you know on the West Coast.
Last night, I had 6 identical dreams In the dream, I was staring at a control panel of indicators, buttons, and charts about disasters, especially earthquakes. When the earthquake hit, even the indicator that said 'earthquake' shook violently. The fact that I had the dream 6 times is VERY important. That means it's highly likely to happen. After I woke up this morning, I had a series of at least a dozen visions. Each one was about the types of quake disaster that is going to occur.
In one, a tectonic plate dropped slightly. In the next, the plate dropped and quivered, and what looked like solid rock, turned to gravel and rolled around. In another one, the tectonic plates turned on edge like this: /////. In another one, I saw cars on top of roadways, raise up in the air 50 feet or more. In another, everything got all jumbled up like jackstraws.
I was told that there will not only be a lot of damage, but many deaths. When the earthquakes hit, there will also be tidal waves which will kill many more people along the coastline. For some reason, there is also going to be heavy cross winds which will cause damage to anything airborne at the time.
Let me tell you this also. Many people have been getting warnings from spirit to leave, and you haven't listened. Those of you who have gotten the warnings know who you are. NOW is the time to heed the warnings while there is still time. Not all types of quakes will hit the same place. These quakes will happen all along the west coast. A BIG shift is coming. Watch the little quakes now. That's where the indicators will show where the big ones are going to hit. We already know that Los Angeles will be one place. Little quakes are good. The are pressure relievers. It would be worse if there were none. Also be aware that 7 volcanoes are going to go off all at once also. They will be devastating as well. These volcanoes are all linked underneath the surface of the earth. These also will be along the West Coast.
I already know that many people will hide their heads and not heed the warnings. I was shown that too, but those of you who have the awareness will know that this is the time to go. You have 6 weeks to make the move. Make it less if you can.
A reading from Edgar Cayce...03/30/99
This Edgar Cayce reading given during the last war demonstrates for all to see clearly their relationship with the Cosmos and the risk to Earth by their actions here. One day we will all see that relationship?
TEXT OF READING 5757-1
This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the Hotel Warner, Virginia Beach, Va., this 21st day of June, 1940, at the Ninth Annual Congress of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
1. GC: You will give at this time a discourse on what are known as Sun Spots, explaining the cause of these phenomena and their effect on the earth and its inhabitants.
2. EC: In giving that as we find would be as helpful information in the experience of individuals gathered here, many conditions and phases of man's experience in the earth are to be considered.
3. When the heavens and the earth came into being, this meant the universe as the inhabitants of the earth know same; yet there are many suns in the universe, - those even about which our sun, our earth, revolve; and all are moving toward some place, - yet space and time appear to be incomplete.
4. Then time and space are but one. Yet the sun, that is the center of this particular solar system, is the center; and, as has been indicated and known of old, it is that about which the earth and its companion planets circulate, or evolve [revolve?].
5. The beginnings of the understanding of these, and their influences upon the lives of individuals, were either thought out, evolved or interpreted by those of old, without the means of observing same as considered today necessary in order to understand.
6. Astronomy is considered a science and astrology as foolishness. Who is correct? One holds that because of the position of the earth, the sun, the planets, they are balanced one with another in some manner, some form; yet that they have nothing to do with man's life or the expanse of life, or the emotions of the physical being in the earth.
7. Then, why and how do the effects of the sun SO influence other life in the earth and not affect MAN'S life, man's emotions?
8. As the sun has been set as the ruler of this solar system, does it not appear to be reasonable that it HAS an effect upon the inhabitants of the earth, as well as upon plant and mineral life in the earth?
9. Then if not, why, how did the ancients worship the sun AS the representative of a continuous benevolent and beneficent influence upon the life of the individual?
10. Thus as we find given, the sun and the moon and the stars were made also, - this being the attempt of the writer to convey to the individual the realization that there IS an influence in their activity! For, remember, they - the sun, the moon, the planets - have their marching orders from the divine, and they move in same.
11. Man alone is given that birthright of free will. He alone may defy his God!
12. How many of you have questioned that in thine own heart, and know that thy disobedience in the earth reflects unto the heavenly hosts and thus influences that activity of God's command! For YOU - as souls and sons and daughters of God - DEFY the living God!
13. As the sun is made to shed light and heat upon God's children in the earth, it is then of that composition of which man is made, or of that termed the earth; yet, as ye have seen and know, there is solid matter, there is liquid, there is vapor. All are one in their various stages of consciousness or of activity for what? Man - GODLY MAN! Yet when these become as in defiance to that light which was commanded to march, to show forth the Lord's glory, His beauty, His mercy, His hope, - yea, His patience, - do ye wonder then that there become reflected upon even the face of the sun those turmoils and strifes that have been and that are the sin of man?
14. Whence comest this?
15. All that was made was made to show to the sons, the souls, that God IS mindful of His children.
16. How do they affect man? How does a cross word affect thee? How does anger, jealousy, hate, animosity, affect thee AS a son of God? If thou art the father of same, oft ye cherish same. If thou art the recipient of same from others, thy brethren, how does it affect thee? Much as that confusion which is caused upon the earth by that which appears as a sun spot. The disruption of communications of all natures between men is what? Remember the story, the allegory if ye choose to call it such, of the tower of Babel.
17. Yea, ye say ye trust God, and yet want to show Him how to do it!
18. These become, then, as the influences that would show man as to his littleness in even entertaining hate, injustice, or that which would make a lie.
19. Be honest with thyself, as ye would ask even the ruler of thine earth - the sun - to harken to the voice of that which created it and to give its light IRRESPECTIVE of how ye act! For, as given, the sun shineth upon the just and the unjust alike, yet it is oft reflected in what happens to thee in thy journey through same.
20. The more ye become aware of thy relationships to the universe and those influences that control same, the greater thy ability to help, to aid, - the greater thy ability to rely upon the God-force within; but STILL greater thy RESPONSIBILITY to thy fellow men. For, as ye do it unto the least, ye do it unto thy Maker, - even as to the sun which reflects those turmoils that arise with thee; even as the earthquake, even as wars and hates, even as the influences in thy life day by day.
21. Then, what are the sun spots? A natural consequence of that turmoil which the sons of God in the earth reflect upon same.
22. Thus they oft bring confusion to those who become aware of same.
23. Let not your hearts be troubled; yet believe in God. Then just act like it - to others.
24. He has given thee a mind, a body; an earth, and land in which to dwell. He has set the sun, the moon, the planets, the stars about thee to remind thee, even as the psalmist gave, "Day unto day uttereth speech, night unto night sheweth knowledge."
25. These ye know, these ye have comprehended; but do ye take thought of same?
26. KNOW that thy mind - thy MIND - is the builder! As what does thy soul appear? A spot, a blot upon the sun? or as that which giveth light unto those who sit in darkness, to those who cry aloud for hope?
27. Hast thou created hope in thy association with thy fellow men?
28. Ye fear and cringe when ye find that the spots upon thy sun cause confusion of any nature.
29. How MUST thy Savior feel, look, appear, when ye deny Him day by day; when ye treat thy fellow man as though he were as dross and trash before thee?
30. We are through.
Sunspot activity & Earth Changes by Carolyn Kleintank...03/29/99
I have been channeling information about this for years and look for other information that will confirm what I have received. Besides what Gregg Braden and Drunvello have been saying, there are some explanations in The Keys Of Enoch....Key 1-1-4 page 131....
3. A time will soon come when man must enter a new galactic shell of the larger graviton spectrum. This happens when a solar civilization undergoes severe Magnetic and gravitational changes upon entering an electromagnetic null zone in its immediate universe.
4. Enoch told me that at this time the Higher Evolution will communicate knowledge to Man to prepare him for an exodus as this planet begins to experience geophysical upheavals and the release of neutral matter from the core of the sun.
32. The spin orientation creates spiraling effects which change the behavior of the electron and the electron-proton structure causing the special pattern to shift into new energy bands.
33. One has to go into a weak magnetic zone to allow for complete reorientation from without.
What I have received is similar to what Edgar Cacye has said....There were changes in the center of our planet in the core in the 30's that caused restructuring....Increasing sun-spot activity as the 'Keys" mention have a direct relationship with what is happening on the earth....(What I received) .This is part of a cosmic blueprint which is incorporated in our structure for advancing waves of vibrational law which governs our planet. This is all tied into the "precession".....Ancient cultures have been pointing to this time of change......This has been predicted for a long time......changes in migratory patterns of sea life, beaching of whales, storms....these are all part of the pattern....Vibrational bands on our planet are changing as a part of humankind's advancement along with our planet. This happens on a periodic basis, we just do not have the facts in our scientific memory, but the earth has evidence of this happening in the past.

