ok so our dc was last week and we live about an hour and a half away from the meeting site.
so earlier in the year i heard my wife mention something about staying near by in a hotel.
now i'm thinking what the hell in a major city with several people shes going to have to get 2 rooms and the cost is going to be crazy high.
You might be more effective in getting her to listen to you if you appeal to her sensibilities(yes, she has them, they're just buried under tons of wt brain controls). For instance - instead of saying "That's freakin' CRAZY! You're freakin' delusional and the wt 's freakin' CRAZY!" - you might try, "Honey, let's talk about this - does it really make sense, since we live so close, to spend extra money on motel rooms when you can easily drive the distance every day?"

on the basis that most of us realise the w.t wasnt really the best " job" or way to spend our days, it would be fun to find out what people would really have liked to have done with there lifes and if this is still possible.

When I was young I wanted to be an art teacher. A baby got in the way, lol. Now that baby is 40, so it's probably too late to pursue that now.
I've always wanted to build rustic furniture. I love doing a lot of things, but woodworking is my favorite and most satisfying. It's probably not too late for me to become a 'rock star' of rustic woodworking, I guess. :)
I don't think I'll ever be too old to nail sticks together to make a bench or a planter. :P

One told me at the time he was a district-overseer in Puerto Rico and that missionary took him to bible-studies, he just let the missionary go into the house and told him it was to hot to get out, "you do your study and I will read the newspaper",... in the car with the A/C on. So what kind of person does that? Ray Franz is a frikkin' hero, imo! Everyone has off days for heaven's sake. I always speak well of my mother, but everyone knows she's had her not-so-nice moments. It doesn't take a cultist mentality to understand the difference.
So IF Ray Franz had started his own legalistic, authoritarian religion of which we were all dues-paying members, then yes, it would be like "getting from one cult to another".

apparently a third of humans are photic sneezers.
although the exact mechanism isn't fully understood it may be that a strong signal in the optic nerve can stimulte a nearby branch of the trigeminal nerve.. its time to come out the closet and be proud of your crossed wires.. ....
I'm an allergic sneezer. Pollen can make me sneeze so many times in a row that I can hardly catch a breath between. Glad I'm not a photic sneezer too, that'd be too much. "God bless"? How 'bout, "You're soooooo good-lookin'!" ;)

i was alone at the new branch construction site in ticuantepe (nicaragua).
everybody had taken off for a weekend assembly in the capital and it was my turn to have watchman duty and guard the site.
we had dogs and i only had to walk around the perimeters and check all the gates and entrances.. suddenly a young boy appeared at the main gate, breathless and visibly nervous.
Thank you, BluePill - that was thought-provoking. I've long believed the WT is built on fear - fear of death, yes, but also fear of LIFE.
