Bachelor weekend drawing to a close...

got mixed feelings here.. on the one hand, i missed my beck desperately, but on the other i actually had a pretty great weekend.. the china chef was awesome as ever, truck worked, transporting the scooter went without a hitch.. the meetup was awesome!.

i guess we had more of the evil slave than usual, cuz seating was at a premium, good thing i brought my own!

i also brought gopher and my daughter angie (who means to post here but never seems to get around to it) with me in the apostatruck.. i'm sure you all remember my proclamation that the reuben is henceforth the king of sandwiches, well good ol' reuben was on top of his lil' sandwich game saturday!.

dear sirs -.

most likely you and your pundits follow carefully this site and others like it on the internet.

Jeff- Well-spoken, I don't believe that there is any hope for them but you certainly pegged the issues in your letter.

Who knows? That letter could be exactly what one of our lurkers needs to read to get out of their clutches.

Maybe even Purps mom. Good luck Purps, I would send it to mom as well.

i mean, there is so much bullshit talk on this site, and every time there comes up an opportunity to take some action, you all just wus out.

what will it take for you all to get a spine and do something?

write a letter or email to this paper and let them know how you feel about their article.

This is what I wrote:

my letter to the editor

Jehovah's Witnesses are the people that promised me a better life for my family. My daughter was 3 years old and the center of my universe when I began a Bible study with the 2 friendly "sisters" who came to my door. Things would never be the same.
Over the next 10 years I systematically destroyed my relationship with my precious child. Every time she tried to think for herself or make any choices on her own I bombarded her with lectures on "Who did she want to make happy, Jehovah God or Satan?" I did this because that is what I learned at the Kingdom Hall. Black or white, good or evil. No independent thinking was allowed for either one of us. When an elder told me that her Debbie Gibson music was evil I destroyed it. No discussion. When I was told that Smurfs were Satanic, my children were no longer allowed to watch that cartoon and for the same reason could not play with My Little Ponies. These evil, Satanic, toys, cartoons and cassettes had to be destroyed so as to not attract demons. My daughter grew up afraid of Satan's evil world that God would soon destroy, taking away her beloved grandmother and all other relatives and friends that were not Jehovah's Witnesses. Her storybooks had pictures of this destruction and that is what her dreams were made of. She memorized the scriptures to prove it to relatives and in the door-to-door ministry.
Bad association was everywhere, kids at school and in the neighborhood were never allowed in our home. No holidays, no extra-curricular activities and no college plans. My daughter never learned to THINK for herself. I did that to her with the help and guidance of Jehovah's Witnesses where independent thinking is not needed according to them. They believe their leaders to be "God's mouthpiece", his "channel of communication". Without associating with them we will all be destroyed, according to their beliefs. Every one of us, Christian, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist or atheist, dead by the hand of God. That's who Jehovah's Witnesses are.

thanks for sharing this book with me.

although i'm sure this book is accurate and these things have happened within the governing body, it did happen a long time ago and even the "annoited" are imperfect men.. after alot of thought and prayer i chose to stay a witness- an active witness to my ability which is now limited.

Purps- I think the fact that she even read it is amazing and inspires hope irregardless of her initial reaction.

Why can't Witlesses laugh at themselves?

you all know the jokes jews love to tell about themselves.

books and books of them.. the jokes about catholic priests.. i am sure there are buddhist jokes too.

(anybody heard one?).

A sister that I truly love gave me a list of Jeff Foxworthy jokes, "You might be a JW if..." instead of "You might be a redneck if..." They were really funny but I lost the list.

She had a great sense of humor. Most do not.
