I don't think I've chosen a side to be on but I've certainly chosen what side not to be on.

Do you think you have 'chosen sides'?
by AK - Jeff inin a recent online conversation with a current jw [or at least i think this to be true], i was accused of 'being on the wrong side'.. i countered with my opinion that there are thousands of 'sides' - since every religion believes itself to be the 'right side'.
i know that i left one 'side' that is wrong - full of lies, deceptions, and false doctrines.
but i don't consider myself to have taken any other side - that is, i believe myself to be entirely neutral in such matters - i just don't have enough centuries of life to sort out who might have the 'right side'.

What did you think about "apostates" when you were JW?
by Albert Einstein ini spent 17 years in jws, first 11 were very zealous.
i feel very stupid now to admitt - but until several months ago i really believed "apostates" and all people who left jws were kind of arogant, nasty, agresive, proud and i was afraid of getting in touch with them.. i remember finding coc book in a bookstore and (since i was very curious...) i touched it (with a great guilt feeling), opend it, and read it for maybe 2 minutes.... i was so afraid it will affect me somehow badly .... and that i will displease god by doing it .... i felt so bad by sining this way .... now i see there are more kind people among those who left, than in wtbs..... i started meeting some "apostates" in my town, i see they are more reasonable and often more spiritual than jws ... it is like coming out of the darkness ...... could you believe i was such an idiot?.
what about your experience?.

I was a little afraid of the ones I saw at a convention, it was the first time I'd actually seen any. I had disassociated myself several years before that and had just started going back to meetings. I wish I had stopped to chat. It would have saved me from a miserable marriage and another 7 years down the tubes.

Can most Witnesses distinguish between God and the WT Organization?
by BonaFide inyesterday, in one of those conversations i try to have, i talked to an older sister.
she was waiting outside the hall for her ride, so i sat down and talked to her, just about like old times as a witness, theocratic history.
she has been baptized 38 years.. anyway, i was saying about why did some leave in 1975. she replied, "well, they got impatient with jehovah, and they took it out on him by leaving.".

This looks like a good place to introduce myself
by mindmelda inhi, i'm 49 and have been an inactive witness for years now.
i was baptized at age 16 about 33 years ago mainly to please my parents and to fit in, cuz everyone was doing it.
and i was able to answer all those questions in the organization book because i have a near photographic memory, as it turns out.

Difference between Spirit Inspired and Spirit Directed?
by onefootout inthe title says it all.. what arguments have you heard in people trying to defend the org in saying they are 'spirit directed but the writers and gb are not spirit inspired'?.
i have never seen much of a difference.
this seems to be the crux of the matter.
