Did you know any "Cool JW" ?
by JH inwere there any "cool" jw's that you knew, that did things that you found so cool for a witness to do ?.
if so, what did they do, that most jw's wouldn't even dare do ?.

Our 9-year-old's theory of evolution

we were sitting at a table putting together a puzzle.
i said something of little importance and he decided he needed to correct how i said it.

How much do you tip?
by Nathan Natas ini'm pretty sure minimus hasn't gotten to this one yet.... .
i'm curious about how much you tip for various services.
what is your usual tip percentage for:.

changeling
Full service restaurants: 20% more if exeptional
Stylist: 20%
Pizza: 2.00 per pizza
Furniture guys: 0
Counter service and buffets: 15%
Hotels: 2-3 dollars per night upon departure
JW's have a reputation for being lousy tippers. That always irked me.

Different magazines
by katiekitten inmy mum recently visited a friend who is still a jw (mum stopped going a few years ago).. the friend told my mum that there are now different magazines printed for jw's and for everyone else.
if this has already been discussed i apologise for the repeat.

You're absolutly right. Having been raised in a strong witness family I can tell you from first hand experience that making others feel special and honoring their individuality and their unique place in the family is simply not done .
Now, exalting my elder dad above all else and deferring to his wisdom in all things, was always a must do. Being careful not to do anything that would reflect poorly on him and his position in the cong. was a way of life for us.
So here's a "happy father's day" from a daughter that makes her dad cringe.

Should I talk to Joel Engardio on the phone? What would you ask him?
by Bob Loblaw inso i met this girl last night whose best friend is best friends with joel engardio.
i said that i would really like to talk to him and she said that she could get me his phone number and he would be happy to speak with me.
i haven't seen the film "knocking" yet,...so i don't really know what i would discuss with him at this point.

Hawthorne and hypocrisy
by dawg ini remember reading hawthorne on my front proch as a young lad, the images he painted with words remeinded me of the witnesses.... not only his more popular stuff but his short stories, like "young goodman brown" and the like.
i remember one of the last passages in that story where it spoke of small graves dug silently-only the mother to witness the funeral, i think he was saying that the fornicator/adulter was hiding a pregancy rather than allow others to find out the "indescretion".
after i graduated from uga, i went to work for a firm in stoughton, mass.

I love Hawthorne too. "The Scarlet Letter" certainly reminds one of the WT.

My Story
by jwfacts ini received an email from a lawyer who has been studying with witnesses for some time.
he wanted to know my story, if i am disfellowshipped and if i have an axe to grind, in order to know if the information at jwfacts.com can be trusted.
i was raised a jw, my aunty and uncle, many cousins and grandparents are jws.

Thank you for that. Having been raised in similar circumstances, your thoughts and feelings are comforting for me.