The Grand Cross of August 17-18, 1999 by Rick RiedelDuring the two days of August 17 and 18, 1999, one of the most powerful and fearsome configurations known to astrologers will make itself shown in the heavens. This configuration involves the participation of all the major planets except Pluto and two minor asteroids in one of the four fixed signs of the zodiac. This forms a "Grand Cross," where all of the planets are either square or opposite each other.
Although apocalyptic prognosticators get excited about big conjunctions, like the one approaching in Taurus on May 5, 2000, these have historically been markers of a changing of the guard, rather than precipitators of actual events. The conjunction is classically the mark of the end of one cycle and the start of another. The massive "Super Conjunction" of February, 1962 was an example of this. Not much happened on the conjunction itself, but within 18 months, John Kennedy was shot, then the war in Vietnam escalated and soon, people were walking on the Moon. The Grand Cross is, instead, a configuration found in the middle of the cycle; the power point of the cycle.
The likes of the configuration that will be occurring in August of 1999 has not been seen in recent times. There was a weaker version of this configuration on January 11, 1910. This was in cardinal signs and included 7 major planets and 1 of the asteroids. The Grand Cross is part of a "crossing over" to a new era or age. It is to be noted that the first air transportation service, utilizing dirigibles in Germany, was established on this date. It is easy to see how the advances in technology transformed the world from a horse-and-buggy condition to the high-tech world we live in now. The Grand Cross coming this next August is much more powerful and features 9 major planets, the Moon's nodes, Chiron and 2 of the 4 asteroids in fixed signs. It will take someone with more sophisticated computer software than I have to research how long it has been since this configuration was last seen. It will affect everyone and everything. The Grand Cross can occur in any of 3 modes; cardinal, fixed or mutable. These correspond to the 3 gunas of the Vedas or rajas, tamas or sattva. This one is in the tamasic, or fixed signs. These are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. The fixed signs have long been recognized as crucial in the experience of mankind. The Sphinx is a composite of the fixed cross. It has the head of a man (Aquarius), the front paws of a lion (Leo), the body and rump of a bull (Taurus) and the wings of an eagle (Scorpio).
Here is the lineup:
In the earth sign of Taurus, we have Jupiter and Saturn. These two giants classically rule the everyday, down-to- earth concerns of society. The stock market, housing, crop abundance or failure, money and the sense of comfort or anxiety over these things are under the influence of Jupiter and Saturn. In the Grand Cross, they represent the Earth and her relationship to humanity. All of the planets can operate in positive or negative ways. Here we have either the reverence for Mother Earth and her resources or the final destruction of plant and animal species, the fouling of air and water and, possibly, Her revolt against this disrespect.
Opposite these two, in the water sign of Scorpio, we have the Moon, Mars, Chiron and the asteroid Juno. Here we see the pressures brought about by the New World Order. The police state. Repression, control, the wounded psyche of a frustrated, confined society in fear over crime, change, and the reluctance to part with the "old way" of doing most everything. Even though this may be the area that precipitates the crisis envisioned by this planetary configuration, there is the least amount of staying power here. It may be that some action by the ruling elite will trigger the situation, but there is little here to sustain it. On a positive note, here we have the courage to pour forth energy and healing from the millions of light workers out there, and the inclination to step forward to teach and heal those who are feeling fright and suffering.
Square to this opposition, we have Neptune and Uranus in the air sign of Aquarius. The two slowest-moving and influential planets in this configuration are here representing the New Age; The Age of Aquarius. This is the social awareness, the group-conscious energies that today can be seen in reams of channeled material, world meditation days and the trend away from consumerism, materialism and the quest for power. At their worst, these two planets represent fixedness of thinking and reluctance to move on. At their best, they fuel the paradigm shift, the jump to the next quantum level, the leap to the next dimensional awareness.
Opposite this is a stellium in the fire sign of Leo. The Sun, Mercury,Venus, the asteroid Ceres and the North Node of the Moon occupy the sign of self-conscious identity. Here we have the leaders of our governments and religious organization. Here, too are the creative abilities of light workers everywhere. The self-assurance that comes from connection of the personality with the soul. This is the self-confidence that comes from hours spent in meditation; from lessons learned via discrimination and experience.
All of these planets are involved in a configuration that forms a cross, the arrangement of stress, tension and power. In the cyclic view, this is the position like that of a person pedaling a bicycle when the pedals are perfectly parallel to the ground. This is the time to apply maximum power to the pedals. It is here that the champion asserts himself and the pretender finds that there is not enough strength to push the crank another turn. This is the eye of the needle, the point of focus for all of the cosmic energy, both entering and leaving our lovely planet. We all have to go through this funnel; the New World Order and the New Age; both will find this as the make or break moment that will decide the destiny of us all.
The one notable exception in this configuration is the planet Pluto. Motionless in Sagittarius, Pluto is ceasing its annual retrograde motion, a position of great power. In 1978, Pluto moved inside the orbit of Neptune, and, for the next 20 years, from this unusual vantage point, has traced out it's defining pattern of evolution for society as a whole. This phenomenon happens once every 250 years or so and these periods have been remarkable in human history. The birth of Jesus Christ took place during one of these periods. Pluto will be emerging from its inner position at the time of the Grand Cross. It is the one light of hope during this configuration. Hopefully, it signals the growth of societal consciousness to the point that world destruction or enslavement will be eschewed in favor of enlightenment, discrimination and brotherhood. Pluto makes a wonderful trine aspect to all the planets in Leo. This emphasizes the ability of each individual to make their own choices during this crisis. Pluto is also making a beneficent sextile to Uranus and Neptune in Aquarius, indicating the power of the coming New Age will have a chance to assert itself.
Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that there is an eclipse at 18 degrees Leo 21 minutes on August 10, just a week before. This is not just any eclipse, either. This eclipse is the first in a new cycle of 19 Saros cycles, a further indication of a new beginning.
Seers have had some things to say about these two days.
The California psychic, Charles Jeron Criswell King, popularly known simply as "Criswell," says that, time and time again, he has dreamed of a day when people will speak to one another, and when they talk about tomorrow, nothing will come out of their mouths. That same day, Criswell predicts, what he calls a "black rainbow" will encircle the earth, and will slowly suck away most of the air in the atmosphere. Men everywhere will die in the streets. But the disaster will last only a short while, with survivors coming back afterward to rebuild the earth. Criswell says this day will be August 18, 1999. Criswell knew nothing of astrology and it's anyone's guess as to where he came up with this date, as he made his prediction sometime in the 1950's.
Nostradamus, usually vague and metaphorical, comes right out and says:
"The year 1999, in the seventh month There will appear in the heavens the sign of the King of Terror When the great leader of the Mongols (Orient) is reborn And Mars (war) reigns supreme once more" X, 22
Although moderns would see the 7th month as July, the writings of Nostradamus were translated from Old French and the term "sept" is involved. First and foremost Nostradamus was an astrologer, and possibly stuck to tradition, counting months as "moons" or lunation cycles. In 1999, the Grand Cross occurs a week after the 7th Moon of 1999, the eclipse at 18b21. This is the "sign of the King of Terror" referred to above. The "leader of the Mongols," in the opinion of many, refers to a "Lord of Darkness" or non-physical being. I would be inclined to think that this refers to solar flares, of which there have been many; a pattern which began in August of 1998. A very large flare could certainly generate the "black rainbow" envisioned by Criswell. In any case, Nostradamus sees this time span as being important, and we would be remiss to ignore him.
It always seems like prophecies are usually gruesome, but because of free will, and because of the rapid changes going on here and now, predictions are always suspect. It is safe to say, however, that the planets will continue on their present track and enter into this Grand Cross configuration no matter what else comes to pass. It is best, then, to be prepared and watchful as the time approaches. We could be talking about anything from a pole shift to political upheaval. Personal experience tells me that political tensions are more likely than physical cataclysms.
Keep in mind that these two days are not a flash in the pan. Rather, the planets assemble, one by one and tension builds as yet another planet enters a fixed sign. These two days (actually 2 1/2 days, when the Moon is in Scorpio. This is from August 16th at 3:40 PM, PDT until 3:31 AM, PDT on August 19th) are simply the peak of the energy push. Anyone born under any of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius will be profoundly affected during these two days. Some interesting political/ economic leaders born under fixed signs are:
Bill Clinton (Leo)
Hillary Clinton (Scorpio)
Saddam Hussein (Taurus)
Tony Blair (Taurus)
John Howard - Australian Prime Minister (Leo)
Prince Charles (Scorpio)
Bill Gates (Scorpio)I'm sure there are more, I just don't have their birthdays.
When confronted with challenges such as this, there is a tendency to react with fear and trepidation. If indeed the New World Order will use this opportunity to make their final moves towards power and control, fear is their primary weapon. The magnificent trine of the powerful Pluto to the "personal planets" of the Sun, Mercury and Venus in Leo will be felt by each and every individual who honors light and freedom as a connection to their inner spark, their own soul. Be it in silent meditation, or via caring, encouraging contact with close friends, it is the self confidence and optimism of individuals everywhere that can distribute the transformative power of the Divine energy presented through Pluto, the one planet that stands apart from the strife and pressure of the Grand Cross. We can all hang on to our personal connection to The One Creator. If ever there was a time for a "world meditation day" this is it. The best times for this would be at the traditional times of sunrise, noon, sunset and midnight, as at these times, there would be a fixed sign rising, no matter what your location. I never make predictions; nobody really knows what will happen. This is a free will zone and this does make the outcome uncertain. All we can do is realize that this powerful astrological configuration is going on and be ready, in body, mind and spirit.
Gordon Michael Scallion 1999 Predictions...01/21/99
In his Future Map series, GMS names the years 1998 through 2001 as a time when Earth will go through the most dynamic changes she has experienced in over 11,500 years. It is this time period when Earth changes will be at maximum intensity, and as a result of our being "put to the test," great advances in technology and spirituality will occur. He refers to this time as the transition of the equinoxes.
This year, 1999, signals the second year of his predicted "transition" period. The year 1998 broke records worldwide - the highest global temperature in recorded history was recorded in July, and the highest-ever damages and loss of life due to storm related weather also occurred.
In this month's featured article, "Predictions for 1999," GMS presents his insights in a different manner than he has in previous years. If you have read his book, Notes from the Cosmos, you may recall his predictions titled the "Milios." Like many intuitives, the methods by which GMS receives information vary greatly from one occurrence to the next.
Over the past 20 years, GMS has received messages through visions, in dreams, through intuitive insight, in symbolic form, and lately, in the verse-like form of the Milios. In the past, GMS has taken the information that has been conveyed - in whatever form - and interpreted it himself before presenting it. We would then publish his personal interpretations of the material received in ECR. For these 1999 predictions, GMS was directed to present the information exactly as it was received. It is his understanding that experiencing the material in its raw form may very well act as a trigger for readers, opening up their own intuitive channels, and enhancing their ability to receive more personal intuitive guidance. T
his year's predictions are presented, as received by GMS, in the same format as the Milios. To aid the reader, GMS has included his own interpretation at the end of each section; however, he suggests that you form your own interpretations fully before reading his.
THE POPE
Smoke signals the changing of the guard. Simon is replaced by a native who shall be last. Two millennia or rule pass from history.GMS INTERPRETATION:
The Pope passes over. The next Pope to be installed will be Italian; he will be the last Pope.SOLAR FLARES
Fireflies dance in the heavens above, Silencing Mercury and painting the sky. Flee to caves and below ground Else the changelings will take hold. Born anew, species small and large, Oh what shapes and colors these creatures be, That replaces those of an age with the number three. Though strange today, the morrow's questioners shall say Cows and bulls and elephants, Perhaps these were names used for play.GMS INTERPRETATION:
Massive solar flares will hit Earth. Satellites, the power grid and computers will fail. Nature begins to change, as genetics are altered. Many species will eventually become extinct. New species will emerge.MAGNETIC POLE SHIFT
Neptune reigns as Hades shifts. Nature recants and linds lift. One from afar visits with grace, To hold humankind's hand and lift up their face. Zeus in command, his army at bay When double is seen in the heavens above Then shall be the day of the dove.GMS INTERPRETATION:
There are so many competing elements in this Milios that I am not sure how to interpret all of the lines. I sense that the main theme deals with a shift in Earth's core, causing a movement in the magnetic field. According to my Future Map of the world, a pole shift is predicted to occur between 1998 and 2012, with the first shifts ovvurring between 1998 and 2001.THE CHAMELEON
Machines of metal, the alchemists built To conquer those lands of long dispute. The Chameleon strikes first, in the land of the Ark Where it now rests under millennia of bark. Fulfilling his destiny by resurrecting the dead, The Chameleon seduces the multitude by giving them bread.GMS INTERPRETATION:
This may indicate the emergence of the biblically prophesied "Anti-Christ." Turkey has been mentioned in my previous predictions (dating back to the early 80s) as where the start of the final battle between good and evil will occur, before the millennium of peace begins. This stanza may be referring to Turkey, since it has been suggested by researchers and the Bible itself that Noah's Ark cam to rest on top of Mount Ararat in Turkey.GLOBAL ECONOMY
Castor reigns, the coffers depleted; Rainy days have come, But expect little help, from the umbrella of red. Seven of plenty and seven of lean, A repeat of history - who shall be fed?GMS INTERPRETATION:
It appears that the Milios is telling us that financial difficulties are ahead, perhaps relating to insurence - i.e., "umbrella of red," the icon for Travelers Insurance Company. My guess is that the timing of the event in question is based on star alignment - Castor? I did a search for the name "Castor" and one definition that stood out was related to mythology, and a particular group of stars. An astrologer may come forward to shed some light on this for a future issue.BREAKTHROUGH IN HEART DISEASE
A leaf stands out as a beacon of light. How is it so that it knows of a blight? The study of this shall aid those afflicted, Death takes a holiday When circulation is restored. Oh what marvels during the transition of ages As humankind discovers what nature can teach. The crab shall be next, another age though, As the forces of nature drive the demons to Saturn.GMS INTERPRETATION:
I think this Milios is directing us to study Nature to seek cures for diseases, such as arterial blockage. Perhaps the "crab shall be next" refers to the astrological sign of Cancer; or it may be referring to cancer as a disease, and saying that some energy force produced by Nature will be able to cure it.UFOS
Alone no more, the veil lifted Truth finds a voice Where before it was silenced. Visitors confirmed, setting the stage For contact celebrated at the dawn of a new age. Return have they from seven above Bringing with the hope and expressions of love.GMS INTERPRETATION:
Perhaps 1999 is the year when world governments join together to publicly confirm the existence of extraterrestrials, and to share with us what has been discovered about them.Predictions Thoughts for 1999 By Terry Tim Rodgers
Professional Psychic for 25 years © 1999
Note: These are my predictions. I have not copied-used-or redone anyone else 's predictions. These are dated-copied-and recorded (as usual) for research and reference.
Personal Note: This year we are going to have a bumpy ride. There is going to be more turmoil and strife then ever before. If you are playing games look out. There are many, MANY professional people in all walks of life that will be exposed for the falsehood they are portraying. This includes TV, government, military, clergy, talk radio, TV evangelist, anyone who has some type of power and authority. Remember the Age of Aquarius means new spiritually, but it comes with a price. EXPOSURE OF FALSEHOOD. No new enlightenment can stand without truth from the people in control. Until our leaders become pure we will not experience true enlightenment.
Prediction 1
1.. There will be no UFO landing. There isn't going to be any UFO exposure. There isn't going to be any Type of contacts what so ever. The government is holding the information back for one soul reason. BECAUSE WE REALLY CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH. We may think we can, but the majority of the human race is to evil to be able to communicate properly with another alien race. The proof is all around you, wars, hate, killing, envy, jealousy, total insubordination and no respect what so ever for any other human beings whether it is their beliefs, thoughts or feelings.
2.. Watch out. There are many aspects of Society that has lost their consciences. They don't know the Difference between right and wrong. They are so self-involved that they can' t see the truth right before their eyes. This is going to be a major problem in all aspect of Society. It is in the stages of filtering down to the normal lay person now, starting with our children. The only way we will get our conscience back is through our higher power and a firm belief system.
3. Death is at our doorstep. I know this may sound terrible, but it is true. The purging will be great. Unless it takes place, man will not make it through the coming changes. The world, at the present, is in a state of confusion. This confusion is caused by sin. Now don't get me wrong I am not preaching, but sin has make us a species of murders that will not stop at any price to get what they want. Because of this the wrath of God is upon us. Many of the Western Governmental leaders are working night and day to combat the coming battle, but they have gone the wrong way. They have decided to seek after lies. They have lost their way. The only way they can find their way back is to seek the truth in the meek.
4. We will see a mass amount of flooding this spring and summer. This will be the coming of the great, great Earth changes. I must point out that these earth changes are for all, good and bad. The wheat will be spared, but only by a thread. The wicked in high places will not make it unless the truth is revealed. Time to give up the ship before it is to late.
5. We will see many deaths in the entertainment areas. I see many stars falling because of total disrespect for their jobs. The use of power and fame will cause many young stars to fall so greatly that some will be worshiped after death. (like Princess Di.)
6. I also see the entertainment area will become a nation of leaders. These leaders will be nothing but hate lovers with many, many people following them. They also have developed a great amount of wealth and with this the power has become so great that the pull will be felt in every area of society. They will dictate who will be famous, who will be rich, who will be in power and who will fall.
7. Many of the changes are coming, but not like many prophets have predicted. There are many false prophets who are spreading all kind of theories and ideas that are totally off center. They are nothing but false promises that can not be filled. Anyone that can't speak to you directly at your level isn't able to understand the true meaning of life. The changes that do and will take place are war and disease related. ¾ of the worlds population will be gone by the year 2012 if not sooner.
8. The Pope will pass by June. As I stated before the next Pope will be the last.
9. The antichrist will come into power by the end of the year. He is very well known, but is kept under the QT until later. He knows NOW whom he is and what he is to do. He comes from a mid-east country and was born November 12, 1967.
10.Money will be tight. Watch your money flow. Stock piles everything you can get your hands on. Pure water will be worth its weight in gold soon. I would advise everyone to take their money out of Banks as soon as possible. (This has to do with the smart card) When you do, buy property-food-clothing and shelter. Make sure you have a well and a water purifier these will be very important for your survival.
11. Many bombing will take place on our shores. As I stated before there will be a great amount of death relating to these bombings. New York City, LA, San Francisco, Houston, Phoenix, Seattle, Dayton, Miami, New Orleans are the most vulnerable to these attacks. They will occur in the most inopportune time and place.
12. As everyone has guessed the stock market is about to crash, but what you don't know is that many Internet stocks will fall as well. The only internet stocks that will survive will be the top leaders. So many small internet companies will be bought out by the big leagues for one purpose, to totally control of the internet as we know it. They will take control of the internet right before your eyes and no one will be able to stop them. . They will dictate the Internet laws. If you wish to invest, do it in the new internet that is forming.
13. Y2K isn't going to be what you think it is. Now don't get me wrong, but 70% of the hype about Y2K is bogus. The United States and many other countries are right in line for the year 2000. The other countries are the ones that will be hurting the most. Many of the hype that is going on are only for one reason. To bring about the New World Order. This will become more clearly as the year progresses.
14.Hoaxes are a source for disruption and deception. The reason why hoaxes are taking place in many of the paranormal areas is to cause disruption of our belief system. If you see everything and anything being a hoax, then you are that much more likely to not believe the truth when you see it. There are special agents that do nothing but expose hoaxes that they have made themselves. This is all just a ploy to mislead many people. The true elect will see this and know what is going on. Many innocent people will be scared for life. (Including myself)
15. Watch out for major weather problems throughout the year. Every season will have major changes. This is caused by government manipulation of our weather system through new technology. What the government doesn't realize is they have set a time bomb in action and it is now just beginning to spin out of control. The ultimate end will be a complete change of the whole earth's climate. The wheels are moving in the wrong direction.
16. Look for 3D TV and computer systems to appear at the end of this year. Computer will be so small and fast that your head will spin. Much new technological advancement will change our everyday life so quickly that we will not be able to keep up with it. The regular lay person will be able to send their own satellite's up in space for just a few thousand dollars. These satellites will be used for all aspects of our daily life.
17 Spiritual signs will be seen everywhere where, but 80% will be holographic fakes from religious groups and the government. There will be however many that are legit. The false signs will lead many astray by the false manifestations.
18. Spirituality has become a fake sign to bring people to the New World order. Many, many religious group promise direct relationship with a higher power when 75% are nothing but a way for people to make money. The fruits of the groups will be exposed this year and many, many new age groups will fall because of false teachings.
19. There is no escape for Clinton; he will be out of office. He will do his best to save his job, but nothing will work. Hillary has already filed for divorce and will make it public soon. Look for Ken Star to be exposed as having a sexual relationship with another person. Someone you least expect.
20. The flu will kill many. It is a new plague that has hit the earth. This flu is very different then anything discovered before. Research will be done and expose it as a man made virus. This will then cause world-wide panic as to who made it.
21. As this year progresses you will see all hope lost. Many, many religious people will leave their churches because of the hope of God and a better live spiritually will be gone. The spirit has been taken away to cause us to enter the seven years of trouble. As the spirit leaves hopelessness will enter. This will cause so many people to leave their churches
22.Two plane crashes will occur by March. One in California the other between Florida and Virginia beach. I have 15 more prediction coming but wanted to get these out as soon as possible.
Please understand some of these predictions where very hard for me to share, but they have been confirmed many time to me as occurring soon. I think the true will speak for itself in these predictions. It is time to understand the truth and accept it although you might not want to admit it. If we as people do not change we are doomed to destruction.
The fate of the world rest in our hand, but alas the hands of fate could have dealt us our final card.

Sincerely Yours,
Terry Tim Rodgers

As knowledge increase it also expose false hood people hanging their hopes on chronology they think an increase in knowledge in the last days means understanding predication of dates.
Rather, I would suggest it exposes those predictions as false for those that have understanding. It strenghten the faith of those putting faith in Christ Jesus. That he did not leave his fellowers in darkness he warned of the many false predictions. He further state that no one would know the day or hour of his return.
The history of predication listed in this post proves Christ words to be truth and exposes those that want the glory of men over the glory of God. The simple humble words of the master are not enough for them they must gain personal salvation out of their own wisdom.
Let God be found true and evey man a lier!
However, there has never been a major destruction in recorded bible history involving God’s people that show someone surviving the catechism without having a relationship with God or acting out of faith in God spokesperson.
If chorologist take the dates of the bible as life and death matter then certainly they would take the rest of the bible which states without ambiguity Christ is the now days spokesperson of God. In fact, all the prophets, prophecies and scriptures were fulfilled in him and him alone.
Self-preservation chronologist believe they are the ones that have special insight into dates of the bible, thus, they become God’s spokesperson informing and providing away for salvation through the dates revealed to them. Subsequently, speaking for God as a modern day prophet.
Unfortunately disregarding the greater weight and works of the scriptures. Thus, 99% of the New Testament deals with our relationship with God not biblical chronology and the bases for our salvation, which is our relationship with God through Christ.
Christian are to present themselves to God not by chronology but rather in spiritual holiness: “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. Then with a tremendous crash the heaven will put away; the burning elements will pass away; the burning element will be dissolved; the earth too and the works in it shall be burned up.
No matter what your interpretation of these verses are (literal or symbolic) one point stands alone in these verses there is no place to hid (if you believe the bible) for personal preservation or personal salvation. Thus, should follow the action a Christian should take for salvation:
“Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, how consecrated and reverent your behavior should be.”
The bible repeats itself time and again that a relationship with God comes through Christ and that is the only means of salvation not once does it state a person can come up with a date and because they figured that date out God is obligated to give salvation.
“For, Christ, too, once died for sinners, the just on behalf of the unjust, so that He might lead us up to God, put to death as He was physically but made alive spiritually. Thus, He went and preached to the spirits in prison, who were disobedient at the time when God’s patience was delaying while Noah was constructing an ark in which a few, in fact eight souls, were brought safely through the water.”
It’s counterpart, “baptism”, saves you nowadays, not by removal of physical filth, but by the earnest seeking of a conscience that is clear in God’s presence, which is due to the resurrection of Jesus Christ who is at God’s right hand: for He went to heaven, and angles, authorities and powers are made subject to Him.
There was no mystical salvation for early Christian they knew where their salvation came from they did not live a fear driven life of personal salvation through scrupulously studying the bible their faith did not rest upon earth in human interpretation of biblical chronology.
“If we accept human testimony, God’s testimony is stronger, and God’s witness is this which He testified regarding His Son; the believer in the Son of God possesses the witness with in himself. He, who disbelieves God, has put no faith in the evidence God has adduced regarding His Son, and this is the evidence; Go has granted us eternal life and this life is in His Son.
He who has the Son has that life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have that life”.
Chronologist seeks what Christian have already received in their faith in the Son of God eternal life. Their fear driven life based on losing salvation by not finding the correct biblical dates diverts attention from the Son of God Christ Jesus, which is the fulfillment of all prophecy including the final prophecies regarding the human race salvation.
Satan appeals to pride “ secret knowledge” once unlocked reinforces the mind that the person is special and has been given special knowledge do to their special ness. Once in that position they become self-proclaimed spokesperson for God instead of Christ Jesus.
The bible teaches a person gains salvation not because they are wise or intellectual, but because of God’s love for the human race. Thus, peace comes to those that accept God’s means of salvation. Peace is void of fear it requires trust and resting in God’s promises to His children. -

Do these people every get embarassed like the rest of us?
They must think they are the smartest people on earth? They are willing to mislead people ruin lives chances the loss of their own eternal life, reject the words of Christ to make their predictions of the end of the world. They can't learn from history. They have no fear of God or hurting their fellowman.
There are some on this forum although they read of the many ruined lives they continue in their arrogrance predicting dates as prophets of God. Are they embrassed yet?

Over 200 predictions and counting! Yes the end is coming, but all human predictions are wrong!
The End of the World!!!Mathew 24:35-36 "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone." Jesus Christ.
Date setters, making irresponsible predictions! Misleading the ignorant masses for higher TV ratings and book sales!
An untold number of people have tried to predict the Lord's return by using elaborate time tables. Most date setters do not realize mankind has not kept an unwavering record of time. Anyone wanting to chart for example 100 BC to 2000 AD would have contend with the fact 46 BC was 445 days long, there was no year 0 BC, and in 1582 we switched from Julian Years (360 days) to Gregorian (365 days). Because most prognosticators are not aware of all these errors, from the get go their math is already off by several years.

