Do 2 dimensional creatures see us? If not, we are not real to them.
Are there 4 dimensional creatures that can see us but we cannot see them? I don't know, I've never seen one. :)

Letting their 10 year old spend the night at a "wordly" family's home? Not so much. They seem "spiritually weak". By all , means, invite them over. :)

Advise about my mom.

she wanted to tell me that there was a documentary on a local station about jws.

I like the fact that she brough it up, and that she admited the program called JW's a cult.
This can open some doors for you buit I would proceed with caution.
First of all, I would give it some time. Tomorrow sounds too soon. Secondly, I would use her (the WT's) definition of a cult as a springboard. You can acknowledge that this is one of several markers to identify a cult, but that most cults do not have every single marker.
You could then quote a reputable and non-apostate source to show what those markers are. I would leave her with the question, "I wonder why the WT never mentions any of these other markers???" And then change the subject...

JW's a RELIGION based on PERFORMANCE! How dangerous is that???
by freewilly01 ini have come to realize that this religion is based almost solely on performance and that is the most dangerous.. i always felt that as a person or jw (while an active witness)that i was always just as good as my last assignment, comment at the watchtower meeting, feild service report.. this left me with a huge identity crisis in the borgorg......... i really didn't know who the hell i was?.
did any of you feel similair?

Great post!
Hours in field service, regular meeting attendance, answering at those meetings...it's all about being seen doing the "right thing". You can go home a beat your wife but if you show up for service the next day you are considerd "spiritual". :)

(crazy, maintaining a double life requires secrecy the cia would envy) i did however want to share this with you, and i need your thoughts and experiences if possible.. i just got a fairly decent job promotion, significant enough pay raise, and better hours.
i'm grateful too, happy even.

We are inactive ,but last year we visited our old home town and had lunch with one of my best friends (an active witness). She went on an on about all the bad things happening to people: divorces, out of wedlock babies, job losses, adultery among family members...
My husband and I just looked at each other and out of nowhere he blurts out: "We're doing great! Jehovah must be blessing us!" It did not go over well. :)

Serious advice needed... being df'd without the brothers hearing my side???
by edlewiese inok i have asked several of my friends and they have never heard of being chased by a committee before.
so i am hoping someone has some insight.. .
i'll give you background and yes i am not innocent in the situation but what i was raised to believe is being contradicted by the actions of the elders.. .

I agree with flipper. Your husband sounds like the vengeful type. I've seen this sooo many times! In fact, I have a friend who had an alcoholic bum for a witness husband who finally had enough and left. He wanted her to sign a letter to say he was free. She was so fed up with him and the unsupportive elders that she did sign it even though she had not been with anyone. She just didn't care anymore.
She was df'd and her husband, the drunk, started pioneering. He came out smelling like a rose.
She is still DF'd and living a happy life. She is re-married and has a new career. It was all worth it in her eyes.

Your case is very sad but in no way unusual.
1- You can be DF'd in absentia. Your husband has a signed statement by you that he is "scriptually free". This is all they need.
2-Lap dances and pornography have become very common among JW's and they are usually handled with a slap on the wrist. They are not considered grounds for a scriptual divorce.
3- Unless you have evidence of "severe physical abuse" (Check out the "Family" book), the abuse you suffered from your husband will be treated lightly and you might even come under scrutily for "provoking" him.
4- Porneia covers any sexual immorality, adultery included.
4- I do not know what legal recourse you have. If you go through with a lawsuit and the time and money it would involve, and are successful, please post about it here so others can learn and benefit.
You are going to go through a rough time, but please remember, life is better w/o the WT and their degrading standards. You will be the better for it, in the long run. :)
