This is the kind of news my father tried to live for. He had rheumatoid arthritis and hung on to the bitter end in hopes some kind of breakthrough would come along. Of course, he had other problems too: cancer of the prostrate gland, which they didn't remove but scraped the cancers cells off, and congestive heart failure, which is I think the thing that killed him. He also had nodules on his lungs. He died in 1988.

I am lucky to be alive
by happyout ini don't know if anyone noticed since i'm not one of the premier posters, but i've been gone for several weeks.
unfortunately, the reason is i was in a very bad car accident.
i can't give too many details, because i don't want to be identified, but my car was hit by a semi truck on a major freeway during rush hour.

In the past few years, it is now a practice that if you switch to another congregation, you can't take your cards with you. The secretary of the congregation you were associated with will mail your cards to the congregation you switched to.

"Landrew" vs "Borg"
by Stephanus inin classic star trek there was an episode entitled "the return of the archons" where the crew of the enterprise beamed down to a planet where the starship "archon" had last been reported, some time previously.
they found themselves in a stagnated victorian era society of people going mindlessly about their business, rattling off platitudes like "peace be with you, friend" to passers by.
the society turned out to be controlled by a supercomputer which had taken on the name (and projected image) of landrew (or landru), its creator some millennia previously.

You know what Stephanus, I couldn't agree with you more. In fact I wanted to suggest that to this board about the followers of Landreu being more like the organization than the Borg but I figured most people here didn't watch the old Stark Trek episodes and wouldn't know what I was talking about.

I was told by the elders if i proceed with my divorce i will..
by anakinsrise inlose my standing in the congregation, but my duties vanished 2 years ago anyway,no one has commited adultery in the relationship.
and its odd if i had slept with another woman,i could divorce, return to the hall, sit there like a stone for 8 months to a year, get reinstated, and become and elder 1 day.
is that insane or what?

So we know the elements have always existed in the universe.
Panda,
But who made the elements? They didn't just appear--even they had to have a beginning. Otherwise I agree with all that you said.