Mémoires de la Société Archéologique de Montpellier, 2 (1850), 451-509, second copy located by Michel Huglo: BN lat. 1928 f.178, Fécamp c.1040).
950
"Treatise on the Antichrist" by Adso of Montier-en-Der, c.950, a response to a variety of crises at mid-century that provoked widespread apocalyptic disquiet, and rapidly become a central text in the European eschatological literature (ed. by Verhelst, CCSL, Cont. med. aeui 40; study in the context of 1000, by Verhelst, "Adso van Montier-en-Der en de angst voor het jaar Duizend," Tijdschrift voor Geschiedenis, 90 (1977), 1-10); and C. Carozzi, La fin des temps: Terreurs et prophéties au Moyen Age (Paris: Stock, 1982), pp.186-94. See below # .
950-80:
R.B.C. Huygens, "Un témoin" [n.11], p.231, lines 94-106; letter from the bishop of Auxerre to the bishop of Verdun (commentary by Huygens, p.236f). Dated variously early tenth century, or, according to Huygens, to second half of the tenth ("Un témoin de la crainte de l'an 1000: La lettre sur les Hongrois," Latomus, 15 (1956), 224-38); considered the background of Adso's treatise (see below #3).
950
In A.D. 950 Adso of Montier-en-Der wrote a "Treatise on the Antichrist" which was a response to a number of mid-century crises that had provoked widespread alarm and fear of an end-time apocalypse.(5) Five years later, Abbo of Fleury heard a preacher in Paris who announced that the Antichrist would be unleashed in the year 1000 and that the Last Judgment would soon follow.(6) At about the same time a panic occurred in the German army of Emperor Otto I because of a solar eclipse that the soldiers mistook as a sign of the end of the world.(7) And when the last Carolingian dynasty fell with the death of King Louis V in 987, many saw this event as a precursor to the arrival of the Antichrist. King Otto II of Germany had Charlemagne's body exhumed on Pentecost in the year 1000 supposedly in order to forestall the apocalypse. Both Halley's comet in A.D. 989 and a super nova in A.D. 1006 were interpreted as signs of the end. About the same time, the Moslem caliph, Al Hakim, destroyed the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem prompting apocalyptic fear in the west as well as violent anti-Jewish outbursts.(8)
964:
"Dum saeculum transit finis mundi appropinquat..." [As the saeculum (century?) passes, the end of the world approaches.] Cartulaire de Saint-Jouin-de-Marnes, pp.1, 11, 17.
965:
Abbo hears a preacher in Paris announcing the unleashing of Antichrist for 1000 AD and the Last Judgment for shortly thereafter (see below # 7, 17).
968:
Panic in Otto's army at an eclipse the soldiers took to portend the end of the world (Gesta episcoporum Leodensium, MGH SS IX, p.202)
968-9:
Annalists note in the margin of Easter tables: mille anni a nativitate Christi, based on a "misreading" of the base year in the Easter Tables as Anno passionis. Three years earlier unusual events with apocalyptic tonality (fire from heaven, release of demons) occur. (Annales de Saint Florent de Saumur, et de Vendôme, Halphen Recueil d'annales angevines, p.58 n.2, 116 n.6.) Note that, in typical capstone style, Halphen does not include the note, with its millennial consciousness in the text of his edition, nor even in a footnote to that year, but appended to a footnote for another year, and explained away as a mistake.
969 and/or 980:
widespread apocalyptic expectation in Lotharingia at the coincidence of the Annunciation and the Crucifixion agaist which Abbo writes a letter.
979:
Sigebert of Gembloux, Chronicon universale c.1114, PL 160 c.194 (here using Abbo's correction of the date AD; see next item).
983-4:
Abbo redates the year 1000 four years into the past (true AD 1000 = Dionysus' 979) using the apocalyptic beliefs above (#7, see also #17) as the basis of his calculations.
987-91:
The last Carolingian dynasty (the final hindrance to the arrival of Antichrist according to Adso) falls; the capture of the last potential ruler occurs under most dastardly cirumstances. Southern charters begin to date AD, with Christ reigning, a traditional interregnal formula with apocalyptic antecedants (Kantarowicz, The King's Two Bodies, p. ).
989, August:
Halley's Comet appears, cited in Annales divionenses, MGH SS V, p. ; and Annales Quedlinburgenses MGH SS III, p.68; Thietmar of Mersebourg, Chronicon IV, 10; (also Glaber III, 3? acc. to France, p.110-11, and n.4, but see below under 1006, #29); P. Moore and J. Mason, The Return of Halley's Comet (Cambridge, 1984), p.46)
989-1000:
First wave of peace councils in the South (see below).
990s:
mention of apocalyptic beliefs leading to violent seizure of church property at St. Hilaire.
990s-1010s:
Preaching of Aelfric and Wulfistan, filled with images of Last Judgment, explicity linked at points to the year 1000 and the unleashing of Antichrist (Gatch, Milton McC., Preaching and Theology in Anglo-Saxon England: Aelfric and Wulfstan (Toronto, U. Press, 1977).
992:
Coincidence of Crucifixion and Annunciation; Nouaillé begins its charters for the next decade with "Appropinquante finem mundi..."; Adso, an old man, leaves on a one-way pilgrimage to Jerusalem; German chronicles report light from north at dawn like the sun, rumor among many that 3 suns, 3 moons and stars were fighting, indicating heavy mortality and famine (Thietmar IV, 19; An. Quedl. ad an. 993, MGH SS III, 69; Annales Augustani, ibid. p.124).
994-1000:
Outbreaks of sacer ignis throughout France, associated in Limoges with the Peace of God.
994-5:
various signs (including a monstrous child), famines, plagues and mortality in Saxony, referred to as the biblical "tria iudicia pessima" (Annales Quedlinburgenses, MGH SS, III p.94; also Thietmar IV, 17; Annales Augustani, MGH SS III, 124).
994-6:
Abbo of Fleury, Apologeticus ad hugonem et rodbertum reges francorum, London, BM 10972, f.22v; PL 139 c.471-2; dated before 996 by Vidier (p.105- 7); 994-5 by Mostert (p.48-51). Concerning the end of the world, as a youth (adolescentulus) I heard a sermon in a [the?] church in Paris that as soon as the number of a thousand years should come, the Antichrist would come, and not long thereafter, the Last Judgment would follow; which preaching I resisted with all my strength from the Evangels and the Apocalypse and the book of Daniel.
994-999:
Otto III engages in elaborate program of renovatio imperii romani that, from the apocalyptic scenario, would reaffirm the existence of the "barrier" to Antichrist, particulary important given the demise of the last of the Carolingians in the previous decade (see above # 3, 9). In this he recapitulated many of Charlemagne's responses to the coming of the year 6000 (see below # 14, 17).

1000
This year goes down as one of the most pronounced states of hysteria over the return of Christ. All members of society seemed affected by the prediction that Jesus was coming back on Jan 1, 1000 AD. There really weren't any of the events required by the Bible transpiring at that time. The magical number 1000 was primarily the sole reason for the expectation. During December 999 AD, everyone was on their best behavior; worldly goods were sold and given to the poor, swarms of pilgrims headed east to meet the Lord at Jerusalem, buildings went unrepaired, crops were left unplanted, and criminals were set free from jails. The year 999 AD turned into 1000 AD and nothing happened.

1000
Five reasons why 1000AD was not a significant date:
- People did not even know the date -- peasants had no notion of chronological time, elites used a variety of systems and even those using AD disagreed.
- There are no theological reasons for 1000 to have eschatological significance.
- There is almost no surviving evidence of any apocalyptic terrors from the period.
- The little that survives is not directly related to 1000, but to dates such as 968, 1010 and 1033.
- Therefore we should not be surprised to find 1000 was a "year like any other" in which the normal train of medieval life -- wars, councils, ploughing, and praying -- went on in uninterrupted flow.
The utter absence of documentation attesting to apocalyptic beliefs and movements is, in this view, decisive proof. How can one possibly argue that a whole generation is obsessed with something about which they do not talk? by Richard Landes

1135-1202
The Calabrian monk, Joachim of Fiore (ca. A.D. 1135 1202) stands out as a key figure in medieval apocalypticism. On Easter Sunday in 1183 he was inspired to write his massive Exposition on Revelation. Later near the end of his life, he summarized his prophetic knowledge in the Book of Figures. His writings influenced a wide range of medieval events. The Franciscan order was founded on the basis that they would be the spiritual elite described in Joachim's "Age of the Spirit," a future time when God would send revelation directly to believers. Using Joachim's hints, writers concluded that the "Age of Grace" would end and the "Age of the Spirit" would begin in A.D. 1260. This prophecy, mixed with German social unrest, created a myth surrounding Frederick II. Having ruled from 1220 to 1250, many believed that Frederick was the "Emperor of the Last Days" who would usher in the new Millennium. The myth gained force when Frederick seized Jerusalem in 1229. When he died in 1250, a new myth started that Frederick would return from the dead. Two pseudo-Fredericks were burned at the stake by his successor to the throne. The Book of a Hundred Chapters stated that the returned Frederick would lead a fight against corruption in the state and the church, and that he will instruct his followers to "Go on hitting them" (referring to the Pope and his students) and to "Kill every one of them!" (
Paul Boyer, When Time Shall Be No More: Prophecy Belief in Modern American Culture, Cambridge, Mass.: The Belknap Press, Harvard University, 1992, p. 53-55 )1186
The "Letter of Toledo" warned everyone to hide in the caves and mountains. The world would be destroyed and only a few would be spared.
1415
The Taborites, founded in A.D. 1415, also looked back to Joachim for their prophetic beliefs. They believed that once their persecutors were defeated, Christ would return and rule the world from Mount Tabor, a mountain they had renamed south of Prague. Their communal activities eventually turned bloody, prompted by tracts with lines like, "Accursed be the man who withholds his sword from shedding the blood of the enemies of Christ." (
Paul Boyer, When Time Shall Be No More: Prophecy Belief in Modern American Culture, Cambridge, Mass.: The Belknap Press, Harvard University, 1992, p. 53-55 ) After a crushing defeat at the hands of the German army, the group quickly disbanded. Although all of these prophecies were misguided, it would be a mistake to doubt the sincerity of the individuals. However, the events surrounding the end of the first millennium should temper our desire to make predictions about the coming new millennium. Next, we will look at more recent predictions that have been just as wrong.1420
The Taborites of Czechoslovakia predicted every city would be annihilated by fire. Only five mountain strongholds would be saved.
1524-1526
Muntzer, a leader of German peasants, announced that the return of Christ was near. After he and his men destroyed the high and mighty, the Lord would return. This belief led to an uneven battle with government troops where he was strategically out-numbered. Muntzer claimed to have a vision from God where the Lord promised that He would catch the cannon balls of the enemy in the sleeves of His cloak. The vision turned out to be false when Muntzer and his followers were mowed down by cannon fire.

A repeat of the Muntzer affair occurred a few years late. This time Jan Matthys took over the city of Munster. The City was to be the only one spared destruction. The inhabitants of Munster, chased out by Matthys and his men, regrouped and lay siege to the city. Within a year everyone in the city was dead.

To the citizens of London, 1666 was not a banner year. A bubonic plague outbreak killed 100,000 and the Great Fire of London struck the same year. The world seemed at an end to most Londoners. The fact that the year ended with the Beast's number (666), didn't help matters either.

Mary Bateman, who specialized in fortune telling, had a magic chicken that laid eggs with end time messages on them. One message said that Christ was coming. The uproar she created ended when she was caught forcing an egg into the hen's oviduct by an unannounced visitor. Mary later was hanged for poisoning a wealthy client.
1814
Spiritualist Joanna Southcott made the startling claim that she, by virgin birth, would produce the second Jesus Christ. Her abdomen began to swell and so did the crowds of people around her. The time for the birth came and passed - she died soon after. An autopsy revealed it had been a false pregnancy.
1836

1843-1844
William Miller was the founder of an end-times movement that was so prominent it received its own name-- Millerism. From his studies of the Bible, Miller determined that the second coming would happen sometime between 1843-1844. A spectacular meteor shower in 1833 gave the movement a good push forward. The build up of anticipation continued until March 21, 1844, when Miller's one year time table ran out. Some followers set another date of Oct 22, 1844. This too failed, collapsing the movement. One follower described the days after the failed predictions, "The world made merry over the old Prophet's predicament. The taunts and jeers of the 'scoffers' were well-nigh unbearable."

1910
The revisit of Haley's comet was, for many, an indication of the Lord's second coming. The earth actually passed through the gaseous tail of the comet. One enterprising man sold comet pills to people for protection against the effects of the toxic gases.
1914
was one of the more important estimates of the start of the war of Armageddon by the Jehovah's Witnesses (Watchtower Bible and Tract Society). They computed 1914 from prophecy in the book of Daniel, Chapter 4. The writings referred to "seven times". The WTS interpreted each "time" as equal to 360 days, giving a total of 2520 days. This was further interpreted as representing 2520 years, measured from the starting date of 607 BCE. This gave 1914 as the target date.
1914
Charles Russell, after being exposed to the teachings of William Miller, founded his own organization - the Jehovah's Witnesses. In 1914 Russell predicted the return of Jesus Christ.

Jw’s: Here are other dates that the Watchtower Society predicted. 1975 looked likely as it was computed as the 6000th anniversary of the creation of Adam in the Garden of Eden in 4026 BCE. They interpreted Psalms 90:10 as defining the length of a generation to be 80 years. Since 1914 plus 80 equals 1994, they predicted Armageddon would occur around that year. The latest estimate was 6000 years after the creation of Eve, for which no date can be determined with any accuracy.

1925
The Witnesses had no better luck in 1925. They already possessed the title of most wrong predictions. They would expand upon it in the years to come.
1953-AUG:
David Davidson wrote a book titled "The Great Pyramid, Its Divine Message". In it, he predicted that the world would end in 1953-AUG.
1957-APR:
The Watchtower magazine, quoted (1) a pastor from California, Mihran Ask, as saying in 1957-JAN that "Sometime between April 16 and 23, 1957, Armageddon will sweep the world! Millions of persons will perish in its flames and the land will be scorched.'
1960:
Piazzi Smyth, a past astronomer royal of Scotland, wrote a book circa 1860 titled "Our Inheritance in the Great Pyramid." It was responsible for spreading the belief in pyramidology throughout the world. This is the belief that secrets are hidden in the dimensions of the great pyramids. He concluded from his research that the millennium would start before the end of 1960.
1967
When the city of Jerusalem was reclaimed by the Jews in 1967, prophecy watchers declared that the "Time of the Gentiles" had come to an end.
1970’s
This 1970’s tract says: "very likely going to happen in the very near future" Ron Reese
1970's:
The late Moses David (formerly David Berg) was the founder of the Christian religious group, The Children of God. He predicted that a comet would hit the earth, probably in the mid 1970's and destroy all life in the United States.
1970
The True Light Church of Christ made its claim to fame by incorrectly forecasting the return of Jesus. A number of church members had quit their livelihoods ahead of the promised advent.
1973
A comet that turned out to be a visual disappointment, nonetheless, compelled one preacher to announce that it would be a sign of the Lord's return.
1975
The Jehovah's Witnesses were back at it in 1975. The failure of the forecast did not affect the growth of the movement. The Watchtower magazine, a major Witness periodical, has over 13 million subscribers.

1981
Lindsey boldly declared that "The Rapture" would occur before Dec. 31, 1981, based on Christian prophesy, astronomy and a dash of ecological fatalism. He pegged the date to Jesus' promised to return to Earth a generation after Israel's rebirth. He also made references to the "Jupiter Effect," a planetary alignment that occurs every 179 years, that would supposedly lead to earthquakes and nuclear plant meltdowns.

1982
It was all going to end in 1982, when the planets lined up and created magnetic forces that would bring Armageddon to the earth.
"Scientists are forecasting that soon our solar system will experience some unique and sobering events. This forecast concerning 1982 comes from the scientific investigations of astronomers and is in no way related to astrology and fortune telling. The news is quoted from the September 16, 1974 edition of "Newsweek" magazine, science section. These are the conclusions of John Gribbin, science editor of "Nature" magazine, and of Stephen Plagemann of NASA's Goddard Space Center in Maryland. These reputable scientists are pointing out that in the latter part of 1982 there will take place an event unique in our solar system. At that time all nine planets will be on the same side of the sun. That happens once every 179 years, but in 1982 the nine planets will not only be on the same side of the sun, but in perfect alignment. "Newsweek" referred to this situation as "An Apocalyptic Prediction:' In the book that these men have co-authored, "The Jupiter Effect", they point out that, just as the moon affects earth tides by its gravitational pull, so do the planets affect each other, and particularly Jupiter, because of its great size. This has been linked to the earthquake frequency on our planet earth. What will happen when all the planets come into one line and exert a united gravitational pull on our earth? These scientists speak of eight probable effects: 1) A disturbed magnetic activity in the sun, producing huge firestorms; 2) That the ionosphere of earth will be changed; 3) That radio and television communications will be disrupted; 4) That there will be weird lighting effects from aurora borealis; 5) There will be vast changes in wind patterns; 6) Rainfall and temperature patterns will change; 7) Earth's rotation, and the length of the days may change; 8) Many earthquakes will occur. "There will be many earthquakes, large and small... and one region where one of the greatest fault systems lies today, under great strain, long overdue for a giant leap forward, and just waiting for the necessary kick, is California." This is the frightening, apocalyptic vision of the scientists as quoted in "Newsweek." (Evangelical Tract Distributors, Edmonton, Alta., Canada)"
1982
A group called the Tara Centers placed full-page advertisements in many major newspapers for the weekend of April 24-25, 1982, announced: "The Christ is Now Here!" and predicted that he was to make himself known "within the next two months." After the date passed, they said that the delay was only because the "consciousness of the human race was not quite right..." Boy, all these years and we're still not ready.
1984
The Jehovah's Witnesses made sure in 1984 that no one else would be able to top their record of most wrong doomsday predictions. The Witnesses record is currently holding at nine. The years are: 1874, 1878, 1881, 1910, 1914, 1918, 1925, 1975, and 1984. Lately, the JW's are claiming they're out of the prediction business, but it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. They'll be back.
1984 to 1999:
In 1983, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, Guru of the Rajneesh movement predicted massive destruction on earth, including natural disasters and man-made catastrophes. Floods larger than any since Noah, extreme earthquakes, very destructive volcano eruptions, nuclear wars etc. will be experienced. Tokyo, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Bombay will all disappear.
1986:
Moses David of The Children of God faith group predicted that the Battle of Armageddon would take place in 1986. Russia would defeat Israel and the United States. A worldwide Communist dictatorship would be established. In 1993, Christ would return to earth.
1987
The Harmonic Convergence planned for Aug. 16-17, 1987, and several New Age events were to occur at that time. The second coming of the serpent god of peace and the Hopi dance awakening were two examples.
1988
The book "88 Reasons Why the Rapture is in 1988" came out only a few months before the event was to take place. What little time the book had, it used effectively. By the time Sept 11-13 rolled around, whole churches were caught up in the excitement the book generated. I personally had friends who were measuring themselves for wings. In the dorm where we lived, my friends were also openly confronting all of the unsaved. It became my job to defuse to situations. In one case, an accosted sinner was contemplating dispensary action against my now distant friends. Finally, the days of destiny dawned and then set. No Jesus. The environment was not the same as Miller's 1844 failure. To my surprise, the taunting by the unsaved was very brief. I took it that people have very little understanding of the Bible, so they had nothing to taunt my friends with. I made one other interesting observation. The time for the rapture was a 3 day window from Sept 11 to the 13 - my friends had given up hope on the morning of 12. I pointed out that they still had 2 days left, but they had been spooked nonetheless.

1990's:
In 1992, David Koresh of the Branch Davidian group in Waco Texas changed the name of their commune from Mt. Carmel to Ranch Apocalypse, because of his belief that the final all-encompassing battle of Armageddon mentioned in the Bible would start at the Branch Davidian compound. They had calculated that the end would occur in 1995. After a 51-day standoff, on 1993-APR-10, 76 members died as a result of a deliberately set fire.

A Korean group called Mission For The Coming Days had the Korea Church a buzz in the fall of 1992. They foresaw Oct 28, 1992 as the time for the Rapture. Numerology was the basis for the date. Several camera shots that left ghostly images on pictures was thought to be a supernatural confirmation of the date.

Oct. 28, 1992, Rapture; Full page ad in USA Today, on Oct. 20, 1991, placed by the Hyoo-go (Rapture) movement. EP News service quoted one sect, "50 million people will die in earthquakes, 50 million from collapsed buildings, 1.4 billion from World War III and 1.4 billion from a separate Armageddon." "Some argue that nobody will know the coming of Jesus because the Bible says He will come as a thief. However, be alert, for He will come as a thief only to those who live in darkness, not to those who are in the light." The tract then quotes 1 Thessalonians 5;2,4 and Revelation 3:3 as proof for this assertion. Questions: Am I now "in the light" because I now "know" (??) it will be October 1992? Did the Thessalonians know this? What if an atheist read this tract? Ridiculous, isn't it!!! Our anonymous author continues. Jesus "knows and has revealed to thousands already!"
1993
If the year 2000 is the end of the 6000 year cycle, then the rapture must take place in 1993, because you would need 7 years of the tribulation. This was the thinking of a number of prophecy writers.
1994
In the book "1994 the Year of Destiny" F. M. Riley foretold of God's plan to rapture His people. The name of his ministry is The Last Call and he operates out of Missouri.

