Anyone in Houston, TX area....

i have a lengthy 10 hour layover in houston (iah) on friday the 26th.
it is during the day, so i would like to find something to do and do some exploring between about 7 am and 1 pm.

Now it was a day later and I am delighted with how that was an excellent stopover. I got to see a sample of the birds and wildlife in Houston, and an exhibit of some of the fine art there. Instead of the airport terminal, I got to view Egyptian stone carvings that predated Moses, 13th century Persian metalwok, texties and ceramics, and also had an athentic Texas BBQ sandwich. Much gratitiude to neverscreamagain for taking his time to show me around, thanks again.

July 2013 Watchtower "Should You Trust Religion?"
by ilikecheese ini read this article while i was looking at the other magazine you guys were talking about.
they were being really stupid and generalizing about the other religions they were talking about again.
my favorite bit was where someone was saying that they went to a church that passed the offering plate around three times and that they were expected to put money in it each time.

When I was a lad I went to a Church of Christ. It is a pretty bland church as far as ornate trappings. There was a collection plate passed around once a week on Sunday. Money would appear in it but no one paid much attention to who or how much was being contributed. There was a board at the front with attendance and contribution numbers for the previous week and for the month. It has been the same at most churches I have attended. Some would have an extra offering now and then, others didn't.
I will tell you one thing I never saw in any church. I never saw them have a brochure shaking you down for your stocks, investments, jewelry or real estate. A plate might get some pocket change, some bills and an occasional check, but that is chump change compared to the death shakedown would yield, so why are they criticizing that?

Here's the deal. I have a lengthy 10 hour layover in Houston (IAH) on Friday the 26th. It is during the day, so I would like to find something to do and do some exploring between about 7 am and 1 pm. I am up for anything legal and respectable during that time. I get along well with anyone of almost any age. If there are no takers, I will likely go find some geocaches nearby and look for some local eatery, but it would be fun to have some company. I just wanted to throw this out there since I will be in the area. I have met only one person from this forum, and that would be the lovely LouBelle, who would vouch that I am a living flesh and blood real person (as I would vouch for her).

It's true. Education in the US is about dumbing down children and shaping their attitudes, and it gets harder to find young people who actually have reading and math skills.
