If your God were in charge...
by nvrgnbk inwhat would the world be like?.
for example, today orthodox jews and christians don't kill witches and homosexuals because they can't legally.. but if things were as their god decreed in the bible, they'd be dead.. islam, when it has enough power to enforce it's laws, summarily kills and dismembers those that offend allah.. so if you're unhappy with all the gays and druggies and atheists and witches and hippies, are you secretly longing for the day when your deity of choice exterminates them?.

Why all the Testing?
by zack inthe bible is full of stories about god needing to test people, either as individuals or as a group, the most notorious being the testing.
of adam and eve.. why does an omnipotent and omniscient being need to "test" his creation?
are we like products in a factory?

Makes you wonder, how many times does god have to exterminate the majority of the earth's population (flood, impending armeggedon)
before god realizes that humans are his one huge mistake and that humans will never be perfect?
Perfectionist's are never satisfied, and are never happy.
The only way humans will attain perfection is if God goes back to the drawing board and creates in humans the inability to make mistakes.
Where is the logic in testing a flawed product? The chances of the product giving you a different result -perfect working condition
- is slim to none.
That's all based on the premise that god is real.

by avidbiblereader ini cannot but read many of the posts in which god/jehovah or even christ is ridiculed, mocked and even hated?
so i ask the question why?.

Some have been through much trauma. When they called on God to help them, to rescue them, to provide a way out of the horrendous abuse, when they have supplicated him with sincere faith,with whole-hearted belief that he will help and will save, and god is not there, where does that leave that person?
Bereft, Alone, Abandoned to the human torturer's.
Not that god put this abuse on this person.
But god was no where to be found when they needed him most. Why?
Children have the most purest hearts, with no ulterior motives, correct?
He does not answer them either. Why?
The bible is no comfort when you are being abused and tortured. Yes, it's at the hands of humans, not god, that is understood.
But if god cared, would he not do something? send someone to rescue that child?
That is just one example of why people lose their faith. It is not my personal story.
Mine is purely logistics and evidence that the bible is not god's word.
Have I listened and opened my heart? yes.
Did anyone answer? No. Like I said, I am open to possibilty that I am not special enough to be talked to by god.
So, why is it that you feel the need to defend a god who is there for you but is not there for others?
Maybe he picks and chooses his favourites to bestow his presense on. If you are one of the lucky ones, then good for you!
If God spoke up to at least a crowd of people that can verify they are not insane and just hearing voices, of course I would listen.
Why doesn't he do that?

What's the longest you've spent without going on a computer?
by JH ini don't spend a day without turning on my computer.
sometimes i wonder how long i could go without turning this thing on..... it's true that i have good music downloaded and i enjoy listening to music and i love reading bad news...lol and i also love to have a peek here on jwd and chat now and then.. since the last 5 years, i guess i didn't spend a day without going on a computer.

a saudi court sentenced a woman who had been gang raped to six months in jail and 200 lashes more than doubling her initial penalty for being in the car of a man who was not a relative, a newspaper reported thursday.. the decision by the qatif general court came in a case that had sparked rare debate about the kingdom's justice system when it surfaced more than a year ago.. in its decision wednesday, the court also roughly doubled prison sentences for the seven men convicted of raping the 19-year-old woman, the arab news reported on its english-language web site.. according to arab news, the court said the woman's punishment was increased because of "her attempt to aggravate and influence the judiciary through the media.".
she had initially been sentenced to 90 lashes after being convicting her of violating saudi's rigid laws on segregation of the sexes.. under saudi arabia's interpretation of islamic sharia law, women are not allowed in public in the company of men other than their male relatives.. the initial sentences for the men convicted of the gang rape ranged from 10 months to five years in prison.

It seems that whenever religion does it's dangest to repress the desire for sex,
sexual attacks and molestations increase radically.
Look at the catholic church and not allowing priests to marry, islamic zealots raping women, molestation of children in many religions...etc.
but if you were to go to a nudist colony, have you ever heard of men raping the women because they are naked? I haven't.

first off let's not say that all of us become athiest when leaving.

I am one of the ones that is agnostic/weak atheist not because of any bitterness due to the org,
but because of learning about the historical evidence that shows the bible is written by uninspired men,
as it is full of contradictions and errors. Reading the Bible without org blinders, destroyed my faith.
That is what made me go from believer to unbeliever.
I respect the beliefs of those who have had a spiritual experience.
I haven't....maybe I am not special enough, who knows?
But my logic tells me that either god does not exist, or he died, or he does not care or is unable to fix the world.
If I had the power to fix the world, why wait? wait for what? for more people to be born into misery? A god of love? where?????

2 weeks without internet &
No tv
No radio except in my car.
(stereo speakers were still in storage lol)
No phone.
It felt like I was in a time warp.
(moved sooner than expected and tv, phone, internet were not due to be hooked up until 2 weeks later)

Too bad we can't round up all the men who adhere to this insane religion and drop them off on an island.
And then maybe drop a bomb on them if we all agreed on putting them to death.
Nuking the country only kills the innocent women and children.
Let's get rid of the tyrannical men who are behind these laws.
(Because there are some reasonable Islamic men).

most disturbing movie scene you've seen?
by knock knock ini haven't seen this topic on here so i thought i'd.... hmmm, maybe it's because it's just too disturbing?
to me, the scene in saving private ryan - the two soldiers in the small upstairs room fighting hand to hand to the death (by stabbing).
i think that is the most disturbing thing i've seen on screen and there were plenty just in that film alone.