Pastor John Hinkle of Christ Church Los Angels caused quite a stir when he announced he had received a vision for God that warned of apocalyptic event on June 9th, 1994. Hinkle, quoting God, said, "On Thursday June the 9th, I will rip the evil out of this world." At the time, I knew Hinkle's vision didn't match up with scripture. From a proper reading of Bible prophecy, the only thing that God could possible rip from the earth would be the Christian Church, and I don't think God would refer to the Church as "evil." Some people tried to reinterpret the Hinkle's unscriptural vision to mean that God would the rip evil out of our hearts when he raptured us. Well, the date came and went with no heart surgery or rapture.
1994
Harold Camping in his book "Are You Ready?" predicted the Lord's return in Sept 1994. The book was full of numerology that added up to 1994 as the date of Christ's return.

After promising themselves they would not make any more end time predictions, the Jehovah's Witnesses fell off the wagon and proclaimed 1994 as the conclusion of an 80 year generation - the year 1914 was the starting point.

John Hinkle On Trinity Broadcasting Network quote: "The most cataclysmic experience that the world has ever known sine the resurrection is going to happen." Armageddon Delayed! Jw’s
In early November 1995 Jehovah's Witnesses made newspaper headlines around the world. This time it was not a record crowd at a stadium convention or even a controversial blood transfusion case that attracted international attention, but the postponement of the End. One headline read: "
Armageddon Not Coming ," and the related article stated that Jehovah's Witnesses had announced that "Armageddon [had] been delayed and [that] the end of the world [was] no longer nigh." (Victoria Times-Colonist, Sunday 12 November 1995, p. A2) click here for full details1996
This had a special month, according to one author. He foresaw the month of Sept as the time for our Lord's return. The Church Age will last 2000 years from the time of Christ's birth in 4 BC.

California psychic Sheldon Nidle predicted the end would come when 16 million space ships converged upon the Earth on Dec. 17, 1996, along with a host of angels. Nidle explained the passing of the date by claiming the angles placed us in a holographic projection to preserve us and give us a second chance.

1996-OCT-23:
Since 1658, many Christians have accepted the calculations of James Ussher, an Irish archbishop, who estimated that the first day of creation occurred on 4004-OCT-23 BCE. This would make the time interval between the creation of the world and a common estimate of the birth of Christ to be precisely 4000 years. Some people believe that Ussher fudged the data to make it come out neatly. He also estimated that the end of the world would occur exactly 6000 years later, in the fall of 1996.
1997
In regard to 1997, I've received several e-mail messages that pointed to a date when Jesus will return for his church. Two of the more widely known time frames was Monte Judah's FEB/MAR tribulation start and a May 14 rapture which was based on numerology and the Psalms.
1997
When Rabin and Arafat signed their peace pact on the White House lawn on Sept 13, 1993, some saw the events as the begin of tribulation. With signing of the peace agreement Daniel's 1260 day countdown was underway. By Adding 1260 days to Sept, 1993; you get Feb 24, 1997.
1997
Stan Johnson of the Prophecy Club saw a 90 percent chance that the tribulation would start Sept 12, 1997. He bases his conclusion on several end-time signs. The date of September 12 was chosen by Johnson because it will be Jesus' 2000th birthday and it will also be the day of atonement, although not what is currently the Jewish Day of Atonement. Further supporting evidence came from Romanian pastor Dumitru Duduman. In several heavenly visions, Dumitru claimed to had seen the book of life. In one of his earlier visions, there were several pages yet to be completed. In his last vision he noticed the book of life only had one page left. Doing some rough calculating, Johnson and friends figured the latest time frame for the completion of the book of life would have to be September 1997.
1997 or early 1998:
The 1997-JUL-29 issue of the Weekly World News carried a statement by a spokesperson of the International Association of Psychics. 92% of their 120,000 members have had the same "end time" vision. Spokesperson Madame Vredeau predicts: A rise in religious belief. Prophets and saints will appear and lead the faithful to safety The oceans will shrink. Deserts expand. Crops will fail; there will be massive starvation Widespread emotional and mental collapse; increase in crime and violence Changing weather patterns; basic laws of nature will be disrupted Satanic demons will appear in broad daylight. War, pestilence, a worldwide plague Mankind will disappear around the year 2001 CE.
1997-1999
Russian scientist Vladimir Sobolyovhas of the Rerikh Academy has analyzed prophesies made by Russian saints, by Nostradamus etc. (6) He announced his conclusions in1997-SEP: that the earth's axis will suddenly tilt about 30 degrees sometime during the next two years. This will submerge the Scandinavian countries and Britain under water, in what is termed the Armageddon Flood. Siberia will be spared. He expects that aliens will intervene and lead the world into the fourth dimension. Right now, these aliens are on earth, but in hiding. Sobolyovhas said: "If we completely believed in them, we would get lazy. So they are clever. They stay hidden in the fourth dimension and only show themselves from time to time.''

1997-APR-10:
Dan Millar, of Surrey, BC, Canada and Bob Wadsworth of the Biblical Astronomy newsletter are two religious researchers. They are following the age-old tradition of looking for signs in the heavens for the arrival of the Antichrist, return of Christ, etc. Ancient prophecies told of heavenly events and even a cross in the sky in advance of momentous developments. Millar and Wadsworth have predicted the arrival of the Antichrist on APR-10. Dan suggested that we watch news from the Vatican and from Jerusalem on that day, because he expects some sort of coup by the Antichrist. He is expected to come to power in the Vatican as Pope Peter II. One heavenly indicator is the intersection by two comets of the star Algol in the constellation Perseus. Comets Hyakutake and Hale-Bopp intersected the star on the same date (APR-11) on two adjacent years (Hyakutake in 1996 and Hale-Bopp in 1997). Plotting the two comets' trajectories over the period APR-1 to APR-30 on the two years forms an almost perfect cross. They intersect between the eyes of the Medusa head that Perseus is holding in his left hand. "Algol" means "Demon Star" in Arabic. The head is known as Rosh Satan (the head of Satan) in Hebrew. There will be one further heavenly sign: on the evening of APR-10, there will be a lunar occultation of the star Aldebaran in the constellation Taurus.
1997-DEC-31:
The 1997-JUL-29 issue of the Weekly World News reported that the biggest end of the world scare since the Cuban missile crisis was circulating through Washington. President Clinton called a secret meeting with leading Bible scholars for the week of JUL-27. A confidential Pentagon memo sparked the scare; it predicts a worldwide cataclysm of unprecedented proportions. Earthquake activity is on a rise and will peak at year-end; the earth's crust is shifting ominously.
1997-MAR-8:
The Vortex of the Star of David religious sect of Luskville, Quebec was quoted (2) as predicting the end of the world on Saturday, MAR-8. A father, Jean Leon Marcoux, was interviewed; he was worried because his children will be visiting their mother at the sect's commune on that weekend. He approached the Quebec police but was unable to get them to take any action. A spokesperson for the sect stated that they do not have a doomsday scenario.
1997-NOV-27:
The Sacerdotal Knights of National Security report that "A space alien captured at a UFO landing site in eastern Missouri cracked under interrogation by the CIA and admitted that an extraterrestrial army will attack Earth on November 27 with the express purpose of stripping our planet of every natural resource they can find a use for -- and making slaves of every man, woman and child in the world!"
1997-OCT-20
A Jewish group, called theTemple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement were expected to attempt to place the cornerstone of a new temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. This is a small piece of real estate that is the most sacred spot in the world to Jews, and one of the most sacred to Muslims. The Rapture Readyhome page has predicted that the "Tribulation" would be triggered by that event. Previous attempts had failed either because of riots, or police action. There was one report that they were going to try to airlift the stone by helicopter this time. On OCT-20, several thousand police officers were deployed throughout Jerusalem; they successfully prevented access to the Temple Mount.

1998
A Taiwanese cult operating out of Garland Texas predicted Christ would return on Mar 31 of 1998. The group's leader, Heng-ming Chen, announced God would return, and then invite the cult members aboard a UFO. The group abandoned their second coming prediction when a precursor event failed to take place. The cult's leader said God would appear on every channel 18 of every TV in the world. Maybe God realized at the last minute, the Playboy Network was channel 18 on several cable systems, and he didn't want to have Christians watching a porn channel.
1998
On Apr 30, 1998 - when Israel will be age 50 - The tribulation could start. The reasoning for this date has to do with God's age requirement for priesthood, which is between 30-50.
1998
Marilyn Agee in her book "The End of the Age" has her sights set on May 31, 1998. This date will conclude the 6000 year cycle from the time of Adam. Agee looks for the Rapture to take place on Pentecost also known as the feast of weeks. Another indicator is the fact that the Holy Spirit did not descend upon the until 50 days from Christ's resurrection before descending on the Church. Israel was born in 1948, add the 50 days and you come up with 1998. If this prophecy fails, numerology will mark itself as one of the most unreliable method of foretelling and yet the most repeated. After her May 31 rapture date failed, Agee, lacking the ability to face up to her error, continued her date setting by using various scripture references to pointing to June 7, 14, and 21.
1998:
Centro
is a very active religious organization, largely centered in the Philippines. They predict that the world will come to an end in 1998. They recommend that their followers retreat to safe places.1998:
The famous psychic Edgar Cayce predicted that a secret, underground chamber would be discovered between the paws of the Great Sphinx. Inside, there will be documents revealing the history of Atlantis. This revelation will trigger the Second Coming of Christ. This prediction is rather interesting, because two independent studies have revealed that there is in fact an underground structure just where Cayce said it would be!
1998-FEB-26:
Edgar Casey predicted that the earth would have a new pole during the winter of 1997-1998. Since the earth spins like a gyroscope, this would take an enormous amount of energy to achieve. That amount of energy would cause a massive disruption to the oceans and the earth's crust. That could, in turn, cause very serious, worldwide tidal waves, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
1998-JUL-5
The Church of the Subgenius predicts that on "X Day", the end of the world will occur. At that time, "the Men from Planet X, or XISTS, will arrive on Earth, close a deal with "Bob," rupture the card-carrying Ordained SubGenii up to the Escape Vessels of the Sex Goddesses, and destroy the remaining population of Earth, VERY VERY SLOWLY." Bob is J.R. Dobbs, leader and High Epopt of the Church of the SubGenius, Living Avatar of Slack, the Saint of Sales. He was responsible for founding the Church on a shifting, sandy beach of hypocrisy."
1998-MAR-31:
About 150 followers of a Taiwanese Christian-Buddhist spiritual sect have moved into Garland TX (a suburb in northern Dallas) to await God's arrival. On MAR-25, God is expected to broadcast a commercial on Channel 18 in Garland. He will then be reincarnated into a man on MAR-31 at 10:00 AM, local time. They expect to draw a crowd of about one million who want to be touched by God. Their leader, Hoh-Ming Chen, selected Garland because it sounds like "God land". News reports from Taiwan indicated that the group plans to commit mass suicide if God does not appear. These appear to be unfounded.
1998-OCT
The House of Yahweh, Abilene (™) predicts that an end-of-world scenario will start during 1998-OCT. By mid-2001, they predict that 80% of the world's population will have been killed as a result of nuclear warfare.
1999

1999 - Sept - 30: Second Coming of Jesus Christ predicted by Kirk Nelson using Edgar Cayce's Predictions in correlation with the Christian Bible.
1999:
Hon-Ming Chen has founded God's Salvation Church in Texas. The group believes that a nuclear war will destroy parts of Earth in 1999. They have identified a nine-year old boy as the "Jesus of the East", a reincarnation of Jesus Christ. They believe that if they can link him up with the "Jesus of the West" then 100 million lives will be spared. The second Jesus is supposed to live in Vancouver BC, look like Abraham Lincoln, and have been born in late 1969. Their search was unsuccessful.
1999-AUG-11 etc.:
The WWW site CALENdeRsign® lists a number of astronomical events that will happen as the millennium closes. There has always been an association between such alignments and momentous events in the mind of the public. Starting in late 1999, the following will be observed: 1999-AUG-11: total solar eclipse; visible from Europe 2000-JAN-21: total lunar eclipse; visible in Europe and US 2000-APR: Triple planetary conjunction involving Mars, Jupiter & Saturn 2000-MAY: "Great Conjunction" of Jupiter and Saturn. This also occurred in 7 BCE and is thought by some to be the star that some of the Gospels mentioned as leading the three wise men to Jesus.
1999-AUG-11:
According to the 1997-MAY-27 issue of Sun Magazine, the Anti-Christ is alive today and living in the Middle East. On AUG-11, the time of an eclipse of the sun, he will make himself known to the world. "It will be the ultimate war." Many will perish, and their souls will travel to Heaven or Hell, depending upon which side that they supported during the conflict.
1999-AUG-6:
According to the latest interpretation of Biblical prophecy by the Branch Davidian sect, 5 months of major torment will begin as the sixth seal is fulfilled.
1999-DEC-19:
Sun Magazine
listed a prediction of "Bible expert" Dotson Meade. He predicts that "something will happen that brings about the war which will end the world as we know it... There will be a vicious cycle of storms and earthquakes that lead to the final battle the world has awaited." This date was derived from information in the Dead Sea Scrolls.1999-JAN:
According to the 1997-JUN-24 issue of Sun Magazine Pope John XXIII predicted in 1962 that visitors from outer space will arrive in chariots of flaming steel and will share their advanced knowledge with humanity. Our life span will be increased to 150 years or longer. Most diseases will be wiped out.

The House of Yahweh
A former kibbutz worker named Jacob — now Yisrael — Hawkins started the House of Yahweh, a group that prophesies that the end of the world will arrive very soon if the laws of Yahweh set down in the Bible are not universally obeyed, and the temple in Jerusalem not rebuilt to lie side by side with the Dome of the Rock Mosque. Hawkins has about 3,000 followers who believe he will announce the second coming of Jesus before being murdered by Satan. (Apocalypse Really Soon: ABC news, Jan 5, 1999)1999
Concerned Christians
This group, whose members were ordered deported from Israel, was started by Monte Kim Miller, who used to run an anti-cult network in Denver. People who know the cult say Miller believes he is the last prophet on Earth before Armageddon. Miller, who reportedly believed he talked to God each morning before he went to work, was said to claim that America was Satan and the government evil. Miller has predicted he will die on the streets of Jerusalem in December 1999 but will rise from the dead three days later. (Apocalypse Really Soon: ABC news, Jan 5, 1999)2000
Sukyo Mahikari
A secretive Japanese group said by former members to spread a neo-Nazi, anti-Semitic dogma, it has established itself as a charitable organization in England. A group leaflet says as the year 2000 approaches, "mankind might be annihilated by the baptism of fire." Similar language turned up in Aum Shinrikyo materials. Aum Shinrikyo was the cult famous for the deadly sarin gas attack in Tokyo. A spokesman for Sukyo Mahikiri has denied the cult is linked to Aum Shinrikyo or that it is anti-Semitic. (Apocalypse Really Soon: ABC news, Jan 5, 1999)2000
Elohim City
In the Cookson Hills of eastern Oklahoma lies the fortress-town of Elohim City, where about 100 heavily armed inhabitants work, pray and conduct paramilitary drills. A former Mennonite preacher named Robert Millar, 73, who envisions a white Christian nation in North America, runs Elohim City in anticipation of an Asiatic invasion of the United States, an attack he considers inevitable. Millar, inspired by fundamentalist Christianity, KKK-style racism and astrology, believes that Christ has been revealing himself for the last two millennia. He also preaches that a series of disasters is about to strike, probably soon after the year 2000, during which time the unworthy and wicked will be cleansed from the Earth. Convicted Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh phoned friends of his in Elohim City before the blast. (Apocalypse Really Soon: ABC news, Jan 5, 1999)2000

2000
The names of the people and organizations that have called for the return of Christ, at the turn of the century, is too long to be listed here. I would say that if there is day that Christ cannot come back on, it must be Jan 1, 2000. To come at an unknown time means an unknown time. I think Jan 2, 2000 would be a more likely day for Him to call His Church home - right after the big let down.
2000
On May 5, 2000, all the planets are supposed to be in alignment. This will cause the earth to suffer earthquakes, volcanic eruption, and various other nasty stuff. A similar alignment occurred in 1982 and nothing happened. People fail to realize that the other 9 planets only exert a very tiny gravitation pull on the earth. If you were to add up the gravitational force from the rest of the planets, the total would be only amount to fraction of the tug the moon has on the earth.
2000:
Michael Drosnin, author of "The Bible Code," found a hidden message in the Pentateuch (the first five books in the Bible) that predicts that World War III, involving a worldwide atomic [sic] holocaust, will start in 2000 (or perhaps 2006).
2000-2001
Dr. Dale SumburËru looks for March 22, 1997, to be "the date when all the dramatic events leading through the tribulation to the return of Christ should begin" The actual date of Christ's return could be somewhere between July 2000 and Mar 2001. Dr. SumburËru is more general about the time of the Christ's second coming than most writers. He states, "The day the Lord returns is currently unknown because He said [Jesus] these days are cut short and it is not yet clear by how much and in what manner they are cut short. If the above assumptions are not correct, my margin of error would be in weeks, or perhaps months."

2000-DEC-25:
According to the 1997-JUN-24 issue of Sun Magazine Pope John XXIII predicted in 1962 that Christ would appear in the sky over New York City. He will announce the creation of a 1000-year paradise, to be proceeded by six months of great sorrow.
2000-JAN-1:
According to the 1997-JUN-24 issue of Sun Magazine Pope John XXIII predicted in 1961 that Doomsday will begin with the detonation of an atomic bomb in a major European city by a Libyan terrorist group. This will trigger a massive six-month war that will cause the deaths of millions of people.
2000-JAN-1:
William Cooper, head of a militia group in St.
2000-JAN-11:
According to Weekly World News of 1997-NOV-18, the CIA has caught a space alien who had crash-landed on JUN-20 in a New Mexico desert.
2000-MAY-31:
The Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in front of Taurus and the coming back of the Star of Bethlehem like 7.B.C. Some people expect a supernatural event comparable to the birth of Jesus.
2000-SEP-21:
Dan Millar, mentioned above, estimates this date as that of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
2001
Jack Van Impe Ministries sponsors the largest Evangelical Christian program devoted to end-time prophecy. (That would take a sudden growth spurt; Islam is currently followed by 19% of the world's population vs 33% for Christianity). A one-world church will emerge; it will be "controlled by demonic hosts." Temple rituals (presumably including animal sacrifice) will resume in Israel.
2001
Because there was no year 0, the true millennium will not start until Jan 1, 2001. Most prophetic watchers still have their sights set on 2000. If the date passes uneventful, I'm sure they'll realize their error and refocus on this year.
2001:
Charles Spiegel, a retired psychology professor, preaches from a small town near San Diego CA that the ancient land of Atlantis will emerge from the Caribbean circa 2001 CE. Shortly thereafter, 1000 extra-terrestrials from "Myton" in 33 spaceships will land there and bring new knowledge to humanity.

