there was a thread here a while back on the bogus experiences at the assemblies about how jehovah stepped in just when a pioneer has $0, and oh, boy, were we blessed.......yet whenver bad things happen, even when praying for help, like someone gets killed, the 'we put in 75 hours of service and jehovah fed us' theory turns idiotic..

anyone remember that thread...or wanna give me some word power over those pathetic experiences....just got one via email from a relative and really want to throw back a doozy to make him think..

if jehovah really answered the prayers of 'his people' and the jws were 'his people', wouldn't they have been saved from concentration camps? depression? suicide?

no, then he was letting them be tested, but not more than they could endure.

a friend of mine from years ago who is no longer my friend was having huge financial problems, his credit cards were maxed and his wife was pioneering. i told him to get his wife to work instead of pioneer. i may as well have told him to join the church of satan.

Ever hear convincing testimony that d'f'ing is a "loving arrangement"?

just wondering, cuz it's so often espoused by those doing the shunning that disfellowshipping is a "loving arrangement," and there must be tons of "testimonial" literature from the borg saying so; however, when i was a jw, i don't recall ever once hearing a previously d'f''ed one giving witness to how loving it was.

re: suicide, i agree. i just wish we could get specific numbers, but even in those specific numbers, the drones will go, 'oh, they didn't have the holy spirit'.

unfortunately, yes, i've heard from a few df'ed who were reinstated about how great it was to be df'ed and how it turned their life around and was a loving arrangement.

i believe it's a natural reaction to a traumatic experience, like never wanting to go to jail again and thinking not talking bad about it to people who can report you to the authorities will keep you away.

i know there is a lot of buzz due to the nbc story.

i thought i'd share my experience as an elder dealing with abuse.. i attended 23 different congregations in my life and served as an elder or ms in 9 of them.

is any of this documented in letters, or was this something that was relayed via oral discussions where elders were to take notes.

instead of 'announcing jehovah's kingdom' as the WT tagline it should say, 'covering our legal a$$e$'.

Finally I get to introduce myself .

on october 6th i registered in this forum, and gave a brief description of my personal experience, promising i would expand later.

the time has gone by very rapidly, other different priorities have kept me away from this forum, which i will not cover otherwise i would take even more time going down to the core of the subject.

my objective, in this forum, is to be of help to others who might be at a loss and who are confronted with the difficult issue of being loyal or leave the organization.

great to have you nick. excellent experience and very fortunate that your whole family understood your decision and went with you.

a lot of us here still have family who can't shake it and conflict arises.

one of the main reasons i left was b/c when there was 'new light' that directly affected something where the elders harrased my family about only a few years earlier, it was only seen as 'new light', and there were no apologies to my family for how they were treated when they chose to seek therapy for suicide attempts and depression. that's when i realized every arrow points outward from the elders, COs and DOs and governing body. there is never humility shown. i believe some want to show it, but the legality and efforts to cover their a$$es are more important than resolving and comforting individuals adversly treated.

even recently, when i was told of the new arrangement for elders to bring df'ed ones back into the organization quicker...the WT didn't apologize for its policy of many years, but pointed the direction at the elders, like they've been wrong all along kind of thing.

if an individual did that, it would be seen as abusive, alcoholic behaviour, never taking responsibility for their actions and always blaming someone else.

through years of meditating on the many experiences i witnessed and was a part of in the organization, 95% of the time no responsibility has ever been taken from the top...that might be 100% b/c i never saw any humility, but i give the benefit of the doubt.

i can't wait to hear your experiences of your years as an elder and how you might see certain things differently now.

and i'm very glad you figured out the paragraph tag. :)

things i have always wondered about jws but never asked my boyfriend about (because i thought i would sound stupid!)...

- what goes on at jw wedding ceremonies?

are they that much different from other christian weddings?.

when i was 'in', if you weren't a jw, God will kill you.

i guess very recently they've stopped stressing that (only God knows who he will murder), BUT, God will kill you for sure if you were a jw once, and now don't believe.

either way, God is fond of killing people and jws can't wait for it to happen.

of course some jws see beyond this and hope the watchtower society gets less idiotic, so they stay 'in', and unfortunately under-education and studying anything for yourself outside of the publications of the watchtower society, probably one of the most successful publishing companies on the planet, is discouraged.

i'm hoping my agent can successfully pitch my novel to the watchtower society as it will be a #1 best seller like the rest of their publications going out to hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people.

i have been thinking how useful it would be if we had an independent news site that would basically rival the jw-media page and have the latest jw related news sourced either from individuals/sites such as this one.

however it wouldn't have a forum.

any thoughts?

also, too many web sites subscribe to the notion that interactivity is good...but i'm still a fan of web media dictatorships, aka, no forums, no comments, just look at my beautiful news. :)

not to diss interactivity b/c i'm a fan of that as well, just not every web site needs it.

Is Smoking the practice of Spiritism?

hi guys,.

i was raised as a jw and was baptised when i was 16. i am now 35 and have finally realised that "the truth" is actually the opposite.. my family has a long history of mental illness and i am "lucky" to only suffer deppression and panic attacks.i believe what i was taught as truth has effected me adversely.

e.g " you won't have to go to school son, armageddon will be here before then.

just knowing fellow humans share your experience and you're not weird for having panic and anxiety is actually a great help.
