  So what would you find if you only read the Bible?...........

  i tried this a few years ago.

  i read the gospels right before the memorial.

  jesus, i noticed, did not answer some questions his friends asked him.

  If man wrote the bible then man is a lier! If God had man write the bible and He is all powerful it doesn't matter if you disagree. On the other hand, if there is a God and He is all powerful and you call Him a lier and He allows you to then perhaps there more to the story?

  A few gems from a recent Sunday talk

  as i sit at the meeting on sunday mornings, it never ceases to amaze me as i look around at the people.

  and wonder are these people brain dead?

  an elder recently made these comments at the meeting:.

  There is no faithful and discreet slave! The body of Chirst and the feeding of others is a myth. This is a corporation that is run by GB anyone writing is in complete conformity to the corporation. If an anointed person not of the GB tried to write and artical they would be consider out of line and possibly disfellowshipped.

  Sorry - 1918/1919 again...

  this story of how jesus supposedly inspected earth in 1918 and as a result chose the bible students to be his people in 1919 (since they were the only true christians) is rather important to me.. we have discussed previously to some extent how they at that time believed a lot of things that jws no longer believe; for instance they still celebrated christmas and russel was the entire faithful and discreet slave.. however - the reason i raise the topic again, is to ask what things did they believe in 1919 that one could say would truly separate them from all other denominations?.

  i guess they used the name jehovah.

  i guess they didn't believe in the trinity(?).

  What's OK/ What's not... CONFUSING!

  my mil who is an active witness, just made each of her kids and spouses a huge tray of christmas cookies wrapped with red and green bows and delivered them christmas eve day.

  what would the elders think of this?

  i get so confused as to what's ok with them and what's not ok. it all seems very contradictory to me and they basically make excuses to do as they please, but criticize everyone else for say, letting their kid watch harry potter.

  Any time a person tries to serve God through "works of law" it is self-rightness and that has nothing to do with common sence or sanity.

  It much like a judge that judges people for breaking the law knowing that he has done the same thing he justifies his actions by his position. He only compounds the sickness when he hates the criminal as sub-human for their acts.

  i have a question, in the past many of you have bemoaned having to give a # 4 or 6 talk for instance.

  are these the talks you were talking about?

  It really doesn't matter that a person changes the information because it will have the same results, that is, people in the org. cannot think outside the teachings anyway. On the other hand, if they really changed the talk to a teaching of "false regilion" they would be disfellowshipped if they weren't repented.