Sun Magazine
reported in its 1997-OCT-14 issue that Noah's Ark has been discovered intact in undamaged form on a slope near Mount Ararat in Turkey. Inside were a group of 6 copper-gold-silver scrolls, each 12" square. Scroll 2 reveals that the sun will superheat the earth, melting both polar ice caps, and creating a world-wide flood. Scroll 3 reveals that Doomsday is set for 2001-JAN-31. Good people who repent of their sins will be saved; cruel tyrants will be cast into the burning fires of Hell.2004
This date for Jesus' return is based upon Psalmology, numerology, the biblical 360 days per year, Jewish holidays, and "Biblical astronomy." To figure out this date you'll need a calculator, a slide rule, and plenty of scratch paper.
2004:
Arnie Stanton noted on 1997-SEP-16 that that evening was the fourth Jewish festival since 1996-APR-3 on which a lunar eclipse occurred. (7) He quotes Luke 21:25-26 which mentions "signs in the sun, in the moon and in the stars and on the earth distress of nations" He believes that "these recent lunar eclipses are the last known astronomical signs that will preceed a 7 year (360 day/year) countdown to Armageddon/Christ's return to the Earth." He expects that Christ's return will occur within a few months of 2004-SEP-29 when Asteroid Toutatis will make a very close approach to the Earth - perhaps even a collision!

New Age writers cite Mayan and Aztec calendars which predict the end of the age on Dec 21, 2012.
2012:
Michael Drosnin, author of "The Bible Code," found a hidden message in the Pentateuch (the first five books in the Bible) that predicts that a comet will crash into the earth in 2012 and annihilate all life.

The Mayan calendar has many divisions of time: months of 20 days, years of 360 days, katun of 7200 days and a baktun of 144,000 days. Their calendar started on 3114-AUG-13 BCE with the birth of Venus. They expected the world to last for exactly 13 baktun cycles. They anticipated the end of the world near the Winter Solstice of 2012. (3)

An article in Weekly World News describes a find by a Professor Lloyd Cunningdale of Salt Lake City who was excavating with his students at the site of the famous Donner party disaster of 1847. (4)

According to The Church of !BLAIR!, the human race will probably be terminated at 3:28 AM (Soho, En
gland time) 2047, SEP. 14!. The church teaches, with tongue firmly in cheek, that if the human race does not discard their plastic conformity, then the Gods will withdraw their protectio n. The Gods don't want us to worship them; they don't want sacrifices or even offerings. They just want us to rid itself of our excessive "Normalcy". At that point, Astro-Lemurs (extra-terrestrials similar in shape to lemurs, but with rainbow colored bodies) will attack the entire human race and beat them to death with gigantic burritos. You have been warned. ;-)soon
Jerry Falwell
"In a speech about the concern people have over the new millennium, The Rev. Jerry Falwell said the Antichrist is probably alive today and is a male Jew. Falwell also told about 1,500 people at a conference in Kingsport, Tenn., on Thursday that he believes the second coming of Christ probably will be within 10 years. Order of the Solar Temple
Since 1994, more than 74 members of the Order have committed suicide in Canada, Switzerland and France, leaving behind rumors of gunrunning in Australia and money laundering in Canada and Europe. Whether the group is a cold-blooded hoax that milks its victims of their money and then disposes of them or a more "genuine" suicide cult remains unclear. The Order was founded in 1977 by Luc Jouret, then 30, a Belgian born in Zaire who believed he was a third reincarnation of Jesus Christ and that his daughter Emmanuelle, whom he said was immaculately conceived, was the cosmic child. Although he killed himself, the Order still exists. The cult teaches that life is an illusion and after death followers will be reborn on a planet revolving around the dog star Sirius. Church of the Final Testament
Started in the early 1990s by a former Russian police sergeant named Sergei Torop who was dismissed from the force after he had a series of religious visions, the group holds particular fascination for former Communist Party members. Torop, who took the name Vissarion, rejects prohibitions on suicide. He tells his followers he is Jesus Christ, and looks the part with flowing dark hair and wispy beard. Currently building a "City of the Sun" on Siberia’s Mount Sukhaya, the Vissarionites are estimated to be the largest cult-like group in Russia with thousands of followers. Russian politicians have recently warned that the Church members may commit mass suicide as the millennium approaches. (Apocalypse Really Soon: ABC news, Jan 5, 1999)soon!

Unlike those daring prophets that set a date or time window for the End, many doomsayers hedge their bets by not gambling on a particular date, but instead merely insist that the end is coming SOON! This of course renders their prophecies untestable, but at the same time scary enough to bamboozle the gullible into believing them. SOON! has a nebulous quality about it: it could mean tomorrow, next year, or even a million yeas from now, long after the prophet and his followers are no longer around to lose face.
Such prophets are too numerous to list in their entirety, so I will just include some of the more notable, off-beat and interesting ones here.
Person or Group Commentary Aetherius Society The UFO cult known as the Aetherius Society believes that a Great Avatar or Cosmic Master will arrive by spaceship SOON! to usher in a New Age. The message was supposedly channelled to cult founder Sir George King on November 23, 1958, by an alien called Lord of Karma. Mary Bateman Mary Bateman (aka the Yorkshire Witch) was a famed English fortune teller and con artist of the early 19th century. One of her most unusual scams involved a magic hen which laid magic eggs bearing end-time prophecies. She charged her victims -- I mean "clients" -- a penny (equivalent to several bucks nowadays) to see her magic chicken. One prophecy caused a lot of commotion: on the egg was written a message that Jesus was coming SOON! Unfortunately for Mary, the scam was exposed when she was caught shoving an egg up the chicken's you-know-what. In 1808, Mary was hanged for poisioning some of her clients. Even after her death she was still involved in scamming, in a manner of speaking: pieces of her skin were sold as charms to fend off evil. Jim Jones Jim Jones, founder of the People's Temple, started out his ministry giving hope to the disaffected and downtrodden of American society. He was a recipient of many humantiarian awards, and was even given a position in the San Francisco city government. Unfortunately, he grew more and more paranoid as the years went by, and was haunted by a vision of nuclear war that he had had in his youth. Soon he was affected by delusions of godhood. Many people left his cult disillusioned, and his list of critics and enemies grew. Increasingly paranoid and delusional, Jones led his remaining die-hard followers to Guyana, where he was convinced he and his flock would survive the global nuclear holocaust he was certain would happen SOON! Even in Jonestown, the colony he built, some followers became fearful of Jones's increasing madness. When a number of them tried to flee the country, five people, including a visiting US congressman, were gunned down by Jones's thugs. Jones, knowing that the US government would come after them for the murders, ordered his followers to drink cyanide-laced Kool-Aid on November 18, 1978. Over 900, including Jones, died and only a handful survived to tell the hair-raising tale. This is so far the worst tragedy related to the late 20th century's bout with millennial madness. Old Believers A group that splintered off from the Russian Orthodox Church in the 17th century, the Old Believers of Russia held apocalyptic beliefs that bore a frightening parallel to the People's Temple and the Order of the Solar Temple cults of recent history. They believed that by committing mass suicide, they could postpone the Apocalypse, which was coming SOON! Thousands of Old Believers burned themselves to death over the years. (Kyle p.69) Ronald Reagan Ronald Reagan, in a 1980 interview with Jim Bakker, said, "We may be the generation that sees Armageddon." Before that, in 1971, Reagan commented to James Mills regarding events in Libya, "For the first time ever, everything is in place for the Battle of Armageddon and the Second Coming of Christ." Obviously, Reagan thought that the end would come SOON! And to think that a man with apocalyptic delusions like this had his finger on the nuclear button for 8 years. (Grosso p.8) Girolamo Savonarola 15th century Dominican friar Girolamo Savonarola, sensing moral decay in society, began preaching that the end was near and it was time for the people of Florence to repent. "The sword of the Lord will descend on the Earth swiftly and SOON!", he prophesied. Savonarola saw the invading armies of Charles VIII, King of France (who was living in his own apocalyptic fantasyland), as a prophetic Flood and convinced the Florentine people that if they surrendered to the French, they would become God's elect. (Gotta love that logic!) Not long after the French occupied Florence, Savonarola declared that Florence, not Rome, was favored in the eyes of God. This didn't go over too well with the Catholic establishment. By 1495, the French occupation had crumbled and popular support for Savonarola was waning. Savonarola was captured and publicly executed in 1498. (Thompson p.79-80, Weber p.59) Seneca The Roman philosopher Seneca believed that the end would arrive SOON! He wrote, "All we see and admire today will burn in the universal fire that ushers in a new, just, happy world." In 79 AD, 14 years after Seneca's death, Mount Vesuvius erupted, destroying Pompeii and its environs -- an event that was seen by many Romans as a sign that the fires of the End were near. (Weber p.38) James Watt James Watt, Secretary of the Interior under the Reagan administration, felt that there was no need to protect the environment because the end was coming SOON! In 1981, he told a Congressional committee, "I don't know how many future generations we can count on until the Lord returns." It is indeed frightening that such a man could be appointed to a cabinet post. (Weber p.202) Isaac Watts Isaac Watts (1674-1748), prolific hymn writer and author, is famous as the composer of the Christmas carol Joy to the World. Not many are aware, however, that the lyrics are actually about the Second Coming, not the birth of Christ. Watts, who wrote numerous theological books, including the premillennialist work The End of Time, was certain that the end would come SOON! (McIver #261)

Predicted date Commentary Early 21st Century Legend has it that, in 1143, St. Malachy prophesied that there would only be 112 more popes left before the end of the world. Pope Benedict is the 111th, which means that the world will end in the early 21st century. According to Malachy, the last pope will be named Peter of Rome. Time will tell. (Skinner p.74-75) Oct 15, 2005 In an earlier posting, Ted Porter calculated that the Second Advent will happen on this date. Oct 17, 2004 Clay Cantrell puts the dimensions of Noah's Ark through some contorted mathematics to arrive at this day as the date of the Rapture. Oct 18, 2005 The beginning of Christ's Millennium, according to Tom Stewart in his book 1998: Year of the Apocalypse. The Rapture was to take place on May 31, 1998, and the Parousia on October 13, 2005. (McIver #3226) Nov 11, 2005 A man named Kjell Wrengsted emailed me, claiming that the 7-year Tribulation started on November 11, 1998, when the Israeli cabinet approved the Wye River Agreement. 2006 - An atomic holocaust started by Syria is to take place between the years 2000 and 2006, according to Michael Drosnin's book The Bible Codes (O'Shea p.178). Here's an excerpt from Drosnin's discredited book: "I checked 'World War' and 'atomic holocaust' against all three ways to write each Hebrew year for the next 120 years. Out of 360 possible matches for each of the two expressions, only two years matched both - 5760 and 5766, in the modern calendar the years 2000 and 2006. Rips later checked the statistics for the matches of 'World War' and 'atomic holocaust' with those two years and agreed that the results were 'exceptional.'"
- The British cult The Family believes the end will come in 2006.
Feb 12, 2006 According to an unnamed Internet prophet, this will be the date of the height of the Antichrist's power. The Antichrist is none other than Prince William of England! (This guy's website breaks an inordinate number of web design taboos. Prepare to be annoyed!) 2007 - The unnamed author of www.geocities.com/secondcoming1 suggests 2007 as the year of the Second Coming and the end of the world. He (she?) marks the Sharm Memorandum signed by Israel and the Palestinians on September 5, 1999.
- Everett Vasek claims that Jesus might return between 2000 and 2007.
Apr 29, 2007 In his 1990 book The New Millennium, Pat Robertson suggests this date as the day of Earth's destruction. (Abanes p.138) Aug 2007 Thomas Chase uses an incredible mishmash of Bible prophecy, numerology, Y2K, Bible codes, astrology, Cassini paranoia, Antichrist speculation, news events, New Age mysticism, the shapes of countries, Hale-Bopp nuttiness and more to show that Armageddon will happen around the year 2007, perhaps in August of that year. Sep 13, 2007 The second Rapture, according to Marilyn J. Agee. An asteroid is also supposed to hit the Earth on this day, she claims. (Oropeza p.89) Mar 21, 2008 On this page, the Lord's Witnesses use convoluted numerology to demonstrate that "the end of the world is 2008 March 21st." They also claim that the United Nations will take over the world between March 26 and April 24, 2001, and afterward nobody will be able to buy or sell without the Mark of the Beast! Apr 6, 2008 The beginning of Christ's millennial reign, according to Philip B. Brown. 2009 According to Earth changes prophetess Lori Adaile Toye of the I AM America Foundation, a series of Earth changes beginning in 1992 and ending in 2009 will cause much of the world to be submerged, and only 1/3 of America's population will survive. You can even order a map of the flooded USA from her website! 2010 The final year according to the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. (Shaw p.223) 2011 Another possible date for Earth's entry into the Photon Belt. (See the May 5, 1997 entry) Dec 31, 2011 In an interesting parallel to the Harmonic Convergence concept, Solara Antara Amaa-ra, leader of the "11:11 Doorway" movement, claims that there's a "doorway of opportunity" lasting from January 11, 1992 to December 31, 2011 in which humanity is given the final chance to rid itself of evil and attain a higher level of consciousness, or doom will strike. (Wojcik p.206) 2012 James T. Harmon's Rapture prediction #3. (Oropeza p.89) Dec 21, 2012 Terence McKenna combines Mayan chronology with a New Age pseudoscience called Novelty Theory to conclude that the collision an asteroid or some "trans-dimensional object" with the Earth, or alien contact, or a solar explosion, or the transformation of the Milky Way into a quasar, or some other "ultranovel" event will occur on this day. Anyway, something is supposed to happen, and he has lots of pseudoscientific gobbledygook to back up his thesis. Dec 23, 2012 The world to end, according to the ancient Mayan calendar. (Abanes p.342) 2017 The "Prophet Gabriel" supposedly told the Sword of God Brotherhood that the "dying time" will come in 2017, and only members of the cult will survive. Everyone else will "perish in hellfire." Sep 28, 2020 George Madray predicts a Yom Kippur Parousia in 2020. (McIver #2854) 2022 James T. Harmon's Rapture prediction #4. (Oropeza p.89) 2023 Ian Gurney predicts in his book The Cassandra Prophecy - Armageddon Approaches that the "final date, Judgement Day, the end of mankind's time on this planet, is less than twenty two years away" from 2001, which means that the world is set to end by 2023 at the very latest. The entirety of his website can be seen here. 2025 In this post, Georgann Chenault, a frequent poster on Usenet, wrote "I think the rapture of the church will be before 2025." Nov 13, 2026 According to an article published in Science magazine in 1960, this was the date that the world's population would reach infinity. (Source: Jacksonville.com) 2033 Believed by many to by the 2000th anniversary of the Crucifixion, this is a date just begging to be targeted by doomsayers whose prophecies for 2000 and 2001 will have failed. 2035 The Raëlians are working hard to establish an embassy in Jerusalem in anticipation of the 2035 arrival of aliens called "elohim", who will usher in a New Age. However, their arrival is contingent on the completion of the embassy. (Robbins p.164) 2037 In her book The Call to Glory, psychic Jeane Dixon wrote, "The years 2020-2037, approximately, hail the true Second Coming of Christ." The Battle of Armageddon is to take place in 2020. (Dixon p.170, 172) 2040 - Pyramidologist Max Toth predicts the physical reincarnation of Jesus Christ occurring in 2040. Like other pyramidologists, he used the dimensions of the Great Pyramid's passageways to predict future events. (Weber p.195)
- John Smart of Singularity Watch estimates that a "technological singularity" will take place around the year 2040, when technological advancement reaches asymptotic levels. After this apocalyptic event, a new era of balance and compassion will begin.
ca. 4,500,000,000 AD The sun will swell into a red giant star, swallowing Mercury, Venus, Earth, and perhaps Mars. This will be the true end of the world! -

