  Perhaps you misunderstood. I have absolutely no problem with challenged opinions. Plenty of my opinions are challenged and I don't have a problem challenging other's opinions if I see fit.

  I have a problem with the hostile tone taken, that to me, is ridiculous. You, on the other hand, seem to think that expressing disagreement in any form is suitable. I do not. I believe that we all deserve, at the very least, to be treated with respect as human beings; and all the more so because we have come out of the same dehumanizing emotion sucking cult.

  I think shunning is inhumane and should be stopped. Will has a valid argument in my opinion.

  Legally - I have no clue if anything can ever be done.

  I can't believe people are actually arguing. It's ridiculous. We are veterans of the same hurtful, destuctive war. We should be putting salve on each other's wounds not stabbing each other.

  Must we really take shots at each other and make fun of one another's opinions?

  If I wanted to be around people that tear each other down I would go find a car group and go out in service.

  hi everybody, my name is julie, and this is my first post.. i'm a third generation jw, or at least i was until a two weeks ago, when i was announced as no longer a jw.

  i'm really happy about that, ecstatic in fact, although i'd been a jw all my life, and i'm 37 now.

  i could have disassociated like my friends, but i couldn't be bothered to play their chikdish game, so i let them do it for me.

  Trev told us a little about you not long ago. Any friend of Trev and Linda's is a friend of ours. Thank you for being there for them both. I truly am sorry for your loss as well, I'm sure that Linda was a wonderful friend.

  Need Help.....My assignemnt in school ths week....GO TO A KINGDOM HALL

  ....yes, believe it or not, i do have to sit in on a full meeting on sunday at the local kingdom hall, and do a report on how they run their services.

  i do have a few questions: 1. what id considered approbate dress for females (i will have 2 females with me) 1a.

  do i have to shave my beard to 'blend in' 2. normally to church, i have a brief case with note pads and my bible....is that a tad too much to carry into a hall?

  Wear what you want and don't bother to shave. The fact that you are a "new face" will not allow you to blend in.

  Act like you just moved there and had spoken to JW's before, that's WHY you are there. Don't give info out about yourself - just tell them you will come back.

  A horrible scary thing happened to my daughter. You won't believe this

  my daughter was on her way to work last week and stopped for a milkshake at a fast food restaurant.

  they were caught on tape using the slop bucket they used for cleaning bathrooms etc.

  to empty out the milkshake machine while they cleaned it, and then pour the milkshake mix (in the contaminated slop bucket) back into the machine.. apparently there was also a group of kids from an after school program that had a party there that same day.

  For those hoping to reform the Watchtower

  there have been a number of posts discussing reform in the watchtower, mostly revolving around a letter on this thread.

  i just wanted to put my two cents in on this issue.

  because i am not attached to any of the main doctrines and teachings of the jws, i feel no personal need to reform them.

  Excellent points mini and Drew. I don't believe a reformation is possible or probable.

  I don't believe that the WTBTS EVER had God's ( if there is a God ) backing, and I don't believe that the core doctrines are true enough to even have a basis for reform.

  That being said: I believe that doing what I can to help soften the shock and pain that individuals (that are where I was only a few months ago) feel as they wake up from the mind control is important. I will continue to post here for as long as I can. I also look for opportunities to anti-witness to people not involved so that they never will be.

  There are ways to help people, trying to FIX the WTBTS is not one of them IMHO.

  Meeting RollerDave and seeing his aposta-truck up close

  sometimes when someone new comes on the board and makes a big splash, you wonder if it's all for real.. rollerdave arrived on this board in the last couple months and has lit it up with his insight and wit, including recent experiences dealing with his old family and congregation.. after i pm'd dave here i learned he was indeed the same dave i knew back in a north-side minneapolis kingdom hall oh so many years ago.

  we talked on the phone last weekend and actually got together for the first time last night.

  as i expected he is just as genuine and witty and fun as he shows on this discussion board.

  RollerDave and all the other Rollers - if you all have an apostafest you won't be able to keep me away.

  You know how some people want to go to all the ball fields in America? Or maybe they plan vacations around a new rollercoaster in an amusement park?

  Well - my new goal is to hit every area of the country where Apostafests are held and get to meet as many of the posters here that I can. I met noni in Hocking Hills and I am sooo excited about The Pasta Apostafest in Richmond this week-end.

  I would love to meet you all, but I have to see the Apostatruck with my own eyes!
