Is the Watchtower Society Really God's Organization?
by wannabe inis the watchtower society really god's organization?.
the governing body of the watchtower society, makes the claim that they are god's, 'spirit directed organization', god's 'prophet, or mouthpiece'.
one would suppose that an organization that claims to know all the truths of the bible, would know that the coming prophet like moses, who was appointed over jehovah's house in the days of the israelite nation, would also know, that the coming prophet like moses, would be the one appointed over god's house when he arrived on the scene, when the due time arrived for the new covenant to go into force.

Stay At Home Moms/Dads
by cognac ini have a 3 and 1 year old.
hubby is a stay at home dad and i take care of the bills.
i have to, cause instead of working on his career when he was younger, he decided to pioneer- that is something that now i have to pay the price for which really sucks.. i feel that since i pay the bills, it's his job to cook and do all of the cleaning.

What exactly is the product that a pioneer produces, besides punching in hours on a clock? I can't imagine it would prepare anyone for a useful productive job in the real world, so the dude is at a disadvantage in the real world.
I think the exact division of labor in a home is negotiable, based on time available, skills and aptitudes, but for harmony everyone should pull their weight and be cheerful about it. The breadwinner is the one up at bat and other people would be wise to be a support team by getting household things done, having things prepared to accomodate the breadwinner's time schedule, and making wise spending and saving choices to get the best value from the household income. If this is not being done, there will likely be huge imbalances and resentment in the home. It sounds like the dude needs to step up to the plate and do his part, but it is important that you articulate what you want and what you think is fair, and an impartial counselor could help a lot with this by being a sort of referee. I tell you from experience, this needs to be fixed as soon as you can.

Are We the Only Life in this vast Galaxy?
by frankiespeakin in.
well i say the same condition for life evolving are relatively repeated over and over again in perhpas billions of solar systems with different combinations of chemical reactions producing all kind of self replicating molecules not just carbon based or dna based.
many stars having a much earlier formation and intelligent life much more before our earth was formed billions of years ago.. .

I've had conversations with my hubby on this topic. I say HOW THE HECK can you say there isn't other life out there? JWs are taught that because of the issue of universal sovereignty being played out on this planet, there couldn't be life on other planets. Pfffft. My husband says Jehovah created this vast universe with countless billions of stars and who knows how many other planets so that they could be for ours and the angels enjoyment. That is, IMO ridiculous. To say that we are the only planet that has life in this mind-bogglingly vast universe is so small-minded. Hubby won't consider the possibility because it messes with his Watchtower view. Can't have that, can we?
The problem with the Watchtower is that they have said things in print that destroyed their credibility on this topic. They claimed that Jehovah Lives near the star Alcyone in the Pleiades, and that the universe revolves around it. Problem is, if Rutherford had come off a drunk long enough and cracked open an astronomy book, he would have learned that the Pleiades is farther from the center of the galaxy than the Sun is. What the Watchtower did not know was the number of exoplanets in other star systems that have been found in the last 20 years. Planets are very common around stars, and if Jehovah made the earth for human to live on, then why would he make those hundreds of planets that we could never see or enjoy? At best, we can see about 6000 stars without a telescope, so billions of billions of them would never be visible to us. They were not created for us to enjoy. The Watchtower claim of there being no life elsewhere has no factual basis.

How Suicidal Thoughts can take over your Life.
by Lady Lee inhow suicidal thoughts can take over your life.. i lived most of my life thinking about suicide.
i have clear memories when i was 8 years old thinking about what it would be like to die.
i went to sleep every night of my young childhood saying the prayer:.

My death thoughts are not about anything self inflicted. They are more about being on my bike and getting cut down in traffic. It would happen fast, just an "oh sh!t" moment and it's over, so no prolonged suffering. The other scenario is I have a bad heart and I get cut down suddenly from that. Another one is something that pops in my brain and I have a massive stroke. I don't worry about it or obsess. It is just an awareness of the sword always handing over my head, suspended by a tether. 3 years ago I was cut down in traffic on my scooter, very sudden, but I got back up. A half second difference of geometry could have been fatal.

While he was delivering his script, he sounded like a Bible banging hater from central casting. Then when he fumbled with his notes, and changed course he really drove his point home. It was amazing, and I had to share it. Yes, MrsJones, I saw you put it on facebook too. Good deal!

Phil Snider of the Brentwood Christian Church lashed out at the council for "inviting the judgement of God upon our land" by making "special rights for gays and lesbians."
He goes on to invoke the bible and morality and the end of days a few more times before suddenly appearing to lose his train of thought.
And then something pretty amazing happens.
All I can say is, Wow!