Predicted date Commentary 1998 - Larry Wilson of Wake Up America Seminars predicted the Second Coming "around 1998". The Tribulation was supposed to start in 1994 or 1995, and during this period an asteroid was to hit the Earth. (Robbins p.220)
- Centro, a religious cult in the Philippines, predicted that the end of the world would come in 1998. (Source: Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance)
- The year of the Rapture, claimed Donald B. Orsden in his book The Holy Bible - The Final Testament: What is the Significance of 666?. "Take your super computers, you scientists, and feed the number 666 into them. The output will be the proof God gives that 1998 is the year Jesus will take the faithful with him...." (McIver #2986)
- In Ominous Portents of the Parousia of Christ, by Henry R. Hall, the author pours vitriol on atheists and liberals while praising Reagan as a "wise man" sent by God for the End Times. An obvious loony, Hall predicts that the world will end in 1998 because, among other reasons, 666 + 666 + 666 = 1998. The Rapture was to take place in 1991. Sorry, Hank! (McIver #2488)
Jan 8, 1998 31 members of a splinter group of the Solar Temple cult headed by German psychologist Heide Fittkau-Garthe were arrested by police on the island of Tenerife, Canary Islands, amid fears that the cultists were planning a mass suicide. They were convinced that the world would end at 8:00 pm on this day, but that the cult members' bodies would be picked up by a space ship. (Hanna p.226 and FACTNet) Mar 8, 1998 A doomsday cult from Karnataka in southern India claimed that much of the world would be destroyed by earthquakes on this day, and the Indian subcontinent would break off and sink into the ocean. After the destruction, Lord Vishnu would appear on Earth. The leaders of the cult claimed that El Nino and the chotic weather that accompanied it was a sign of the coming destruction. Mar 31, 1998 Hon-Ming Chen, leader of the Taiwanese cult God's Salvation Church, or Chen Tao - "The True Way" - claimed that God would come to Earth in a flying saucer at 10:00 am on this date. Moreover, God would have the same physical appearance as Chen himself. On March 25, God was to appear on Channel 18 on every TV set in the US. Chen chose to base his cult in Garland, Texas, because he thought it sounded like "God's Land." (Shermer p.204, McIver #2199) May 31, 1998 - Author Marilyn J. Agee used convoluted Biblical calculations to predict the date of two separate Raptures. In her book The End of the Age, she boldly proclaimed, "I expect Rapture I on Pentecost [May 31] in 1998 and Rapture II on the Feast of Trumpets [September 13] in 2007." (Agee) Her homepage is worth a visit just to see how...how can I put this politely?...interesting these doomsday prophets can be. She just may have another doomsday prediction posted.
- The Rapture, as per Tom Stewart's book 1998: Year of the Apocalypse. (McIver #3226)
Jun 6, 1998 Eli Eshoh uses all sorts of numerical games to show that the Rapture was to take place in 1998. On this page he explains away the apparent failure of the June 6 Rapture, claiming that it did indeed occur, but the number of raptees was small enough not to be noticed. Jun 7, 1998 Marilyn J. Agee's Rapture prediction #2, which she made on her website after the failure of her original prediction. A record of her date revisions can be seen at The Doomsday List, since they're no longer on her site. Jun 14, 1998 Marilyn J. Agee's Rapture prediction #3. Jun 21, 1998 Marilyn J. Agee's Rapture prediction #4. Jul 5, 1998 The Church of the SubGenius, the only religion worthy of calling itself the One True Faith, designated this day X-Day. Xists from Planet X would arrive in flying saucers and destroy humanity on this day, and only ordained clergy who have paid their dues to the Church would be "ruptured" to safety! When that didn't come to pass, XX-Day (July 5, 1999) was declared the true end of the world. Praise Bob! Sep 20, 1998 Marilyn J. Agee's Rapture prediction #5. Sep 30, 1998 Using Edgar Cayce's prophecies, Kirk Nelson predicted the return of Jesus on this date in his book The Second Coming 1998. Oct 10, 1998 Monte Kim Miller, leader of the Denver charismatic cult Concerned Christians, was convinced that the Apocalypse would occur on this date, with Denver the first city to be destroyed. The cult members mysteriously disappeared afterwards; but later resurfaced in Israel, where they were deported on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack at the end of 1999. Miller had also claimed he will die in the streets of Jerusalem in December 1999, to be resurrected three days later. (Sources: Watchman Fellowship, Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance) Nov 1998 The Second Coming and the beginning of the Tribulation, according to Ron Reese. He wrote that he had "overwhelming evidence" that this was true. (McIver #3081) Dec 12, 1998 The beginning of the end, according to Linda Newkirk of www.prophecies.org. On her comical site, in which she transcribed dialogs she supposedly had with God, God told her that the "USA will be invaded by Russia, China, an Arab Alliance, and even the UN and NATO. It will take place at around 1:45 AM on this date, and 75 million people will die immediately. Huge cities will be nothing more than potholes. Places like San Francisco will be eradicated immediately. Millions more will die of starvation and all kinds of diseases brought about by chemical, nerve and biological warfare." This quote disappeared from her site soon after the failure of the prophecy, whereupun she jumped onto the Y2K doomsaying bandwagon. I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise to find her site dead. 1999 - End of the world according to some Seventh Day Adventist literature. (Skinner p.105, Mann p.xiii)
- End of the world according to the Jehovah's Witnesses. (Skinner p.102, Mann p.xiii)
- Apocalyptic battle, followed by peace, as per a vision of George Washington. According to this apocryphal tale, the apparition of a beautiful woman appeared before George saying, "Son of the Republic, look and learn." Thereupon he saw the world as it would be in 1999. Black clouds with red lights in the center, representing invading armies, spewed forth from all around the world and poured into America. After a massive battle, an angel sprinkled water on the world and peace is restored. (Uncle John p.2092)
- The height of the Antichrist's power, when a terrible holocaust will occur, as foreseen by astrologer Jeane Dixon. In The Call to Glory, Dixon wrote, "As the [Russian] armies begin to move on the Middle East about 1999, Russian MIRVs and FOBSs will rain down a nuclear holocaust upon our coastal cities, both east and west." Dixon also claimed the Antichrist was born on Feb. 5, 1962. Could actress Jennifer Jason Leigh be the Antichrist? That is her birthday, after all. (Kyle p.153, Dixon p.168)
- A pole shift will cause natural disasters and World War III, or so the "Sleeping Prophet" Edgar Cayce claimed. (Skinner p.127)
- The end of the world according to linguist/credophile Charles Berlitz, as predicted in his book Doomsday: 1999 A.D. Any of a number of scenarios could happen, claimed Berlitz, including nuclear devastation, asteroid impact, pole shift or other earth changes. (Kyle p.194)
- Internut Dore Williamson, who spams various Usenet groups with claims that she is the incarnation of Christ, claimed repeatedly that the world would end in 1999, due to varying causes such as a biological war unleashed by Clinton. She also claimed that Clinton is the Antichrist. She is still an active Usenet participant. In this post, Dore is taken to task for her failed prophecy.
Mar 25, 1999 On September 25, 1997, Hal Lindsey predicted on his TV show International Intelligence Briefing that Russia would invade Israel within 18 months. Many fundamentalists believe from highly questionable scriptural interpretation that Russia's invasion of Israel is predicted in the Bible and that it will lead to Armageddon. (Abanes p.286) Apr 3, 1999 The Rapture, according to H.J. Hoekstra. Unfortunately, his entertaining website is no longer in existence. He believed we live on the inside of a hollow Earth, and used numerology to calculate the date of the Rapture. The existence of his website is attested at Alma Geddon's site. May 8, 1999 According to an astrological pamphlet circulating in India, the world was to meet its doom by a series of severe natural disasters on this date. This prediction caused many Indians to panic. (Source: BBC News) May 22, 1999 Marilyn Agee's Rapture prediction #6. May 30, 1999 Marilyn J. Agee's Rapture prediction #7. This is "Orthodox Pentecost." Jun 20, 1999 Marilyn J. Agee's Rapture prediction #8. This is "astronomical Pentecost." Jun 30, 1999 "Father" Charles L. Moore appeared on the Art Bell show November 26-27, 1998, claiming he knew the Third Secret of Fatima. According to Moore, the prophecy said that an asteroid would strike the Earth on June 30, bringing about the End. July 1999 The month made famous by 16th century soothsayer Nostradamus, the month that people have wondered about for over four centuries, is now at long last a part of history. And guess what? No King of Terror! Bummer, eh? In the following quatrain, Nosty made a grim-sounding prediction (Source: The Mask of Nostradamus by James Randi):
L'an mil neuf cens nonante neuf sept mois
Du ciel viendra un grand Roy deffraieur
Resusciter le grand Roy d'Angolmois
Avant apres Mars regner par bon heur.
The year 1999, seven months,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror:
To bring back to life the great King of the Mongols,
Before and after Mars to reign by good luck. (Quatrain X.72)
But it was not to be. When July passed, the inevitable date postponement began. The folks on the alt.prophecies.nostradamus newsgroup and the webmasters of various Nostradamus fan sites extended the deadline of fulfillment to August 13 (the end of July according to the Julian calendar used in Nostradamus' day), then September 30 ("sept mois" must have meant "September" after all!), then October 10 (the end of the 7th month of the Hebrew calendar), and finally October 22 (the end of the seventh month of the Zodiac). Now some people are saying Nosty meant the whole year of 1999 plus 7 months, i.e. July 2000! There is no end to the denial!!
Of course, there are those who claim the prophecy was fulfilled. Some said that the prophecy referred a meteor that exploded over New Zealand in early July or perhaps the total eclipse of August 11. But did these events resuscitate the King of the Mongols?Jul 4, 1999 Despite the fact that Nostradamus never specified a day for the King of Terror's arrival, rumors circulated through the Internet and popular culture that the world would end on July 4. This caused a lot of speculation and apprehension in certain circles of the Internet. Jul 5, 1999 XX-day, according to the Church of the SubGenius. But the Xists and their saucers once again postponed their visit. Now all eyes are on XXX-day: July 5, 2000. The End has become an annual event! Jul 7, 1999 The Earth's axis was to shift full 90 degrees at 7:00am GMT, resulting in a "water baptism" of the world, according to Eileen Lakes. Her site is still there, but she's deleted all references to July 7, 1999. The caption above the picture of the Earth originally read:
7:00 a.m., on Wednesday, July 7, 1999
at the World Greenwich Mean Time
The earth will turn right by 90 degrees very instantly.Jul 24, 1999 According to a book published in February by the Japanese author Akio Cho, Nostradamus' "Great King of Terror" was supposed to descend from the sky at 5:00pm on this date (some sources say July 26). (Source: Rick Ross) Jul 28, 1999 A lunar eclipse would signify the end of the Church Age and the beginning of the Tribulation, according to Gerald Vano. (Source: The Doomsday List.) Aug 1999 A cult calling itself Universal and Human Energy, also known as SHY (Spirituality, Humanity, Yoga), predicted the end of the world in August. (Source: FACTNet) Aug 6, 1999 The Branch Davidians believed that David Koresh would return to Earth on this day, 2300 days (Daniel 8:14) after his death. Sorry, guys! (Source: Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance) Aug 11, 1999 During the week between August 11 and August 18 a series of astronomical events took place: the last total solar eclipse of the millennium (Aug 11), the Grand Cross planetary formation (Aug 18), the Perseid meteor shower (Aug 12), the swingby of NASA's plutonium-bearing Cassini space probe (Aug 17-18), and Comet Lee's visit to the inner solar system. Add to this the fact that some of these events are taking place before the end of July according to the Julian calendar, and you have a recipe for rampant apocalyptic paranoia. Fashion designer Paco Rabanne claimed that Mir would crash into Paris on August 11. It didn't. Others said that a monstrous asteroid or comet, previously unseen, would become visible during the eclipse and strike the Earth thereafter. Nothing happened. Aug 14, 1999 Escape666.com originally proclaimed on their website that a doomsday comet would hit Earth between August 11-14. (McIver #3362). Aug 18, 1999 - The end of the world, as foreseen by Charles Criswell King (aka The Amazing Criswell) in his 1968 bestseller Criswell Predicts: From Now to the Year 2000. As he wrote:
"The world as we know it will cease to exist...on August 18, 1999.... And if you and I meet each other on the street that fateful day...and we chat about what we will do on the morrow, we will open our mouths to speak and no words will come out, for we have no future."
Why August 18? I'm not certain, but it does happen to be Criswell's birthday. (Abanes p.43) - Many alarmists were convinced that the Cassini space probe would crash into the Earth on August 18. Some even went so far as to say it would poison a third of the world's population with its plutonium, fulfilling the prophecy of Revelation 8:11 concerning a star named Wormwood -- supposedly a metaphor for radiation poisoning ("Chernobylnik" is the Ukrainian word for a purple-stemmed subspecies of the wormwood plant). But as expected, Cassini passed by the Earth without a hitch.
Aug 19, 1999 The end of the world, according to Prof. Hideo Itakawa. (Mann p.xi) Aug 24, 1999 In 1996, Valerie James wrote in The European Magazine, "The configuration of planets which predicted the coming of Christ will once again appear on Aug 24, 1999." I'm assuming she pinpointed this date for the Parousia. (Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance) Sep 1999 - The End, according to Jack Van Impe. (Shaw p.131)
- According to Escape666.com, Nostradamus's King of Terror was to descend on Earth in September, heralding the beginning of the Tribulation and the Rapture. Escape666 said, regarding Nostradamus's infamous quatrain X.72: "now we know EXACTLY when he meant: SEPTEMBER 1999." However, as the end of September approached, they changed their date to October 12.
Sep 3, 1999 Judgement Day was to be on September 2 or 3, according to the notorious Japanese doomsday cult Aum Shinrikyo. Only members of Aum were to survive. Well, they did survive, but so did the rest of us. Perhaps this means we're all members of Aum? Thankfully, no sarin gas attacks occurred. Sep 9, 1999 9/9/99, touted by some Y2K paranoiacs as a possible day that computers would crash and bring modern civilization to its knees. Apparently, some old programs used 9999 as a "terminate" flag. Not a single computer crashed due to this problem. Fact is, using 9999 to denote September 9, 1999 is an exceedingly inefficient way to represent this date. It's more efficient to use 090999, 990909, or something similar. (Source: SF Gate) Sep 11, 1999 - Bonnie Gaunt used the Bible Codes to prove that Rosh Hashanah 5760 (September 11, 1999) is the date of the Rapture. Not surprisingly, her web page promptly disappeared on Sep. 12. However there is still a newspaper article available online about her prediction.
- Jason Hommel spammed Usenet with claims that the Rapture was to take place on this date, and used a plethora of over-imaginitive numerology and unorthodox scriptural interpretation to arrive at this conclusion. He used the famous "know not the day nor the hour" verse to paradoxically pinpoint the date of the Rapture. But in a bit of honesty rare among doomsayers, Hommel actually admitted he was wrong and apologized.
- Michael Rood also jumped on the Rosh Hashanah bandwagon. He claimed that this day is the first day of the Hebrew calendar year 6001, and after it failed, he changed the date to April 5, 2000. In reality, this day was the first day of 5760, but Michael claimed that there was a mistake in the calendar.
- Jan Weaver Gindorf posted an email to the webmaster of The Doomsday List, in which she predicted the Rapture would occur on or around this date. Please see The Doomsday List for more details.
Sep 23, 1999 - Author Stefan Paulus combines Nostradamus, the Bible and astrology to arrive at September 23 as the date that a doomsday comet will impact the Earth. (Paulus p.57)
- A Nostradamus aficionado named SmaKYadowN picked September 23 as a possible date of impact of an asteroid. His website has disappeared, unfortunately, but a reference to him is preserved at Alma Geddon's site.
Oct 1999 - Apparently, there are still some active members of the Korean Hyoo-go (see Oct 28, 1992) movement left. These Tami Sect proponents predict the demise of this earth in October 1999. (Source: Korea Times)
- Jack Van Impe, one of the more crazed and entertaining end-times screechers, predicted the Rapture and the Second Coming for October 1999. (Wojcik p.212)
Oct 12, 1999 Escape666.com rescheduled the arrival of the King of Terror by this day. Nov 1999 Armageddon to culminate with "wholesale obliteration" as foreseen by Richard Kieninger in his 1963 book The Ultimate Frontier. (Abanes p.68) Nov 4, 1999 Using Nostradamus's famed Quatrain X.72, KingOfTerror, a regular on alt.prophecies.nostradamus, touted a window within which the King of Terror (possibly an asteroid) would come from the sky. The window was from July 1 to November 4, 1999. Nov 7, 1999 Internet doomsday nut Richard Hoagland, whose homepage is another that has to be seen to be believed, claims that an "inside source" called him anonymously and warned of three objects that will strike the earth on this day. The objects were supposedly seen during the August 11 eclipse. Nov 29, 1999 According to a vision he received in 1996, Dumitru Duduman claims that the destruction of America (i.e. Babylon) will occur around November 29, 1999. Dec 1999 Second Coming: Monte Kim Miller of the cult Concerned Christians claimed he would die in the streets of Jerusalem during a violent confrontation, and be resurrected three days later. No word on whether or not he's still alive. (Source: Watchman Fellowship) Dec 21, 1999 Sometime between November 23 and December 21, 1999, the War of Wars was to begin, claimed Nostradamus buff Henry C. Roberts. (Skeptical Inquirer, May/June 2000, p.6) Dec 25, 1999 The Second Coming of Christ, according to doomsday prophet Martin Hunter. (Oropeza p.57) Dec 31, 1999 - Hon-Ming Chen's cult God's Salvation Church, now relocated to upstate New York, preached that a nuclear holocaust would destroy Europe and Asia sometime between October 1 and December 31, 1999. 1972 Herbert W. Armstrong's Rapture prediction #3. (Shaw p.99) 1973 David Berg (aka Moses David), guru of the Children of God (aka the Family of Love, or just "The Family"), predicted in his publication The Endtime News! the United States would be destroyed by Comet Kohoutek in 1973. (McIver #2095) Jan 1974 David Berg predicted in his so-called Mo Letters that Comet Kohoutek would destroy the US during this month. 1976 Charles Taylor's Rapture prediction #2. (Abanes p.99) 1977 - John Wroe (the Southcottian who had himself publicly circumcised in 1823) set 1977 as the date of Armageddon. (Randi p.243)
- Fundamentalist cult leader William Branham predicted that the Rapture would take place no later than 1977. Just before this, Los Angeles was to fall into the sea after an earthquake, the Vatican would achieve dictatorial powers over the world, and all of Christianity would become unified. (Babinski p.277)
- Pyramidologist Adam Rutherford expected that the Millennium would begin in 1977. (Source: article by John Baskette)
1978 In his book The Doomsday Globe, John Strong drew on scriptures, pyramidology, pole shift theory, young-earth creationism and other mysticism to conclude that Doomsday would come in 1978. (McIver #3237) Sometime in the 1980s In his book Armageddon 198? Stephen D. Swihart predicted the End would occur sometime in the 1980s. 1980 Charles Taylor's Rapture prediction #3. (Abanes p.99) Apr 1, 1980 Radio preacher Willie Day Smith of Irving, Texas, claimed that this day would witness the Second Coming. (Source: What About the Second Coming of Christ?) Apr 29, 1980 Leland Jensen, founder of the Bahá'ís Under the Provisions of the Covenant -- a small sect that mixes mainstream Bahá'í teachings with pyramidology and Bible prophecy -- predicted that a nuclear holocaust would occur on this day, killing a third of the world's population. After the prophecy failed, Jensen rationalized that this date was merely the beginning of the Tribulation. (Robbins p.73) 1981 - The establishment of the Kingdom of Heaven, according to Rev. Sun Myung Moon. (Kyle p.148)
- Charles Taylor's Rapture prediction #4. (Abanes p.99)
- Pastor Chuck Smith, founder of Calvary Chapel, wrote in his book Future Survival, "I'm convinced that the Lord is coming for His Church before the end of 1981." Smith arrived at his calculation by adding 40 (one "Biblical generation") to 1948 (the year of Israel's statehood) and subtracting 7 for the Tribulation. When 1981 passed by, the group members experienced a mini version of the Great Disappointment of 1844. (Abanes p.326)
June 28, 1981 Rev. Bill Maupin, leader of a small Tuscon, AZ, sect named Lighthouse Gospel Tract Foundation, preached that the world would come to an end on this day, which they called "rapture day." Those who were saved would be "spirited aloft like helium balloons." Some 50 people gathered in a Millerite-like fashion, only to have their dreams predictably dashed. (Source: Philosophy and the Scientific Method by Ronald C. Pine) August 7, 1981 When his June 28 prediction failed, Bill Maupin claimed that doomsday would take place 40 days later. Maupin said that just as Noah's ark was gradually raised to safety over a period of 40 days, the same would happen to the world. (Source: a former member of Maupin's church, who was kind enough to share this information with me.) 1982 - Charles Taylor's Rapture prediction #5. (Abanes p.99)
- Jesus was to return and rapture Christians away from the Tribulation in 1982, taught Canadian prophet Doug Clark. He used the Jupiter Effect to support his thesis, claiming it would trigger earthquakes and fires that would kill millions. (Abanes p.91)
- Emil Gaverluk of the Southwest Radio Church suggested that the Jupiter Effect would pull Mars to out of orbit and send it careening into the Earth. (Abanes p.100-101)
Mar 10, 1982 When the planets lined up, their combined gravitational forces were supposed to bring the end of the world. A book called The Jupiter Effect, by John Gribbin and Stephen Plagemann, helped to spread these fears. An excellent article on planetary lineups can be found here. (Abanes p.62) Jun 25, 1982 Benjamin Creme, British artist and founder of Tara Center, on April 25, 1982 took out an ad in the Los Angeles Times proclaiming "THE CHRIST IS NOW HERE", referring to the coming of Maitreya within 2 months. Creme supposedly received the messages from Maitreya through "channeling." Perhaps his ad should have read, "THE CHRIST IS NOWHERE"! (Grosso p.7, Oropeza p.155) Fall 1982 In the late '70s, Pat Robertson predicted the end of the world would occur in the fall of 1982. "I guarantee you by the end of 1982 there is going to be a judgment on the world," he said in a May, 1980 broadcast of the 700 Club. (Boyer p.138) 1983 - Apocalyptic war between the US and the Soviet Union was supposed to break out by the end of 1983, said the End Times News Digest. (Shaw p.182)

