Perhaps the Papacy will Peter out.
No apologies folks, I couldn't let this one go by.
i remember reading somewhere in regards to a a 'prophet' of sorts who had predicted all the popes that have been chosen.. his 'prophecy' stated that the next pope (since benedict has resigned) would be the last before the 'end' would come.
his name would be pope peter.. let's see what happens.
we are suppose to know who the next pope will be before easter..
Perhaps the Papacy will Peter out.
No apologies folks, I couldn't let this one go by.
ok im looking for a specific religion and culture that has no flood story.
someone claimed that every religion/culture has a flood story.
i disagree but i want to have a reference..
One thing I learned way back in 5th grade geography was that humans would settle near water, coastlines, lakes and river valleys, because of the transportation, agriculture and fishing that water provides. Populations would flourish there, and those are the cradles of great civilizations. Well guess what? Bodies of water are prone to flooding. These floods run in cycles, with some cycles being a century or more. With this in mind, it would be hard to find any significant culture that did NOT have a flood story. Apparently a 5th grade education trumps an Awake University degree.
what is the meaning of your baptism?
to whom do you belong?
the book, what does the bible really teach?
The Bible Teach book is a poorly written fail, on so many levels. It is shown here to also be a bait and switch method of teaching. Given this level of obvious duplicity, there is NO WAY that the Watchtower is run by honest but misguided individuals. They are cunning and crafty in their duplicity.
i heard very few if any, of the new members on the governing body actually go out in field service more than three hours a month.
is there a reason why the governing body would excuse themselves from the master's commandments?
jesus christ never said "spending time writing rules and regulations" was part of matthew 28. .
The complete text of the great commision in Matthew 28 would have JWs baptizing people. So whether a governing body person or R&F person, if you haven't baptized someone then you are not properly doing the preaching work. And dunking them in the name of an organization doesn't count for squat with the Big Guy.
The Great Commission
16 But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 [e]Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you [f]always, even to the end of the age.”
around the us, 6th graders (and alot of other grades) are preparing for this spring's standardized testing.
when "we" grew up, the standardized tests were straigh forward math problems.
the standardized math test is now only 16 questions long, but they are all long, drawn out word problems.
I remember looking over my son's math homework over 10 years ago. This is in California. They had what I called "feelgood" math. I typical question would be something like this:
Henry had 7 chickens and 3 of them escaped the pen. How do you feel about that?
I am not kidding. California had this goofy CLAS test that was the rage back in the day. It was a fad that did nothing to improve anything. It came and went, but not after being a massive rathole for money to drain into.
If you want to understand why American education is such a bust, then I suggest you read this free ebook.
well on wednesday i am going to be getting my first tattoo.
i have had this particular piece of art that i have wanted for years but was too afraid to put it to skin as it will require a great amount of detail.
but i finally decided to go for it.
It seems the guys who went off to world war the second got tattoos and then it fell out of favor for a generation, so myself and none of my siblings have any ink, but many of the various children do.

canadians are invited to explain this, if it isn't any big secret.
.
Three Canadian men got the car wash of their young lives Tuesday.
The men, all 20, stripped, loaded themselves in a shopping cart, set the automatic car wash in Abbotsford, British Columbia, to “typhoon” or “super typhoon” and went in, according to The Vancouver Sun.
I think being males between 15-25 and drunk are adequate to explain their activities, and it is a minor point that they happen to be Canadian. Evidently, that is universal male behavior.

I saw that and figured they were geocaching at night. That is more involved than a stroll, as they would search around in circles when they got to the cache site, which could look suspicious to muggles. (That is you non-caching people)

something i came to understand that the worldwide church of god did effectively was to cut people off from from their feelings and intellect in favor of the "appropriate" thoughts and feelings.. how they did this was by frequently emphasizing these two verses:.
proverbs 3:5 - trust in the lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.. jeremiah 17:9 - the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?.
by means of these two verses i was taught not to trust myself with regards to either my ability to reason or if my gut was telling me something was wrong.. i was wondering if these two verses were emphasized for jws as well..
(Jeremiah 10:23) I well know, O Jehovah, that to earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.
It follows logically that if as a human I am unable to direct my steps, then any other human would be unqualified to direct mine as well.
