Good job! I did the same when I started to leave the WT. It was ming boggling to see NO evidence for 607 and NO historical room for doubt about 587.

Library Visit # 2: 607 BCE vs. 587 BCE - With Pictures!

the results were conclusive: all secular sources agree that jerusalem was destroyed in 587/586 bce.

Talked On Phone 5 Hours to My DA'd Sister ...

What does Paul's citizenship have to do with anything? We are all citizens of some country. Many people, even JW's, even change citizenship.
Being an NGO of the UN's DPI involves accepting the tenets of the UN's charter (read it, it contains material unsuitable for witness), and proof of promoting the UN's ideals through the printed page. A review of articles written during 92-2001 shows how the WT played along. This is clear and simple hypocrisy.
607 BCE has the backing of one source: the WT. 587 BCE has the backing of all reputable, scholarly sources.

My Grandfather.

he was in the trenches in france, he was gased and survived we always thought of him as one of the "generation" when we were kids.
he lived to almost 90, died in 1979.. he was always against the "truth" he mocked, he referred to my parents, his son, as a bible basher/thumper ect.

as such, what makes it relevant, cool, or otherwise, are the people who choose to make themselves a part of this particular community.. internet forums of any stripe have regulars, visitors, curious, lurkers, and of course, trolls.
jw internet communities are no different.. many regulars who are here used to be jw's, and left for one reason or another.

I want to echo the point WMF made about some lurking witness being turned off by some of the posts here. While Jeff makes some good points about the variety of people here, not everyone is capable of looking past the garbage. I'm not referring to fluff threads, I think they have their place in a free environment, but rather, posts that exagerate the evils of the WT or outright make things up.
The WT has given any thinking person more than enough grounds to see their errors and hypocrisy; made up stories and exagerations make the posters and the site look foolish, and give doubters reason to run back to the KH. When I see an obviously bogus post, I love to see serious posters jump on and set things straight. I hope lurkers catch on to this and to the fact that there is real, provable truth on this site, though sometimes clouded by some sillyness.

generation overlap
by cskyjw.sun inin 1914 say an anoited was 14 years old lived up to 80years old in 1980;and then another jw became anoited say at age of 20and lives up to 100 years old,then "this generation" would stretch to1980+80=2060.so the end would extend for another 50 years.

Illustration To Explain "This Generation" Change
by sd-7 ini just had this idea for how a speaker might illustrate the much-discussed 'overlapping generation' doctrine.. "imagine a series of lamps, placed in order from left to right.
as you turn each of them on, what you ultimately have is a set of overlapping lights, that, when combined, form one composite light, so that even if, by some chance, one of the lights gets turned off, you still have the remaining lights which overlap with each other.
in the same way, the current generation of anointed ones have long, faithful records of service to jehovah alongside the past generation of anointed ones who saw the events of 1914. they have served as an overlapping light of spiritual nourishment for jehovah's people in this time of the end.

How's this one: My grandfather served in WWI (1914-1918), I was born in 1959, yet he and I are in the same generation... Go figure! :)