Mar 25, 1985 The beginning of World War III, as prophesied by Vern Grimsley of the doomsday cult Family of God Foundation. This cult was a small offshoot of the Urantia Foundation, a loosely organized religious group that uses as its scripture a tedious 2000 page tome called the Urantia Book. (Sources: here and here) Aug 1985 Date of World War III, according to the 1977 bestseller The Third World War: August 1985 by retired NATO General Sir John Hackett. While not really a prophecy, the book was written as a warning to world leaders about what could realistically happen based on world developments at that time. 1986 Charles Taylor's Rapture prediction #8. (Abanes p.99) Apr 29, 1987 Leland Jensen of the Bahá'ís Under the Provisions of the Covenant predicted that Halley's Comet would be pulled into Earth's orbit on April 29, 1986, and chunks of the comet would pelt the Earth for a year. The gravitational force of the comet would cause great earthquakes, and on April 29, 1987, the comet itself would crash into the Earth wreaking widespread destruction. When the prophecies failed, Jensen rationalized the failure as follows: "A spiritual stone hit the earth." (Robbins p.73, 78) 1987 Charles Taylor's Rapture prediction #9. (Abanes p.99) Aug 17, 1987 The "Harmonic Convergence." New Age author José Argüelles claimed that Armageddon would take place unless 144,000 people gathered in certain places in the world in order to "resonate in harmony" on this day. Apparently, their resonating succeeded: we're still here. (McIver #2023, Kyle p.156, Wojcik p.207) 1988 - Hal Lindsey's bestseller The Late, Great Planet Earth, suggested that the Rapture would take place in 1988, reasoning that it was 40 years (one Biblical generation) after Israel gained statehood. (Abanes p.85)
- Charles Taylor's Rapture prediction #10. (Abanes p.99)
- Canadian prophet Doug Clark suggested 1988 as the date of the Rapture, in his book Final Shockwaves to Armageddon. (Abanes p.91)
- David Webber and Noah Hutchings of the Southwest Radio Church suggested that the Rapture would take place "possibly in 1987 or 1988." (Abanes p.101)
- The Rapture, according to TV prophet J.R. Church in hiss book Hidden Prophecies in the Psalms. He used a bizarre theory that each of the Psalms referred to a year in the 20th century (i.e. Psalm 1 represents the events in 1901, etc.), to arrive at this conclusion. (Abanes p.103)
- Colin Deal wrote a book entitled Christ Returns by 1988: 101 Reasons Why. (Oropeza p.175)
Sep 13, 1988 Edgar C. Whisenant lightened the wallets of many a believer with his best-selling book 88 Reasons Why The Rapture Will Be in 1988. He predicted the Rapture between September 11 and 13 (Rosh Hashanah). After his prediction failed, he released another book: The Final Shout: Rapture Report 1989. (Kyle p.121, Abanes p.93) Sep 15, 1988 After Whisenant's prediction failed, he insisted that the Rapture would take place at 10:55 am on September 15. (Abanes p.94) Oct 3, 1988 Incredulous that yet another prediction failed, Whisenant pushed the date of the Rapture forward to October 3. (Abanes p.94) 1989 - Charles Taylor's Rapture prediction #11. (Abanes p.99)
- In his 1968 book Guide to Survival, Salem Kirban used Bishop Ussher's calculations to conclude that 1989 would be the year of the Rapture. (Abanes p.283)
- In 1978, Oklahoma City's Southwest Radio Church published a pamphlet entitled God's Timetable for the 1980s in which were listed prophecies for each year of the 1980s, culminating with Christ's return and the establishment of his kingdom on Earth in 1989. With the exception of a couple predictable astronomical events, none of the predictions came true.
Sep 30, 1989 - After his 1988 Rapture prediction failed, Edgar C. Whisenant pointed to Rosh Hashanah 1989 as a possible date for the Rapture. (Abanes p.94)
- Hart Armstrong, president of Christian Communications of Wichita, repeatedly suggested that the Feast of Trumpets 1989 would be the date of the Rapture. (Abanes p.93)

- Singaporean prophecy writer Kai Lok Chan foresaw Jesus Christ returning sometime between 1986 and 1990. Armageddon (a war between the US and USSR) would take place between 1984 and 1988. He argued that the Jupiter Effect corroborated his claims. (McIver #2195)
Apr 23, 1990 Elizabeth Clare Prophet, leader of the Church Universal and Triumphant, foresaw nuclear devastation and the end of most of the human race on this day, and convinced her followers to sell their property and move with her to a ranch in Montana. (Kyle p.156, Grosso p.7) 1991 - The Rapture, according to fundamentalist author Reginald Dunlop. (Shaw p.180)
- Louis Farrakhan declared that the Gulf War would be the "War of Armageddon which is the final war." (Abanes p.307)
Mar 31, 1991 An Australian cult looked forward to the Second Coming at 9:00 am on this day. They believed that Jesus would return through Sydney Harbour! (Source: Knowing the Day and the Hour) 1992 Charles Taylor's Rapture prediction #12. (Abanes p.99) Apr 26, 1992 On April 26, 1989, prophecy nutcase Doug Clark announced on Trinity Broadcasting Network's show Praise the Lord that World War III would begin within 3 years. (Abanes p.92) Apr 29, 1992 When the LA riots broke out in response to the verdict of the Rodney King trial, members of white-supremacist group Aryan Nations thought it was the final apocalyptic race war they had been waiting for. (20/20, NBC, Dec 12, 1999) Sep 28, 1992 - Christian author Dorothy A. Miller in her book Watch & Be Ready! 1992 Millions Disappear? predicted the "last trumpet" would sound on Rosh Hashanah, heralding the Second Coming. (McIver #2923)
- "Rockin'" Rollen Stewart, a born-again Christian who made himself famous by holding up "John 3:16" signs at sporting events, thought the Rapture would take place on this day. Stewart went insane, setting off stink bombs in churches and bookstores and writing apocalyptic letters in a mission to make people get right with God. He is now serving a life sentence for kidnapping. (Adams p.18-20)
Oct 28, 1992 Lee Jang Rim, leader of the Korean doomsday cult Mission for the Coming Days (also known as the Tami Church), predicted that the Rapture would occur on this date. Lee was convicted of fraud after the prophecy failed. Lee's cult was part of the larger Hyoo-Go (Rapture) movement, which took Korea by storm in 1992. (Thompson p.227-228, McIver #2747) 1993 David Berg of the Children of God claimed in The Endtime News! that the Second Coming would take place in 1993. The Tribulation was to start in 1989. (McIver #2095, Kyle p.145) Nov 14, 1993 Judgement Day, according to self-proclaimed messiah Maria Devi Khrystos (neé Marina Tsvigun), leader of the cult Great White Brotherhood. Members of the cult planned to congregate in Kiev on that day to celebrate God's coming to Earth, but their plan was thwarted by the arrest of many of the cultists. (Alnor p.93) Dec 9, 1993 James T. Harmon added 51.57 years to May 15, 1949 (the date the UN recognized Israel) and subtracted 7 to arrive at the date of the Rapture, approximately December 9, 1993. He also suggested 1996, 2012 and 2022 as alternative rapture dates. (Oropeza p.89) 1994 - R.M. Riley, in his book 1994: The Year of Destiny, wrote that 1994 would be the year of the Rapture. (Robbins p.79) June 9, 1994 Pastor John Hinkle claimed that God told him the Apocalypse would take place on this day. In a cataclysmic event, God was supposed to "rip the evil out of this world." When the prophecy failed, he claimed that it's only the beginning and it's taking place invisibly. (Oropeza p.167-168) Jul 25, 1994 On July 19, 1993, Sister Marie Gabriel Paprocski announced to the world her prophecy that a comet would hit Jupiter on or before July 25, 1994, causing the "biggest cosmic explosion in the history of mankind" and bringing on the end of the world. Indeed, a comet did hit Jupiter on July 16, 1994. However, it is important to note that her announcement was made nearly two months after astronomer Brian Marsden discovered that Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 would hit Jupiter. (Skinner p.116, Levy p.207) Sep 23, 1994 Reginald Dunlop claimed this was the last date encoded in the Great Pyramid of Giza, meaning that the world would not last beyond this date. (Oropeza p.128) Sep 27, 1994 Harold Camping, head of Oakland's Family Radio and host of the station's Biblical discussion talk show Open Forum, predicted the end in his book 1994? He calculated that the Tribulation would end on September 6, followed by the Last Day and the Second Coming of Christ between Sep. 15 and Sep. 27. "America will burn" and be totally destroyed in 1993 or 1994, she claimed. (Kyle p.120, Oropeza p.104)
- The end of the world, as per a tongue-in-cheek numerological calculation by Superdave the Wonderchemist.
Mar 23, 1997 Richard Michael Schiller, posting under the name Eliyehowa and a host of other pseudonyms, flooded various Usenet newsgroups with his prediction that an asteroid trailing behind Comet Hale-Bopp would bring destruction to the Earth on this date. As the date drew near, be began backpedalling, claiming the world would be destroyed 9 months later when the Earth supposedly would pass through the comet's tail, and anyway there was no way the world would survive beyond 1997. You can see a characteristic post of his on Google. Mar 26, 1997 Heaven's Gate suicides. The suicides occurred between March 24 and March 26, during a window of time that the cultists had predicted a UFO trailing behind Comet Hale-Bopp would pick up their souls and save them from the imminent Apocalypse. Notice the similarity between their prophecy and Schiller's one above? Both claim that an object is following the comet. This rumor started when amateur astronomer Chuck Shramek mistook a star for what he thought was a "Saturn-like object" following the comet. With the help of the Internet and the Art Bell show, the false rumor that a UFO or asteroid was trailing the comet spread like wildfire. And we all know how hard such urban legends are to quash! (Alnor p.13, 38) May 5, 1997 On this date, the solar system was supposed to enter the Photon Belt, a mystical energy field floating through space. Once we enter the Photon Belt, something unusual is supposed to occur. Depending on the source, the world will end, aliens will land, mankind will be enlightened or achieve super powers, electrical equipment will fail...you get the picture. Nothing happened, but that hasn't stopped people from thinking we're still going to enter the Photon Belt SOON! Perhaps in 2011. (Sources: The Straight Dope, The Photon Belt Page) Oct 1997 The Rapture, according to Brother Kenneth Hagin. Oct 11, 1997 Internet prophet posted in various Usenet newsgroups that this date would be Judgement Day. His post can be seen on Google. Oct 23, 1997 6000th anniversary of Creation according to the calculations of 17th Century Irish Archbishop James Ussher. This date was a popular candidate date for the end of the world. (Gould p.98) Nov 27, 1997 According to the Sacerdotal Knights of National Security, "A space alien captured at a UFO landing site in eastern Missouri cracked under interrogation by the CIA and admitted that an extraterrestrial army will attack Earth on November 27 with the express purpose of stripping our planet of every natural resource they can find a use for -- and making slaves of every man, woman and child in the world!" Predicted date Commentary ca. 2800 BC According to Isaac Asimov's Book of Facts (1979), an Assyrian clay tablet dating to approximately 2800 BC was unearthed bearing the words "Our earth is degenerate in these latter days. There are signs that the world is speedily coming to an end. Bribery and corruption are common." This is one of the earliest examples of the perception of moral decay in society being interpreted as a sign of the imminent end. 634 BC Apocalyptic thinking gripped many ancient cultures, including the Romans. Early in Rome's history, many Romans feared that the city would be destroyed in the 120th year of its founding. There was a myth that 12 eagles had revealed to Romulus a mystical number representing the lifetime of Rome, and some early Romans hypothesized that each eagle represented 10 years. The Roman calendar was counted from the founding of Rome, 1 AUC (ab urbe condita) being 753 BC. Thus 120 AUC is 634 BC. (Thompson p.19) 389 BC Some Romans figured that the mystical number revealed to Romulus represented the number of days in a year (the Great Year concept), so they expected Rome to be destroyed around 365 AUC (389 BC). (Thompson p.19) 1st Century Jesus said, "Verily I say unto you, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom." (Matthew 16:28) This implies that the Second Coming would return within the lifetime of his contemporaries, and indeed the Apostles expected Jesus to return before the passing of their generation. ca. 70 The Essenes, a sect of Jewish ascetics with apocalyptic beliefs, may have seen the Jewish revolt against the Romans in 66-70 as the final end-time battle. (Source: PBS Frontline special Apocalypse!) 2nd Century The Montanists believed that Christ would come again within their lifetimes and establish a new Jerusalem at Pepuza, in the land of Phrygia. Montanism was perhaps the first bona fide Christian doomsday cult. It was founded ca. 156 AD by the tongues-speaking prophet Montanus and two followers, Priscilla and Maximilla. Despite the failure of Jesus to return, the cult lasted for several centuries. Tertullian, who once said "I believe it just because it is unbelievable" (a true skeptic if ever there was one!), was perhaps the most renowned Montanist. (Gould p.43-44) 247 Rome celebrated its thousandth anniversary this year. At the same time, the Roman government dramatically increased its persecution of Christians, so much so that many Christians believed that the End had arrived. (Source: PBS Frontline special Apocalypse!) 365 Hilary of Poitiers predicted the world would end in 365. (Source: Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance) 380 The Donatists, a North African Christian sect headed by Tyconius, looked forward to the world ending in 380. (Source: American Atheists) Late 4th Century St. Martin of Tours (ca. 316-397) wrote, "There is no doubt that the Antichrist has already been born. Firmly established already in his early years, he will, after reaching maturity, achieve supreme power." (Abanes p.119) 500 - Roman theologian Sextus Julius Africanus (ca. 160-240) claimed that the End would occur 6000 years after the Creation. He assumed that there were 5531 years between the Creation and the Resurrection, and thus expected the Second Coming to take place no later than 500 AD. (Kyle p.37, McIver #21)
- Hippolytus (died ca. 236), believing that Christ would return 6000 years after the Creation, anticipated the Parousia in 500 AD. (Abanes p.283)
- The theologian Irenaeus, influenced by Hippolytus's writings, also saw 500 as the year of the Second Coming. (Abanes p.283, McIver #15)
Apr 6, 793 Elipandus, bishop of Toledo, described a brief bout of end-time panic that happened on Easter Eve, 793. According to Elipandus, the Spanish monk Beatus of Liébana prophesied the end of the world that day in the presence a crowd of people. The people, thinking that the world would end that night, became frightened, panicked, and fasted through the night until dawn. Seeing that the world had not ended and feeling hungry, Hordonius, one of the fasters, quipped, "Let's eat and drink, so that if we die at least we'll be fed." (Abanes p. 168-169, Weber p.50) 800 - Sextus Julius Africanus revised the date of Doomsday to 800 AD. (Kyle p.37)
- Beatus of Liébana wrote in his Commentary on the Apocalypse, which he finished in 786, that there were only 14 years left until the end of the world. Thus, the world would end by 800 at the latest. (Abanes p.168)
806 Bishop Gregory of Tours calculated the End occurring between 799 and 806. (Weber p.48) 848 The prophetess Thiota declared that the world would end this year. (Abanes p.337) Mar 25, 970 Lotharingian computists foresaw the End on Friday, March 25, 970, when the Annunciation and Good Friday fell on the same day. They believed that it was on this day that Adam was created, Isaac was sacrificed, the Red Sea was parted, Jesus was conceived, and Jesus was crucified. Therefore, it naturally followed that the End must occur on this day! (Source: Center for Millennial Studies) 992 Bernard of Thuringia calculated that the end would come in 992. (Randi p.236) 995 The Feast of the Annunciation and Good Friday also coincided in 992, prompting some mystics to conclude that the world would end within 3 years of that date. (Weber p.50-51) 1000 There are many stories of apocalyptic paranoia around the year 1000. For example, legend has it that a "panic terror" gripped Europe in the years and months before this date. However, scholars disagree on which stories are genuine, whether millennial expectations at this time were any greater than usual, or whether ordinary people were even aware of what year it was. An excellent article on Y1K apocalyptic expectations can be found at the Center for Millennial Studies. (Gould, Schwartz, Randi) 1033 After Jesus failed to return in 1000, some mystics pushed the date of the End to the thousandth anniversary of the Crucifixion. The writings of the Burgundian monk Radulfus Glaber described a rash of millennial paranoia during the period from 1000-1033. (Kyle p.39, Abanes p.337, McIver #50) 1184 Various Christian prophets foresaw the Antichrist coming in 1184. (Abanes p.338) Sep 23, 1186 John of Toledo, after calculating that a planetary alignment would occur in Libra on September 23, 1186 (Julian calendar), circulated a letter (known as the "Letter of Toledo") warning that the world was to going to be destroyed on this date, and that only a few people would survive. (Randi p.236) 1260 Italian mystic Joachim of Fiore (1135-1202) determined that the Millennium would begin between 1200 and 1260. (Kyle p.48) 1284 Pope Innocent III expected the Second Coming to take place in 1284, 666 years after the rise of Islam. (Schwartz p.181) 1290 Followers of Joachim of Fiore (the Joachites) rescheduled the End to 1290 when his 1260 prophecy failed. (McIver #58) 1306 In 1147 Gerard of Poehlde, believing that Christ's Millennium began when the emperor Constantine came to power, figured that Satan would become unbound at the end of the thousand-year period and destroy the Church. Since Constantine rose to power in 306, the end of the Millennium would be in 1306. (Source: Christian author Richard J. Foster) 1335 Another Joachite doomsday date. (McIver #58) 1367 Czech archdeacon Militz of Kromeriz claimed the Antichrist was alive and well and would manifest himself between 1363 and 1367. The End would come between 1365 and 1367. (McIver #67) 1370 The Millennium would begin in 1368 or 1370, as foreseen by Jean de Roquetaillade, a French ascetic. The Antichrist was to come in 1366. (Weber p.55) 1378 Arnold of Vilanova, a Joachite, wrote in his work De Tempore Adventu Antichristi that the Antichrist was to come in 1378. (McIver #62) Feb 14, 1420 Czech Doomsday prophet Martinek Hausha (Martin Huska) of the radical Taborite movement warned that the world would end in February 1420, February 14 at the latest. The Taborites were an offshoot of the Hussite movement of Bohemia. (McIver #71, Shaw p.43) 1496 The beginning of the Millennium, according to some 15th Century mystics. (Mann p. ix) ca. 1504 Italian artist Sandro Botticelli wrote a caption in Greek on his painting The Mystical Nativity:
"I Sandro painted this picture at the end of the year 1500 in the troubles of Italy in the half time after the time according to the eleventh chapter of St. John in the second woe of the Apocalypse in the loosing of the devil for three and a half years. Then he will be chained in the 12th chapter and we shall see him trodden down as in this picture."
Apparently, he thought he was living during the Tribulation, and that the Millennium would begin in three and a half years or so, which is understandable given the fact that he is known to have been a follower of Girolamo Savonarola. (Weber p.60)Feb 1, 1524 The End would occur by a flood starting in London on February 1 (Julian), according to calculations some London astrologers made the previous June. Around 20,000 people abandoned their homes, and a clergyman stockpiled food and water in a fortress he built. (Sound familiar? It's just like the doomsday cultists and Y2K nuts of today!) As it happened, it didn't even rain in London on that date. (Randi p.236-237) Feb 20, 1524 A planetary alignment in Pisces was seen as a sign of the Millennium by astrologer Johannes Stoeffler. The world was to be destroyed by a flood on this date (Julian), Pisces being a water sign. (Randi p.236-237) 1525 The beginning of the Millennium, according to Anabaptist Thomas Müntzer. Thinking that he was living at the "end of all ages," he led an unsuccessful peasants' revolt and was subsequently tortured and executed. (Gould p.48) 1528 Stoeffler recalculated Doomsday to 1528 after his 1524 prediction failed (Randi p.238) May 27, 1528 Reformer Hans Hut predicted the end would occur on Pentecost (May 27, Julian calendar). (Weber p.67, Shaw p.44) 1532 Frederick Nausea (what a name!), a Viennese bishop, was certain that the world would end in 1532 after hearing reports of bizarre occurrences, including bloody crosses appearing in the sky alongside a comet. (Randi p. 238) 1533 Anabaptist prophet Melchior Hoffman's prediction for the year of Christ's Second Coming, to take place in Strasbourg. He claimed that 144,000 people would be saved, while the rest of the world would be consumed by fire. (Kyle p.59) Oct 19, 1533 Mathematician Michael Stifel calculated that the Day of Judgement would begin at 8:00am on this day. (McIver #88) Apr 5, 1534 Jan Matthys predicted that the Apocalypse would take place on Easter Day (April 5, Julian calendar) and only the city of Münster would be spared. (Shaw p.45, Abanes p.338) 1537 French astrologer Pierre Turrel announced four different possible dates for the end of the world, using four different calculation methods. The dates were 1537, 1544, 1801 and 1814. (Randi p. 239) 1544 Pierre Turrel's doomsday calculation #2. (Randi p. 239) ca. 1555 Around the year 1400, the French theologian Pierre d'Ailly wrote that 6845 years of human history had already passed, and the end of the world would be in the 7000th year. His works would later influence the apocalyptic thinking of Christopher Columbus. (McIver #72) Jul 22, 1556 In 1556, a rumor was circulating that the world would end on Magdalene's Day, as recorded by Swiss medical student Felix Platter. (Weber p.68, p.249) Apr 28, 1583 The Second Coming of Christ would take place at noon, according to astrologer Richard Harvey. This was the date of a conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn, and numerous astrologers in London predicted the world would end then. (Skinner p.27, Weber p.93) 1584 Cyprian Leowitz, an astrologer, predicted the end would occur in 1584. (Randi p.239, McIver #105) 1588 The end of the world according to the sage Johann Müller (aka Regiomontanus). (Randi p. 239) 1600 Martin Luther believed that the End would occur no later than 1600. (Weber p.66) 1603 Dominican monk Tomasso Campanella wrote that the sun would collide with the Earth in 1603. (Weber p.83) 1623 Eustachius Poyssel used numerology to pinpoint 1623 as the year of the end of the world. (McIver #125) Feb 1, 1624 The same astrologers who predicted the deluge of February 1, 1524 recalculated the date to February 1, 1624 after their first prophecy failed. (Randi p.236-237) 1648 Using the kabbalah, Sabbatai Zevi, a rabbi from Smyrna, Turkey, figured that the Messiah would come in 1648, accompanied by miracles. The Messiah, of course, would be Zevi himself! (Randi p.239, Festinger) 1654 In 1578, physician Helisaeus Roeslin of Alsace, basing his prediction on a nova that occurred in 1572, foresaw the world ending in 1654 in a blaze of fire. (Randi p.240) 1656 Believed to be a possible date for the end of the world, 1656 is the number of years between the Creation and the Flood. (Skinner p.27) 1657 Final apocalyptic battle and the destruction of the Antichrist were to take place between 1655 and 1657, as per the Fifth Monarchy Men, a radical group of English millenarians who attempted to take over Parliament to impose their extremist theocratic agenda on the country. Not unlike the Christian Coalition of modern-day America! (Kyle p.67) 1658 In his The Book of Prophecies, Christopher Columbus claimed that the world was created in 5343BC, and would last 7000 years. Assuming no year zero, that means the end would come in 1658. Columbus was influenced by Pierre d'Ailly. (McIver #77) 1660 Joseph Mede, whose writings influenced James Ussher and Isaac Newton, claimed that the Antichrist appeared way back in 456, and the end would come in 1660. (McIver #147) 1666 - As this date is 1000 (millennium) + 666 (number of the Beast) and followed a period of war and strife in England, many Londoners feared that 1666 would be the end of the world. The Great Fire of London in 1666 did not help to alleviate these fears. (Schwartz p.87, Kyle p.67-68)
- Sabbatai Zevi recalculated the coming of the Messiah to 1666. Despite his failed prophecies, he had accumulated a great many followers. He was later arrested for stirring up trouble, and given the choice of converting to Islam or execution. Pragmatic man that he was, he wisely elected for the former. (Festinger)
1673 Deacon William Aspinwall, a leader of the Fifth Monarchy movement, claimed the Millennium would begin by this year. (Abanes p.209, McIver #174) 1688 John Napier's doomsday calculation #1, based on the Book of Revelation. Napier was the mathematician who discovered logarithms. (Weber p.92) 1689 Pierre Jurieu, a Camisard prophet, predicted that Judgement Day would occur in 1689. The Camisards were Huguenots of the Languedoc region of southern France. (Kyle p.70) 1694 - Anglican rector John Mason calculated this date as the beginning of the Millennium. (Kyle p.72)
- The beginning of the Millennium, as predicted by German theologian Johann Alsted. (Kyle p.66)
Fall 1694 Drawing from theology and astrology, German prophet Johann Jacob Zimmerman determined that the world would end in the fall of 1694. Zimmerman gathered a group of pilgrims and made plans to go to America to welcome Jesus back to Earth. However, he died in February of that year, on the very day of departure. Johannes Kelpius took over leadership of the cult, which was known as Woman in the Wilderness, and they completed their journey to the New World. Fall came and went and, needless to say, the cultists were profoundly disappointed at having traveled all the way across the Atlantic just to be stood up by Jesus. (Cohen p.19-20) 1697 - The beginning of the Millennium, according to Anglican rector Thomas Beverly. (Kyle p.72, McIver #224)
- The notorious witch hunter Cotton Mather was the Ken Starr of Puritan New England. When he wasn't out hunting witches, he was busy predicting the end of the world, 1697 being his first doomsdate. After the prediction failed, he revised the date of the End two more times. (Abanes p.338)
1700 - The end of the world, according to some Puritans. (Kyle p.79)
- John Napier's doomsday calculation #2, based on the Book of Daniel. (Weber p.92)
- The date of the Second Coming, according to Henry Archer, a Fifth Monarchy Man. Archer made this prediction in his 1642 book The Personall Reign of Christ Upon Earth. (McIver #158)

