We had a number of Evangelical pastors in our territory...they were always pleasant, but had absolutely no problem talking about the "tough" question such as Jesus' deity, trinity, etc. with us. We always had a couple of "mature" brothers make these calls. Anytime the discussions started to go "sideways" from our perspective, we would stop the conversation and arrange for a "return visit". Then more research before we came back. We never seemed to make any real progress, but then the pastors didn't either...everyone was convinced they were right!

Did you enjoy talking to vicars on FS?
by highdose ini knew some jw's who loved to get their teeth into the local church guy.
thought they'd show him just how much more they knew than he did.
i think the vicars just humoured them.. they used to come away saying " you could tell he was really impressed about how well we knew our bible!

Are YOU Drastically Different Since Leaving The Witnesses?
by minimus inor are you pretty much the same, as a person?.
do you still worry about doing everything just so?.

What's the most dumbest/petty thing you've heard of someone being "stumbled" over?
by Reality79 in- some loser once took offense that i hugged a sister goodbye at a leaving do and ran back to the elders like a little child telling on me.
i was 15, this sister was in her 40s at the time.. - this elder said someone told him they saw me with a copy of the sun newspaper.
yes, this paper is known for its 'page 3' topless girls but far from pornagraphic and i wasn't even thinking along those lines.. - one brother who had a good job was 'counselled' because he was actually able to buy himself nice things including a new car (shock, horror!!

I ended a letter to someone (a JW) with, "Best Wishes,"...I was later asked why I used occultish phrases and whether this was a "habit" of mine!

Mine was pretty uneventful...I wasn't going to change my course, so it was a couple questions and then DF'ed. Other than having a few family still in, I have not really looked back.

Another JW chain e-mail...Damn these are annoying!
by fade_away ini received a very interesting email a few minutes ago... you may have already seen it but i thought i'd forward it anyway.
it made me think of how blessed we are by jehovah to see with our own eyes the fulfillment of many prophesies which increase our faith in him and in our king christ.
on a personal note, it sent chills down my spine because it's not everyday i get impacted by something like this.... .

So, are you condemning or praising Rick Warren??
I don't know any "mainstream" Evangelicals that do or would support the type of law being proposed in Uganda. Evangelicals may not agree with homosexuality, but that does not equate with supporting "death to gays"!!
