i've got a "christian" friend - he's been having a hellofa time - his wife left him about 2 years ago, sued for custody, the wife gives him a hard time about seeing his kid and a whole lot of other things that i won't bore you with.. he know questions gods' existance, simply because god hasn't waved his wand and sorted out his problems.

he keeps quoting scripture and i keep telling him not to take everything so literally in the bible....he is cross with god and of course ranting and raving.. i keep trying to tell him that 1. sometimes nonsense does just happen and it has nothing to do with god.

2. if he truly were christian he would follow god simply so things can go well with him.

I believe we're all walking the same path but we just don't know it - be it via one's religious, spiritual or atheistic beliefs. The end result is the same whether one believes in God or not or even in karma.

I believe this as well.

I think what you get in trouble with, freyd, is YOUR definition of respect.

Below is the definition of respect.

Can you please tell me what you find so difficult about respecting the women you love? (your mother, wife, sister, daughter)

Love and respect go hand in hand. You cannot truly love anyone, unless you respect them.

What is so wrong with holding a woman in high esteem or to honour her?

It is men/boys who are insecure, who feel they are inept, inadequate, or impotent & who are afraid, who do not respect women.

Hi Freyd,

So back to that age old question...

do you really think all women are so shallow so as not be able to love you unless they are getting something in return?

Well, in all relationships there is a give and take.

The only one where that giving and taking of love is slightly unbalanced, and is the relationship between child and parent.

Child needs more love, and parent's job is to provide lots of love and nurishment and comfort and education.

The joy is getting love in return from your child.

The ''payoff'' is seeing your child grow up into a well adjusted succesful adult.

In all romantic relationships, hetero and homosexual alike, there is a balance. A give and take.

When BOTH are giving 100% of themselves - their time, their emotional support, sharing of chores and open communication,

being considerate of one another's sexual and physical needs, - there is happiness and joy for both.

This is how relationships work. It's not about a payoff, it's about a sharing of thoughts, feelings and time, and resources.

I, myself, prefer to be in an equal relationship where we both contribute financially and we both share in the household chores.

That way, there is no ''bread-winner'' and there is no ''house-wife/house-husband''.

Some couples prefer those roles, and that's what makes them happy, more power to them.

The payoff is coming home and being with the person that makes your day, and gives you joy -

and knowing you do that for them too.

i met a witness in town that i know and she actually thought it was the law ie the police that cant do anything about child abuse unless there are 2 or 3 witnesses, how disturbing she is over 50 years old and that naive.

A Question for those of you who run on Empty gas tanks?

i am going to guess there are few to no women who do this.

it has to be mainly guys.....and why take the chance is my question?.

i never go below 1/3 of a tank and refill.