Failed predictions:
Sometime in 2000: Many Christian individuals and groups have long anticipated that Christ's return would happen in 2000 CE. Many of them believe that this event would be preceded by a 7 year period called "The Tribulation." They expected that this interval would start in 1993 and that 42 months into the Tribulation, terrible things would occur. However, that time passed and the anticipated events did not happen. Some prophecy experts have gone back to the drawing boards to try to figure out why. Additional prophecies for 2000 CE are: According to the Weekly World News for 1999-DEC-14, long lost "Bethlehem Prophecies" predict that one half of the earth's surface will vanish under water in the blink of an eye. The cause may be a meteor or comet hitting one of the world's oceans. This would produce earthquakes, tidal waves, and a rapid rise in sea level. If you divide 2000 by 3, using integer arithmetic, the answer is 666, the number of the Antichrist mentioned in the Biblical book of Revelation. This might indicate that some enormous events predicted in that book might come to pass. The Virgin Mary is said to have communicated to Father Gobbi of the Marian Movement of Priests: "I confirm to you that, by the Great Jubilee Year 2000, there will take place the Triumph of my Immaculate Heart, of which I foretold you at Fatima, and this will come to pass with the return of Jesus in glory, to establish His Reign in the world." 3 On occasions, Father Gobbi separated the Triumph from the return of Jesus; only the former was to happen in the year 2000. Michael Drosnin, author of "The Bible Code," found a hidden message in the Pentateuch (the first five books in the Bible) that predicts that World War III, involving a worldwide atomic [sic] holocaust, will start in 2000 (or perhaps 2006). Hal Lindsey currently no longer makes specific predictions about the end of the world. In his book The Late Great Planet Earth he did predict the battle of Armageddon in 2000 CE and the second coming of Christ in 2007 CE. He also cited 2048 as an alternative date. According to Time magazine for 1999-JAN-18, the Christian Coalition "speculated that President Clinton might use the chaos that Y2k unleashes as an opportunity to seize dictatorial powers." Dory Tan, one of the visionaries associated with the Greensides' Farm in Marmora ON had been receiving public messages from the virgin Mary up to 1998-OCT-13 and private messages since. She says that the year 2000 is a "deadline" for Christian preparation. "On June 6th, 1998, Our Blessed Mother purportedly informed Mrs. Tan that: 'All of you who are sick and have problems and do not have faith, I will give you a chance. I wish all my children before the year 2000 to be prepared. I want you all to be with me and my Son Jesus, in His Kingdom in heaven.' "1 On 1999-JAN-1, Ms. Tan received a message that "there are many events to occur before the end of 1999, and that She [the blessed virgin Mary] will tell us in advance of them happening. She says that what is happening in Kosovo currently, is nothing compared to what is coming." According to the Weekly World News for 1999-DEC-14, long lost "Bethlehem Prophecies" predict that a "final, stunning epidemic will kill almost everyone left on earth," during the year 2000. N.W. Hutchings of Southwest Radio is reported as having predicted an end of the world during 2000. 2000-JAN-1: This is an obvious date to select, because most people believe that the next millennium begins then. It doesn't; it starts one year later on 2001-JAN-1. According to the 1997-JUN-24 issue of Sun Magazine Pope John XXIII predicted in 1961 that Doomsday will begin with the detonation of a nuclear bomb in a major European city by a Libyan terrorist group. This would have triggered a massive six-month war that will cause the deaths of millions of people. The chance that this is an accurate quotation is near zero. William Cooper, head of a militia group in St. John's AZ, predicted that on this date the secret chambers of the Pyramid at Giza will be opened. Its secrets will be revealed and Satan will become a publicly known figure. The American militia will engage in a massive war at this time. Thomas Chase predicted that the Y2K bug would cause a worldwide electrical failure, trigger a world economic depression, and bring on the Antichrist. 2 Hundreds of villagers in Papua New Guinea have joined the Rainbow Church movement which predicted that the world will be plunged into darkness on JAN-1. However, by financially supporting the church, its members would be spared from the chaos of the millennium and will eventually be rewarded. Early 2000: In the Weekly World News for 1999-DEC-21, Nick Mann reported that thousands of Christians have reported sightings of of angels swarming to the Holy Land. He predicts that "...Jesus Christ is coming home...certainly within a few months." 2000-JAN-3: Gary North, a Christian Reconstructionist, predicted a doomsday - a collapse of civilization at or before this day. 2000-JAN-11: According to Weekly World News of 1997-NOV-18, the CIA has caught a space alien who had crash-landed on 1997-JUN-20 in a New Mexico desert. He is from a species that is considerably more developed, both mentally and spiritually, than humanity. Earth will be the next in line! 2000-JAN: According to Weekly World News for 1999-APR-27, Edgar Cayce predicted that a cosmic storm will hit the earth at this time. Winds of 1,000 miles per hour and tremendous swings in temperature will kill millions. 2000-MAR: The numbers of solar flares on the surface of the sun goes through an approximately 11 year cycle. This number reached a peak around 1999-MAR. It was suggested that this peak might cause electrical power failures, which might trigger other disasters. The didn't. 2000-MAY: Ronald O'Brien had prophesized that a dark cross would be suspended in the stratosphere between JAN-19 and JAN-31. His next prophecy was for Garabandal, Spain: all those present would be cured of infirmities and disabilities. Finally, after April, Armageddon will come. Four billion humans will die, unless the world turns to God and follows true Roman Catholicism. 2000-SPRING: According to the Weekly World News for 1999-DEC-14, long lost "Bethlehem Prophecies" predicted that massive solar flares would scorch the sky. They were to be stronger than any previously observed. As many as a billion people would have been permanently blinded. There were many solar flares; there always are at this stage in the solar flare cycle. None of record-breaking strength. 2000-MAY-5: The book "5/5/2000 - Ice, the Ultimate Disaster," described how the first alignment of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn in 6,000 years would cause total devastation. Ice buildup at the south pole would upset the world's axis, sending trillions of tons of ice and water sweeping over the planet. The cover illustration shows an Egyptian pyramid surrounded by ice and lightning. The author believes that mathematical study of the Great Pyrami9d indicates that it contains an encoded message left by unknown persons who survived a similar catastrophe millennia earlier. Actually, the planets were not really lined up. They will merely appear to be located within a 19.5 degree sector of the sky, as viewed from the earth. A similar alignment happened on 1962-FEB-5 when the planets were in an even tighter configuration: 18.8 degrees. It will occur again on 2040-SEP-8 when the planets align to within 8.3 degrees. The only effect that scientists believed would happen would be an average increase in the ocean tides by 0.04 millimeter -- an immeasurably small amount. 2000-MAY-17: Rebecca Harrison -- apparently a woman -- a.k.a. St. John -- a man --predicted that Jesus would return on this date. Three years later, on 2003-JUN, Armageddon will take place. 2000-MAY-31: The Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in front of Taurus occurred on this date. Some consider this to be the return of the Star of Bethlehem, like in 7.B.C. Some people expected a supernatural event comparable to the birth of Jesus. None happened. 2000-JUN-11: Marilyn Agee predicts at the Rapture will occur on this date. Later she postponed the date to JUN-20, JUL-9, and AUG-20. When the rapture did not happen on any of these dates, she apparently gave up. 2000-Summer: According to Weekly World News for 1999-APR-27, Mother Seaton (Elizabeth Ann Seaton) predicted in the early 19th century that Washington DC will be bathed in an evil stench which comes from the bowels of Hell. The political leaders who stay behind in the city will be driven mad. [It is very tempting to comment on this] 2000-JUL: According to Weekly World News for 1999-APR-27, a scroll written by the great Chinese philosopher Confucius predicts that a massive solar flare will erupt and bathe the earth with enormous amounts of energy. This will burn and blind millions of people, worldwide. 2000-JUL: Based on the precictions of Gordon Scallion, Nostradamus, and Mother Shipton, Melody Mehta predicted that the moon Phobos will have been displaced from its orbit around Mars by a passing comet and will strike Earth. 2000-JUL-7: On the basis of some Bible verses, Nostradamus and evidence related to "the grays" (a species of Extra-terrestrials often discussed by UFO groups) Robert Hallman predicts the rapture on this date. He describes "the grays" as "Satan's soldiers." 2000-AUG-20: Based on the book of Daniel, "Ephraim" predicted that the Battle of Armageddon would begin on this date. He later postponed it to SEP-30. Still no luck. 2000-SEP-6: Counting seven years forward from 1993-SEP-13, the date of the peace accord between Israel and Palestine, Daniel Adam Millar predicted that the Antichrist will declare himself God and start the battle of Armageddon. 2000-SEP-16: Phil Stone believes that the biblical story of the Exodus will be replayed on a world-wide basis for four days, starting on this date. There will be a massive increase in the level of the oceans, causing catastrophic loss of life. 2000-SEP-21: Dan Millar, mentioned above, estimates this date as that of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Four events will happen on that day, a Thursday. 2000-SEP: Efraim Genootshap claims to be the reincarnation of the biblical prophet Elija. He believes that God has given him the responsibility of gathering the lost twelve tribes of Israel from among western-European nations, in preparation for the Tribulation period. He leads the Efriam Society, a Netherlands based Christian group. They predicted that the rapture would occur this month. 2000-SEP/OCT: Michael Rood predicted that the nations of Gog and Magog, as described in the Bible, will attack Israel sometime between the end of September and OCT-28. The "Day of the Lord" would begin on the Feast of Trumpets in the fall of that year. 6 2000-OCT-14: Yisrayl Hawkins, the leader of the House of Yahweh taught that the Israeli Peace Accord of 1993-OCT-13 marked the start of the 7 year period of tribulation. This will time the second coming of Jesus on 2000-OCT-14. 2000-OCT-18: The Honorable Reverend Caleb Solar, with tongue firmly in cheek, was convinced that on this date [to be known as Quellish (Let it Come!)] a cosmic flood known as "El Agua" will drown all but a chosen few - namely the followers of Caleb Solar. 2000-OCT: Jim Searcy, pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian church predicted the end of the world during this month. He also has concluded that Prince Charles is the Antichrist. 2000-OCT-1: Byron Weeks predicted that all Americans would have been issued a National ID card by this date. Martial law would be proclaimed before the end of October. The new world government would have started to round up separatists and patriots. The U.S. would be plunged into nuclear war and be destroyed. 2000-NOV: According to Weekly World News for 1999-APR-27, Nostradamus predicted that a giant asteroid would hit the earth late this month. This would start fires that will burn up the entire planet. 2000-late: The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a Mormon polygamist splinter group had allegedly predicted the end of the world in a few days or months after mid-2000-SEP. Hundreds of members pulled their children out of the public schools and are home schooling them, perhaps in anticipation of the apocalypse. Former members have reported that church leaders preached that the towns along the Utah-Arizona border will be lifted into the sky. The splinter group was founded in 1929 and has been excommunicated from the Salt Lake City-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because of their practice of polygyny. 3 2000-DEC (late): The Bible talks about heavenly signs that will precede the end of the world. Some prophesized that the eclipse of the sun on 2000-DEC-25 was one of these signs, and that the end of the world would follow shortly after. This prophecy was reinforced by a massive solar flare in late December, which produced remarkable displays of the Northern Lights about Christmas time. Also, a small asteroid (about the size of a football field) was scheduled to pass by the earth some 800,000 km (500,000 miles) away. This is only about twice the distance from the earth to the moon. Finally, the full moon of 2001-JAN-09 will be the brightest since 1912. 2000-DEC-25: According to the 1997-JUN-24 issue of Sun Magazine Pope John XXIII predicted in 1962 that Christ would appear in the sky over New York City. Jesus was expected to announce the creation of a 1000-year paradise. References :
