Name Things JWs Make Issues Over They Have No Right To Do
by minimus inthe witnesses are worse than the pharisees ever were!.
if you don't turn in a time slip and record your "ministerial" activities, you are no good.. if you wanted to smoke, you would be kicked out, even though the bible says nothing about smoking (and j.f.
rutherford, the society's president regularly smoked).. you cannot go to a "quick build" project and give of your free services if you are wearing a tee shirt with a logo on it!.

Does anyone remebr the "Rooming Work"
by exwhyzee inwhen a convention was to be held in your city and it was believed there weren't enough hotel rooms available or at least affordable ones, the witnesses living in that city were asked to go out into the territory and ask people if they had a room or rooms someone attending the convention could use.
you could report your time doing this as part of your ministry.
i could never bring myself (14 or 15) to do this....it just seemed too weird for a kid to go to a house and ask the householder for a room but many kids in the hall did this.

Did the nephilim have free will, or were they merely moral 'zombies'?
by gubberningbody ini find it hard to believe that every one of them used their 'free will' in a way meriting eternal destruction.. prove to me they have free will when supposedly 100% of them were bad.. if they had no choice as to their 'badness', then where is their messiah?.
why do we get one and they don't?.

No. Whatever is out there, if there's anything out there, is not "God". The term and concept of god and the need to worship it are a human construct.

to buy a house or not... suggestions, experience, help!
by Aussie Oz inmany years ago i bought a house because the government basically threw money at us and the mortgage was pretty much the same as the weekly rent in $ per week.. obviusly that has changed, here in aust real estate has gone through the roof with a house considered a bargain at $300,000 for a first home buyer.. so here i am at 47, thinking about buying a house so that when i retire, the wife and i will not have to pay rent or mortgage at all.
we have to raise $25k more (we have 10) for deposit and fees in the next 18 months to do this.
(offer is to buy mil house at reduced market price).

I'm not familiar with your market so any adive I give should be taken as "general"...
In most cases, if you're getting a good deal (price, low interest rate, nice house, good location...) you are better off buying than renting.
Even though you are buying from a relative, I would consult a real estate professional and have him/her do a market analysis to determine fair market value. I would also want their opinion on the condition of the home and the neighborhood. Even though you do not plan on selling you need to make sure your home has good re-sale value. Most people move every 5-7 years. You need to know that your property will bring a good return if you ever choose to sell.
If you decide to purchase the home, try to double up on payments once or twice a year. This will shave of several years and many dollars from your mortgage. Also, if you can afford the monthly note, try to get a 15 or 20 year mortgage instead of a 30.
Best of luck to you! :)

What is your "INTUITION" about THE SECRET "law of attraction"?
by Terry inever hear somebody say, "trust your gut..."?.
or, like obe wan kenobe: "trust your feelings...."?.
have you ever followed that "little voice" that whispers to you that you should or should not do something?.

Just found this thread and don't have the time to read all the comments, but as a person who considers herself to be "intuitive", I am compelled to put in my 2 cents...
I agree with BTS (gasp!), intuition is real and it is not apart from thinking. Intuition is like a short cut. Everyone has intuition, but some people are more keyed in to their own reactions to things and/or to their surroundings and are able to come to correct conclusions about things very quickly. We have stores of memory that sometimes kick in in certain circumstances and we are able to draw the connections between acquired knowledge and what faces us now w/o any deep pondering.
Intuition should not be trusted in every case, but it often leads us down a path that, once put to the test, confirms our "hunch".
"The Secret" is a bunch of hogwash and has nothing to do with intuition. It's a slick marketing scheem that takes advantage of the naive.
Jung had much to say about being intuitive and later on Myers and Briggs took his theories farther. I've posted about their work before. A site I like that has a pretty accurate test is: humanmetrics.com Terry, I challenge you to take the test. I believe you will find you are more "intuitive" than you think. I will go out on a limb and predict you will test as an INTJ. Let us know how it goes...

I don't know if they like me but people tend to confide in me and ask for advice (even strangers).
