Why Entertainment Got Banned in the Watchtower
by WTWizard inthere is a thread with the resolution that, among other things, effectively banned entertainment, putting it in the same league as porn and drunkenness.
but why would they ban entertainment?
for sure it can't all be dirty!.

Will the Real Estate Crash Affect the Watchtower?
by WTWizard ini have heard about all the money that the watchtower society stands to make on all its real estate holdings.
and that's bad news.
with donations going down and lawsuits going up, and the need in nigeria, they are going to need all the money from the real estate that they can get.. there is good news to this, though it may come with a price if you are selling a house.

The Spanking Hall?

to compare, look at other churches.
most of them have sunday school, and this is geared to children that are not able to really comprehend the deeper things.

Albums, Tapes, or Videos You Had to Throw Away?
by WTWizard inthere are so many songs that the watchtower society says are "bad".
they are the ones that hint on sexual immorality, violence, drugs, or that have reference to devil worship.
or the ones that have swearing in them, which seems to be common these days.. what really gets me is how they find such petty things wrong with songs that they basically want to clean out your whole library and make you listen to kingdumb s*** all the time.

Why No Education for Jehovah's Witnesses

the first is that education takes time away from the ministry.
if they take time to go to college, that is time that can't be used to go in the ministry, and "lives are at stake".

Children Do Not Get Enough Sleep in Watchtower
by WTWizard inthis past memorial was an exercise in waste for most people.
drive to the hall, fight for a parking space, get booted out of your seat, and then listen to a stale talk for 45 minutes.
then the big event: passing the plate of crackers and glass of spoiled grape juice.

The Kingdumb Melodies
by WTWizard inone of the things i find distasteful is what the witnesses' taste for music is.
they have the same 225 songs that they had since 1984. and many of those were carried from the previous book.. what i noticed while i was there is that none of the songs are really music.
they are so poorly written and performed that i think whoever was in charge of it just threw it together.

What To Enjoy About Field Service?

you get up at 4:30 or 5:00 in the morning to make it to the kingdumb hell at 5:30 in the morning (since that feb 2004 kingdumb misery, they want everyone to meet for street work at this time).
a quick discussion of the text, misapplying it to fit the misery, and then prayer and we're off.

Speculating on New Rules in 2008 and Beyond
by WTWizard ini have read on this site about some of the weird new changes ahead for the watchtower society.
the thread www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/115757/1.ashx had a resolution that effectively banned entertainment, and i doubt that any of the witnesses that were present at last summer's assembly where this was presented even realized it.. then i read that they were going to split the watchtower magazine, giving us a public (showcase) edition and a study (kool-aid) edition.
the study articles would not be open for public scrutiny, which means they are going to beat up on the witnesses without anyone on the outside realizing it (i sure hope blondie continues to get her supply of study articles so she can put up those comments you will not hear at the study).. here are some of my predictions of what might come out of this.
