If your God were in charge...
by nvrgnbk inwhat would the world be like?.
for example, today orthodox jews and christians don't kill witches and homosexuals because they can't legally.. but if things were as their god decreed in the bible, they'd be dead.. islam, when it has enough power to enforce it's laws, summarily kills and dismembers those that offend allah.. so if you're unhappy with all the gays and druggies and atheists and witches and hippies, are you secretly longing for the day when your deity of choice exterminates them?.

My god would be smart enough to send us a book that was clear and easy to understand by all humans from all walks of life.
This book would create unity and harmony and inspire us to love, and bring an end to ignorance and hatred.
My god would also be seen by one and all and make their presense known so that there was NO DOUBT of their existence and love.

most disturbing movie scene you've seen?
by knock knock ini haven't seen this topic on here so i thought i'd.... hmmm, maybe it's because it's just too disturbing?
to me, the scene in saving private ryan - the two soldiers in the small upstairs room fighting hand to hand to the death (by stabbing).
i think that is the most disturbing thing i've seen on screen and there were plenty just in that film alone.

Since we don't live near her to be able to knock on her door and see if she is ok,
we get worried when we don't hear from her.

We are what we are , and the full experience of what we are is all I am putting forth , it has nothing extraordinary to offer, just clarity and understanding, knowing that we are already complete and need nothing other than a very simple understanding of our own true nature to free us from the delusions that cause our suffering in the face of the inevitable .
As to proof what do you mean exactly?
Are you numb to your own sense of what you are?
Do you have a presence of energy in your being?
The fact that you are capable of existing is all the proof I can offer, it is simple beyond belief and if one isn't ready to recieve what is always available then the suffering isn't over for that individual, and more must be experienced.
We are all the same inside , only our story is unique.

News like this just makes me angry
that religion was formed,
that the bible was written,
that the Qu'ran was written.
All those writings have done is created misery and
inspired insane ignorant people to take advantage of innocent, ignorant uneducated persons.
Nothing wrong with believing in god and following the bible or the qu'ran as a personal decision,
it's the leaders of religion and cults who make life miserable for the followers.

Usually those who come to the conclusion that there is no god
do so either because
A) They cannot reconcile all of the suffering and god not doing anything about it,
or
B) They have done research and have found the Bible, to be seriously wanting in the accurate department.
A book that is as riddled with as many contradictions, and scientifically inaccurate details, as the Bible is,
it is hard for many to logically conclude that it was inspired by a much higher, intelligent being.
It takes faith to believe in the Bible as God's word.
I can see the possiblity that we were created, but as for god being around in our day?
I see no reason to believe in a being that does not care enough to stop the suffering of it's creation
God is either dead, or indifferent, or worse - malevolent.
