  What childhood toys do you remember and what memories do they bring back?

  i am around 40 years old and i only remember 2 childhood toys.

  one was a batman thing that did not fly.

  i was traumatised.

  We can date people by their toys!

  So true. I was noticing the toys mentioned and guessing at what decade the owner grew up in. I like toys from the 1950s and 1960s that are made from metal.

  I tended to like toys that I could use to make other things with. Watercolors and modeling clay were also favorites. I had a "pizza oven" that was like an easy bake oven, but marketed for boys. It was fun, but I just graduated to a real kitchen since I was unsupervised a lot, and that worked out okay.

  I had a printing press, published an underground newspaper at my school, and I also had a radio broadcaster. These items were the start of my early media empire, which generally got me started on a life of mayhem and mischief.

  Okay Folks, it's Time to be like ....Canada

  get on the anti gun bandwagon,.

  it is not the middle ages, the rrvolutinary or civil war time- it's now - 2012 and soon to be 2013. america needs to become like canada, now now now.

  you can argue all you want, but if you can't open your eyes, you have some deep dark issues that require a shrink.. i will not answer you or taunt you.

  I don't have a need for guns, but Canada has a couple other problems that would be challenging for me.

  It is too far north, and the dark winters would likely drive me to drink, or worse. I need my longer sunny days.

  There is nothing like the first amendment, which is as important to me as the second amendment is to some gun owners. I would have a difficult time living with those repressive laws about free speech and banned books.

  It would be great to have a summer home there, say in BC or the Rockies. I could keep my mouth shut that long, and sneak e-books in via dropbox or an encrypted flash drive.

  One day dad tried to kill us all

  that's right, my dad tried to kill everyone in our house back in 1980. after the attempt was unsuccessful he pretended it was a boneheaded accident.

  one day while we were living in houston we were all told to go take a nap in our bedrooms.

  the next thing i remember was waking up and being told to go outside and sit in the yard.

  I have been held at gunpoint, threatened to be killed, and been shot at in a seperate incident.

  the recent socal rain storms had me needing to go to a launrdomat to dry some clothes.

  so i get inside and see that one of the friendly neighborhood jehovah's witnesses has left a little dish of spiritual food.

  being the benevolent soul that i am, i took my handy pen and added some additional spice to the bland spiritual food offered by the watchtower.. .

  Nice, except the name of this site is www.jehovahs-witness.net and not "witness es " as you wrote...

  Yah, it was done very spontaneous on the fly. 2 out of 3 isn't bad.

  Why do the Jehovah's Witnesses agree with certain beliefs and not others especially coming from someone they quote most often?

  of course i am talking about tertullian.

  i presented this topic to jehovah's witnesses one time and they were not able to clearly explain why.

  tertullian held certain beliefs contrary to the jws but there are some things the jws do agree with and often quote them in their articles.

  This is exactly the situation you would expect from someone who develops doctrine in a backward manner, which is to formulate doctrine first and then cherry pick sources to support the doctrine.

  During my study I brought this up a few times. A point of doctrine would be brought up and some early church personality would be quoted. Then I would take some other doctrine that the person supported that is not okay by WT standards, and point out that their supporter also supported a doctrine that is held by "Babylon the Great". Uncomfortable squirming would occur. No satisfactory explanation was forthcoming.

  Well it is. The Watchtower told me so, and it happened to get that right.

  

  They know a lot about false religion, and I know a lot about them.

  

  We can't let the children get misled by the pretty pages full of lies.

  "if it was'nt for the preaching work there would be millions more witnesses" - he was saying jehovah wants quality not quantity.. si i'm thinking, what's the difference as long as he has a people that live by bible standards and are moral.

  maybe sharing their hope and faith with friends and relatives on a casual basis?

  Why Isn't the USA the Safest Country in the World With All the Guns

  we have 9 guns for every 10 people in this country.

  since more guns = better protection, i keep asking myself why there is so much gun violence here ???.

  i don't see such violence in canada, australia, europe, japan and other so-called "advanced" countries.. what is wrong with us here.

  Automatic assault rifles have been heavily regulated in America, and for most people, illegal to possess for almost 80 years.
